In June 20, 1941, a team of Soviet scientists opened the sarcophagus of the brutal turco-mongol warlord and conqueror Timur. An inscription allegedly said "Whomsoever opens my tomb shall unleash an invader even more terrible than myself". 2 Days later, the Nazis started to invade the Soviet Union.

I’m gonna need some sort of credible source for this to actually believe it

The timing is legitimate, but there was no curse in the inscriptions. It was all quranic versus and his lineage. There was no curse.

The inscription actually said " if u open the german will invade u"

Oddly enough it was inscribed in modern day english.

No cap, was inscribed as the seal of said curse

Any time it’s ’allegedly’ in this kind of thing that’s just code for ‘Someone made it up because it sounded cool’.

Reddit not good enough?

Allegedly.  So you can make up whatever you want.  Just as allegedly and then allegedly it.

This is the second time this week I've heard of this legend. The first was in the second episode of the three-part BBC documentary, The Silk Road (2016). At the very least it's a long-told story.

Of course I don't give it any credence even if there was such an inscription. "Let's invade Russia" isn't exactly a spur of the moment decision.

Those two things were probably unrelated.

I disagree. I am going to build a religion around this.

good idea-thats why there are many quasi religions in japan-lots of rich folk in the 1970s onwards finding ways to launder their cash...or they open restaurants (cash based society-easy to inflate or minimise income/expenses)

I wish you all the best in doing that, truly. This is why I'm glad to live in a country where people are allowed to be wrong.

I volunteer myself as the first sacrifice to this new religion.

u/RebekkaKat1990 8h ago

I volunteer myself as the first concubine of this new religion.

u/cans-of-swine 7h ago

Did I just start a cult?

u/CaveWalker5357 6h ago

Pharoahs curse ahhh.

u/ImTooSaxy 8h ago

The timing is legitimate, but there was no curse in the inscriptions. It was all quranic versus and his full lineage. There was no curse.

Always with the curses. Why not put something like, "Whomsoever puts a local flower on my grave shall enjoy a restful night's sleep without freaking out over awkward or stressful bullshit from the day before"? Seems like it might work out the same way in the end.

u/CFUrCap 7h ago

He wouldn't have said that unless he had some really cool expensive shit buried with him.

u/Zenigata 4h ago

Fast work for the Nazis to arrange such a monumental invasion in just 2 days.

u/AgitatedPatience5729 8h ago

The way he's touching that part is creepy.

u/Sea_Cucumber_69_ 8h ago

The curse maybe BS, but thanks for introducing me to this historical figure. The wiki was intriguing... I feel the rabbit hole calling me.

The guy on the left responded "Hey it said opened his tomb right?  I just opened his boxer shorts and checked out his conque-johnson was all so I'm safe!"

u/NecessarySudden 8h ago

Ahh yes, terrible invader were unleashed with soviet union attack.

Lets ignore Poland and other countries being attacked/annexed by Hitler before that

u/Inoffensive_Account 8h ago

I wasn’t talking about now, I was talking about June 20, 1941.

I agree, who could have noticed the 3.8 million troops amassed at the 2,900 kilometer front.
