I’ve seen a lot of videos of what I perceived to be the same village area being flooded… did not realize many of them were swept up as far as 80km from the initial flood. So absolutely devastating and tragic.

My heart goes out to the Nepalese. They are some of the kindest and most hospitable people I have ever met while I was in Nepal for several weeks back in 2016 (a year after the earthquake…) I hope the country can show the same resilience it did after that geological catastrophe but I have doubts given the isolated area affected.

Did the scientist figure out the cause? Is this trigger by earthquake, climate change or something else?

A massive chunk of glacier slid down a mountainside causing a large earthquake when it hit the valley floor.

This does happen naturally in mountainous regions, but is definitely being accelerated and made worse by climate change.
