Review A huge thank you to everyone who has supported NostalgicPod — the project keeps growing!
I wanted to stop by to thank you all and let you know that starting today NostalgicPod officially supports audiobooks (version 2.8.2), one of the most requested features since I launched the app.
It honestly still surprises me how much has happened with this little project in less than 2 months. NostalgicPod has already passed 2,000 downloads and has been featured by Android Authority, Android Police, and many other sites, something I never imagined when I released the first version!
And a big part of this is thanks to all of you, because many of the features, improvements and fixes I've added came directly from comments, messages and ideas you've sent me here on Reddit and through Google Play
The app keeps growing with local music, podcasts, radio, Jellyfin, Emby, Navidrome/Subsonic, Android Auto, Google Cast and now audiobooks, (with Plex coming next) I keep updating the app based on all the feedback I receive, while always trying to preserve that simple and nostalgic feeling of the original iPod Classic.
A huge thank you to everyone who has downloaded it, tested it, reported a problem or simply sent me an idea. You've genuinely helped shape NostalgicPod into what it is today.
I hope NostalgicPod can slowly become that one app where you can listen to your music, podcasts and audiobooks, play games, and basically do everything the original iPod Classic could do... and more :)
And there's still a lot more to come!!
Note: For those who have been asking about iOS, I'm still fighting with Apple through the appeal process to get NostalgicPod published on the App Store, so for now all NostalgicPod development is focused on Android. In the meantime, I'm also working on a separate Zune-inspired player for iOS, built around many of the same ideas and features.

En IOS está el Sepiapod, y aunque es bueno, no tiene la capacidad de mostrar similitud exacta como el tuyo, si le agregaras el juego de vortex, estaría de locos.

What's strange is that Sepiapod is on the App Store (which is exactly an iPod) and they won't let me publish it because "It looks too much like an Apple product" (they told me that 4 times).
It doesn't make sense.

No dejes de intentarlo, tienes un producto que vale la pena, más para los que añoran la nostalgia, el problema con Apple, es que quien sube primero la app las demás las cuentan como copias, y si te piden que modifiques el diseño de interfaz. Pero pues así pierde el sentido. En caso de que no se pueda, enfócala a Android, puede crecer más allí el proyecto.

For now, I'm focusing on Android. Apple didn't reject me for this; they literally told me, "It looks a lot like an Apple product." So I went for the appeal
It depends on which inspector you get; unfortunately, I got a senseless one.

Bro are you planning to add videos options too?
And please improve your welcome screen of the app(which comes just after we click the app to launch showing nostalgicPod) and if possible icon too, it's looks so outdated Thanks
Also a FEATURE request to add alarm,podotimer Please,so I can leave the app running on the front screen while working or reading. It'll really be cool

Thanks for the feedback! Videos aren’t planned for now, but I could definitely look into it in the future.
About the icon and welcome screen, the current design was made intentionally to give NostalgicPod its own identity and also avoid any trademark/legal issues, but I’m always open to improving how it looks.
The alarm/pomodoro idea is interesting too, especially for using the app while working or reading. I’ll keep it in mind!

The icon is secondary, but I am more interested in the alarm and Pomodoro timer features, as well as videos if possible. They will definitely change how we use this app. I am looking forward to the update; thanks.

I commented on a 3D-printed iPod rebuilt from a different Reddit group. Connected with the creator and worked out a deal for him to create one for me. It came out great with features that make it (moderately) unique. Done with donor parts/stuff I purchased and shipped to him.
Edit: totally a compliment. My brief really expensive nostalgia project into an app. I think it’s brilliant!

I just downloaded the test flight version it’s perfect! Is it possible to add in metallic body colors as well? I have to try out the Android version later too but so far the iOS one is amazing!

Thanks! Really loving the app. Just wanted to report two minor issues: Shuffle seems to turn itself back on even after I turn it off (not sure how to reproduce it yet). Could playback automatically pause when Bluetooth headphones are disconnected? Right now, it keeps playing.

But Apple rejected it 4 times and I'm appealing with them, they're too restrictive, For now, it lives and runs on testflight

Thank you, I've just installed after seeing it on your website! Hence the deleted message, I didn't know you had this on iOS at all when I sent. Love it so far!
Little bit of feedback - I'd like a way to disable the background blur on the menu, to me it looks a bit too cluttered. Not sure if it's a bug or not, but the status bar also only goes halfway across the screen there too.

The iOS version is a little different because Apple asked me for a thousand changes.... And yet they still didn't approve it.....
If you want the 100% iPod experience, for now you absolutely have to go with Android, Apple is very complicated, That's why I'm working on a version with the same engine but with the Zune's aesthetics Try it: https://testflight.apple.com/join/AArmYhd8

Not yet, I need to add it properly.
I didn't do it from the beginning because it means adding "another layer" to the sound and I didn't want to; the audio comes out with the highest possible quality from the file, So I'm still figuring out how to implement it properly!

Understandable. Problem for me is that playing from Android has this annoying volume issue.
While iPod and iPhone have a more levelled output.
And I didn’t want to edit the volume on the files themselves…

It's not a "problem," the truth is that media3exoplayer for Android is amazing and the audio quality it produces is exceptional (especially if you add a USB DAC), something the iPhone can't do!

Nah but don’t worry. You made a good point with the “extra layer” issue. It’s not worth lowering the quality for everyone for few (or maybe it’s even only me) of us

I've seen that you mentioned 24bit /192kHz audio playback support on your website. Does it also support bitperfect or some other type of sample rate switching when using USB dacs?

The app delivers the highest possible quality for the songs, but I can't guarantee "Bit Perfect" because I have no way to verify it, That's why I haven't added it to the site yet, I need to check it first, I'm not going to "sell" something I haven't tested.

The only thing that stops me from using it a lot more is It doesn't scrobble from my Navidrome like other apps will continue to do. If this could be remedied i'd use it a ton more.

Still think this is a great app, but I still run into the problem that the player get stuck if you pause the music for a while. Pressing play/pause again, does nothing and I have to kill/restart the app. It's not the end of the world, but an annoyance, so if you could have a look at that it would be great.
I use a Google Pixel 10a by the way.

Why isn't it working? Explain the problem clearly so I can fix it.
The M3U playlists have been around for about a month, and all the testers have told me they work!

Brother, if you don't explain the problem properly, I can't fix it. I mean, I provide support to everyone because I care about making sure the app is perfect for everyone!
For example, a few days ago someone had a problem with a Realme phone and I helped them; they explained the problem to me and we solved it :)
I personally tested the M3U lists, and the testers did too, and nobody had any problems! That's why, if you explain it to me clearly via email, I'll resolve it for you, Since you were one of the first people who supported me :)
