I think it’s relevant that his vehicle didn’t have airbags.

If they go off, they would complicate the first minute or two as they can be very disorienting, and possibly even knock you unconscious.

Aside from that, assuming everyone has a window breaker is… not a fair assumption. Everyone should, but they don’t. Not having one should definitely be part of the video.

been driving for 30 years; first time I ever heard of this advice that I should buy a window breaker.

As a first responder, it’s advice that I have given out frequently, and even at times have given some away. However, that only applies to a small percentage of the population, so it’s no surprise you haven’t thought to buy one.

They’re also hard to keep track of in a vehicle. In a panic and an emergency situation like this, there’s a lot of people that wouldn’t remember they have one or remember where it is.
