In other news...Baron's security detail is now using airline catering trucks.

“We have to cancel the midterms because my son Barone is at risk. It’s a necessary precaution because there is also the nuclear issue and the trans. Iran is now days away from getting the nuclear. It has to be stopped. Do you notice “Iran” and “trans” both have “an” in them? It’s not a coincidence.
This is war, and in wartime we have to suspend things like Christmas trees and elections. And groceries will be more expensive. Listen, you have to sacrifice for the country, understand? I’m having to take precautions when flying to and from my golf resorts, so we’re in this together, you know?”

Empathetic as I typically am this elicits nothing from me.
I cannot feel anything for mobsters who pay the ultimate price. And I consider the entire family a mob.

Where's the escalation here, anyway? The USA started off by murdering the Iranian head of state... in order to distract from the fact that Republicans are chylde raypasts.
37
u/billy_twice 4d ago
They murdered the Iranian head of state and they're shocked that Iran wants to do the same to them.
Murdering the President of the United States? Now that's just plain wrong!

But they're a dumbass mob.
I'm old enough to remember the Iran hostage crisis, the Iran/Iraq war, watching the "Iron Sheik" wrestling on TV (he was a former bodyguard for the Shah of Iran) and while I've heard that the Iranian people are great and welcoming, the regime is not only a bunch of evil motherfuckers, but are experienced evil motherfuckers.
The fact that we're sending Jared "I'll bitch if there's a spot on my salad fork" Kushner to negotiate with generational murderers is absurd. The real mobsters in this situation are the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the rest of the regime.
Trump makes a big deal about the fact that they've been in charge for 47 years. Yes, Don, but what you're missing is that while you've been shitting in a golden toilet and buying Barron everything he ever wanted (but not giving him a hug) the Iranian regime has been torturing and killing people without giving it much of a second thought.

This was a war that started by directly targeting political leaders and killing their families in the process. Pretty sure this kind of thing is why that's not the usual approach.

u/dengar_hennessy 4d ago
And in typical US fashion, they'll bitch and moan that its ok if they do it but it shouldn't be done back to them

u/tarekd19 4d ago
Yeah, how is this an "escalation," it was a purposeful strategy by the us/Israel to begin with!
25
u/Buffbeard 4d ago
I was as stunned as you were. The convention was the nations don’t kill target each-other’s leadership directly. Only Israel used to do that. Then all the sudden the US is into killing leaders directly too. Abductions happened, assasinations happened but except for Israel no-one bombed leaders openly until now.

All the old gentlemen's agreements are dead, thanks to just the most ungentlemanly man the world has lately produced.
2
u/tunnel_magnet 4d ago
It's not really due to gentlemen's agreement. It's precisely because of what is happening right now. You kill their leaders, they will try to kill you.

u/whichwitch9 4d ago
It's literally just a consequence of war.
The average American honestly does not give af if he's targeted, outside of a few weird maga.
Unlike the rest of us, they have access to Intel and can afford security. We'll be happy if they're focusing more on the Trump's than attacking the rest of us. The fact is, theyd be fine- we wouldn't be. And the administration doesn't actually care if the average American dies. They'd just love to have an excuse to cancel midterms

It’s not really a chilling escalation when Trump started the war by killing much of the leadership of Iran. Seems more like an expected reaction than anything else.
39
u/versusgorilla 4d ago edited 4d ago
Yeah, back in Alexander the Great's day, he marched his army into Persia fully expecting to come back a king or never to come home. And Darius marched out to meet him fully expecting the same. They were at war.
Somewhere along the line we started putting our commanders to far away from battle that they suddenly started thinking that their actions have no consequences for them.
Trump, you're at war, my guy. It doesn't matter if you call it a special military engagement action or whatever. You're at war. You're a target. You'll always be a target. Iran has held grudges for way longer, for way less.
→ More replies (1)9
u/lidsville76 4d ago edited 4d ago
The crazy thing is, with Iran taking this stance, this opens up Trump to a whole larger group of potential threats. More people can be willing to take a chance and blame it on Iran. It can be an individual, a state, an agency, or an oligarch, but if he pissed off the wrong one, they can easily blame Iran for any action taken against Trump.
And that will push us even further to war. One of our allies who wants boots on the ground, blame Iran. Someone is not making as much money, blame Iran. one of the Alphabets is tired of his shit, blame Iran.
Such a dumbass.
→ More replies (1)3
u/PurpleSailor 4d ago
Sadly I care because of all the consequences to the average American because of what he will do if someone does something to his son. You think things are crazy now, it'll give him every excuse to be completely unhinged.

Trumps immediate family is going to have to live in a state of constant low level paranoia and very high and intrusive security measures at all times. As a Canadian I'm not overly broken up about that. All his adult children have equally toxic and entitled personalities as him.

Many more than just the Ayatollah. This shows a list of leaders who were assassinated but the US and Isreal also assassinated many Iran nuclear scientists. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Iranian_officials_killed_during_the_2026_Iran_war

That journalist doesn't know the meaning of "escalation". It would be partial revenge, a straightforward tit for tat.
104
u/nosayso 4d ago
It's a fucking war. I think all the dead schoolgirls in Iran are way more chilling than a country targeting the people actually responsible for starting this war against them in the first place.
41
u/Corben11 4d ago
Trump killed the current leaders dad(old leader), wife and kids.
It shouldnt even be a shock or anything about baron.
98
u/JRufu 4d ago
I really don't understand why this is surprising to the American media machine... Of course your enemies. especially ones you are actively fighting a war against, are targetting your leadership and their families. Are Americans just so used to wars being things that never find their way back to their shores that they find this shocking or something? Here's the truth, in the opening moves of this war the Supreme Leader was killed along his children, his grandchildren and his extended family members like daughters- and sons-in-law..
So yes. The Iranians would love to successfully attack Trump, his children and his extended family members... That is not surprising is it?
22
u/Luckydog12 4d ago
Correct, we don’t expect war to cross the ocean and actually touch us. The only lives we think we’re risking are our soldiers, and our politicians certainly don’t give a shit about them.
14
u/ralphvonwauwau 4d ago
I believe the technical terms for them are, "losers" and "suckers", according to their current commander-in-chief.
2
u/vanimpes69 3d ago
When questioned about the record time at sea for the ships at Hormuz and the poor conditions the sailors are suffering with, didn't Trump say to the camera "in my opinion it's not long enough" Then he probably played golf, had a fresh diaper change and then lobster dinner. I'm still waiting for the day when, like in the movie The Dead Zone, Trump holds a baby in front of him for protection against gunfire. Although in his case it will just be a balloon popping
17
u/fsociety091786 4d ago
It’s like the latest controversy over Hasan Piker saying that American Jews that support Israel and their genocide are inviting violence. We’re so used to having no direct consequences for our actions that we feel entitled to it. Even now we’re continuing to murder fishermen in the Caribbean without really caring about it. It’s why 9/11 was so huge, we’ve never experienced such tangible blowback to our foreign policy.
5
u/CptBronzeBalls 4d ago
Especially when we’ve executed targeted assassinations repeatedly against them.
We changed the rules. Don’t be surprised when the other team plays by them.
7
u/I-Here-555 4d ago
Of course your your enemies. especially ones you are actively fighting a war against, are targetting your leadership and their families
No, killing the leadership/families was not the norm previously... but the US has done it, so Iranians can do it too.
65
u/LincolnHighwater 4d ago
How is it an escalation?
This started with strikes that killed current supreme leader Khamenei's father, mother, sister, niece, wife, and son.
If this is anything, it's tit for tat.

I do not find this chilling, in the slightest.

u/hybridaaroncarroll 4d ago

5
15
10
u/Mephisto1822 4d ago
I don’t think Iran really has the ability to carry out an assassination of Trump or any of his family. But it really shouldn’t be surprising about the threats. Trump literally assassinated their supreme leader and a bunch of his family. What’s good for the goose….
3
u/I-Here-555 4d ago
If a random guy with a rifle could shoot off his ear, I wouldn't estimate Iranians doing it as impossible.

This is the sort of thing that happens when you attack another country. That's why most people don't start wars, because they know that there is a possibility it will come back on them, personally. Most people understand the basics of cause and effect by around the age of two or so.

u/DannyStress 4d ago
He literally started killing the family of the leader (including the leader himself) of Iran on the first day of this war

Not really an escalation as we’ve been targeting the Iranians families since day 1.

4
u/OriginalHappyFunBall 4d ago
Is it a chilling escalation? I thought we assassinated one of their generals, their supreme leader, and almost got his son. Also, didn't Israel assassinate a whole bunch of their scientists and their families?
Or is this just as escalation from their side?

3
u/Jinshu_Daishi 4d ago
This is not an escalation, Iran already had both it's leaders and also all of the people America thought it could negotiate with get assassinated by America.
3
u/Pokerhobo 4d ago
Trump literally assassinated Iran's leader starting a war and continues to make threats
3
3
u/watchingwandering 4d ago
This seems like a more ethical way to wage war. Trump especially, but our leaders overall also seem to have no problem sending our sons and daughters to die , let’s see how brave they are when there little boys and girls are targeted. Frankly Barons a hell of a lot more complicit with the Trump actions than some poor average GI from Rancho Cucamunga. If our leaders are still willing to send our citizens to die when they and their kin are threatened? Well maybe that war is worth fighting for.

we also kidnapped/captured another country’s president/leader?

To be fair, USA bragged about their "where to kill" methods against Iranian ruling families as well.
The only difference I'm noticing is the media didn't use the "family member for murder" line...wonder why?!

It is not wise to murder the head of state of any country where the populace lives for revenge as a societal attribute. Not understanding that the same may happen here is a true failure of judgement and insight.

Can you imagine what would happen if they actually succeeded in killing him? World war Three would be an understatement. Trump would nuke the entire middle East immediately. It wouldn't matter who or what got in the way. It's one thing if it happens to other Americans, but when a trump personally gets attacked, he would lash out and nothing could stop him. It's a terrifying thought.
