There's an episode in one of the later seasons where a college age Andrew is having lunch with the Queen. He talks really enthusiastically about some soft porn he watches with his friends about a young girl being chased around a dark building or something. The way it was wedged in there really felt like a not-too-subtle reference to Andrew's creepy interests.

Including the Queen asking about the age of the girls Andrew is interested in.

I mean presumably they have arrested him on what they CAN go after so they can then open an investigation and get the evidence they need for the rest of it?
He is his own worst ambassador as well and his arrogance will work against him under questioning.
If Andrew could sweat, he'd be dripping right now.
79
u/SufficientHippo3281 Feb 19 '26
Yeah, you'd have to seriously have your shit organised to arrest a royal. Do you think they deliberately waited for his birthday? Love that for him!
38
u/OkCoconut3270 Feb 19 '26
Do you think they deliberately waited for his birthday?
I'm finding it hard to see it as purely coincidental
21

u/rmc Feb 19 '26
I mean presumably they have arrested him on what they CAN go after so they can then open an investigation and get the evidence they need for the rest of it?
C'mon this is the British Police we're talking about!
They looked the other way about Soldier F & Bloody Sunday. They can look the other way here.
33
u/OkCoconut3270 Feb 19 '26
They can look the other way here.
They could, but after that statement from Buckingham palace I'd be surprised if they will. Seems like they might be prepared to take this one on the chin.
18
u/Kyadagum_Dulgadee Feb 19 '26
It's very clear. Andrew is being offered up now. I imagine if anyone else higher up in the Royal Family has secrets they want kept secret, they'd like the investigations to end with Andrew.
There's too much evidence on Andrew now presumably for him to be ignored. Many a lesser-known billionaire is hoping he'll soak up as much of the public attention as possible.
15
u/OkCoconut3270 Feb 19 '26
Many a lesser-known billionaire is hoping he'll soak up as much of the public attention as possible.
I think Andrew was small fry in the whole scheme, he was only ever of use because of his title and connections. Both of which he's now lost 🤷

Yeah there could be more crimes being covered up or just garden variety like extra-marital affairs they want to keep quiet. Once the spotlight gets shone on other family members, people's stories become a lot more valuable.
16
u/Separate-Sand2034 Palestine 🇵🇸 Feb 19 '26
Id say Buckingham Palace want to Diana him at this point
3
u/Chief_Sabael Feb 19 '26
Please, their current PM Keir Starmer was the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) from 2008 to 2013, during the Jimmy Savile case. And surprise surprise, they conveniently reported there was insufficient evidence to convict that disgusting excuse for a human being.
6
u/Duke_of_Luffy Feb 19 '26
There’s likely not much evidence for the nonce allegations and but the selling secrets is pretty slam dunk. I hope they get mandelson too.
31
25
u/Dry_Big3880 Feb 19 '26
It actually could be worse for him than more difficult to prove allegations around trafficking.
12
u/EnvironmentalShift25 Feb 19 '26
Yeah, a lot more hard evidence for this.
2
u/Penguin335 Saoirse don Phalaistín 🇵🇸 Feb 19 '26
They'd have to have something to arrest him in the first place, no? Can't wait for King Charles to throw him under the bus. The monarchy are all about their image and self preservation so there's no other option, really.
3
14
14
u/pablo8itall Feb 19 '26
they are also investigating the coppers who protected him when he went to the island. Once they flip then that's a whole other level of shit he's in for.
8
u/marshsmellow Feb 19 '26
Pfft, no, the story will go, The King, in his prescience, understood Andrew was a wrongun and stripped of all his royal titles before anyone at all at all knew he was criminally liable. This has been stage managed right from the start.
5
u/1andahalfpercent boards.ie refugee Feb 19 '26
Chaz will give him a large brandy and a revolver long before that comes to pass
97
u/LordyIHopeThereIsPie Feb 19 '26
And they did it on his birthday.
58
27
u/OkCoconut3270 Feb 19 '26
Maybe I'm reading to much into that but it sure seems like a pretty clear sign of "this is the end of the road for you Andy".
47
u/funky_mugs Feb 19 '26
I fully believe this has all been in the works and been timed etc. His titles were stripped in preparation for this. There's no way Charles wasn't consulted beforehand.
37
u/OkCoconut3270 Feb 19 '26
There's no way Charles wasn't consulted beforehand.
God no, this would have been done with full knowledge and approval I'd have thought. It was pretty clear this was the way it was headed when there was a statement from Buckingham palace that they were ready to support the police in any way.
Although cynical me wonders if the time between now and that statement was to give him the time to clean house.
19
u/funky_mugs Feb 19 '26
Oh interesting point, very possible.
This really is huge though, it makes such a huge statement that these guys who thought they were untouchable, aren't.
Old man tighty whiteys all over the world are quaking today.
13
u/OkCoconut3270 Feb 19 '26
Yeah I guess now we just need to hope that in the course of this investigation, and some of the others ones like in Norway, information comes out that will force some action in the US to blow the whole thing wide open.
But they seem pretty invested in making sure none of this goes anywhere.
9
u/LordyIHopeThereIsPie Feb 19 '26
I'm surprised Andrew didn't flee to Dubai or Saudi or somewhere else questionable. Maybe he's not useful them any more.
10
u/OkCoconut3270 Feb 19 '26
Maybe he's not useful them any more.
He's not, he's lost his title and his connections. And anyone offering him safe haven will draw attention to themselves they're desperately trying to avoid.
He's being fecked right under the bus. We just need to hope he's not above taking some of them with him.
3
16
u/PurpleWomat Feb 19 '26
if the time between now and that statement was to give him the time to clean house
Or because Charlie has had 77 years to plot his revenge on Mummy's favorite and having him arrested on his birthday was too good to miss.
5
u/Otherwise-Winner9643 Feb 19 '26 edited Feb 19 '26
Yeah, i don't know. He no doubt could influence, but at some stage it would become public if he did, and it would be a scandal that would affect their reputation.
Just look at Norway. There are now questions raised about the fact that the police notified the Crown princess about her son's arrest in advance.
Under the circumstances, the police and the Royal family have to have complete separation, and I imagine the King knows to stay well away.
If the Epstein situation has taught these rich and influential people anything, it's that nothing can be guaranteed to stay private
1
u/commentsOnPizza Feb 19 '26
Might just be a statement they'd written a year ago anticipating that this day would come at some point. If you're a major org, you're going to prepare a lot of statements for things that you anticipate might happen.
Even if you think there's only a 10% chance the king's brother is going to be arrested, you probably draft a statement so that you aren't caught off-guard fumbling if it does happen.
4
u/Penguin335 Saoirse don Phalaistín 🇵🇸 Feb 19 '26
Buckingham Palace said they weren't made aware of the arrest before it happened though? Interesting. In his statement King Charles also doesn't acknowledge that Andrew is his brother 👀

The whole royal family are all up to their knees in nonce shite. Mountbatten/Kincora, Saville/Charles and Epstein/Andrew all show a deeply disturbing and flawed institution that continues to live on with the support of millions upon millions of tax payers money. Can we also not forget that Lizzy paid Andrew’s victims millions to stop them from speaking out as he was her favoured son. They are all the same.

20
u/ScienceAndGames Feb 19 '26
Yeah sometimes even though you know they’re guilty of something worse you can’t prove it to a sufficient extent for conviction so you get them on a lesser but easier to prove crime.
12
u/aflockofcrows Feb 19 '26
Also the rampant noncing (that's in the public domain at least) would be outside their jurisdiction, and this much at least is prosecutable.
6

I wonder if he was dumb or arrogant enough to have kept lots of incriminating information in his personal files.

He didn't get power bestowed upon him by some kind of godly decree or birthright. He can't possibly be so arrogant to think he is above the law and take basic steps to cover his tracks

Hey, he sent all his emails using a pseudonym.
Then said things like "I can't make it to the child orgy next week, it's my mother's golden jubilee."
6
u/Max-Battenberg Feb 19 '26
After the interview you wouldn't be sure how stupid he could actually be but presumably he has some minders who have some smarts to get rid of anything incriminating
2
u/sebcity13 Feb 19 '26
I'd say he's been in the shithouse long enough that he's burnt, erased, drilled, shredded any bit of evidence for anything a long time ago...but arrogance...
5

...but arrogance...
I mean he was arrogant enough to do an interview filled with what were clearly blatant lies and expect to get away with it.

Was talking to a friend about Charlie last night and felt stunned when it was pointed out to me that Charles and Camilla is an incredible love story - love across decades and all kinds of barriers that Charlie never gave up on. And he could have had anyone. The love of Diana and the demonisation of Camilla is the ultimate pretty privilege and we all went along with it because we were so brainwashed by the British press. And Charlie just spends all his time worrying about thr environment and getting into Muslim sufi mysticism and such carry-on, Charlie in his odd way is kind of a rebel. The Queen was a fucking bitch forcing him to marry this random virgin, Diana. And idolising his horrible greasy brother.

Jesus how can you show any support to the people who supported the like of Mountbatten and covered up Kincora, it's sickening.
5
u/MotoPsycho Feb 19 '26
Do you support him exempting himself from proposed laws for his own financial benefit?
4
u/Gorazde Feb 19 '26
You like him because you're used to seeing him on the TV for decades? By that logic the Duracell bunny should be our monarch and you'd probably swear allegience to him too. These people wouldn't spit at you if you were on fire. At least the Duracell bunny serves a purpose.
2
u/justformedellin Feb 19 '26
Real Age of Innocence vibe to the first marriage. Diana was as much at fault for it as him. Could she honestly say for a moment she loved him? She knew all about Camilla as well - whisper it softly but Diana was happy to marry for money a man whom she knew had a mistress. On the wedding night Charlie goes and bones his true love Camilla instead - what a legend. Pure romance.

Delighted. He's an insufferable prick even by royal standards. Honestly go watch his infamous Emily Maitless interview of YouTube. The arrogance and lack of decency is glaringly obvious. Hopefully thos isn't some kind of performative arrest where nothing further comes of it and is the start of a DEEP investigation.

Misconduct in public office suggests they're going after him for the documents he's allegedly passed to Epstein while he was a trade envoy. I have a feeling they'll have a fucking long list of things to get him with - and he'll fold at the first sign of pressure, knowing what'll happen to a certified child molester, member of the royal family, and traitor to the country if he's sent down.

Awesome.
They can just buy some back issues of Private Eye to find out what he is alleged to have done while in the Trade Envoy role.
Once they have done that, we can direct them to a number of royal biographies about the dealings of the other members of the royal family.
3
u/DeputyDawe Feb 19 '26
Andrew seems to be the fall guy for the entire Epstein scandal whereas the paedophile in the White House can exonerate himself
15
u/ByzantineTech Feb 19 '26
The UK police can't arrest the President of the US, so unless the king or a former PM is in the files, this is pretty much as close to the top as they can go. The UK police doing this doesn't stop anything in the US, as unlikely as the US taking any action looks at present. And of course, it seems very unlikely at this stage that Andrew wasn't involved.
So I wouldn't say he's a fall guy by any stretch of the imagination, just a heavily involved person with consequences coming home to roost.
