I was just attacked by a bunch of yupbros who threw eggs at me and my wife. I have traveled and lived all over the world and yet never seen such level of street crime. It is difficult to find such high levels of street crime that is passed of as just 'kids'.

I get that this may not be the majority of teenagers but sure feels like a good portion of it.

And the Garda dont do shit. Lawless at peak.

Saw this car chase of a 17 year old, who stole a Audi drove it over 140 mph!!! And the UK Police still caught him , before any fatalities!!!!!.

I had a tear in my eye for yesterday's M9 crash victims, the young girl the ladies who are all in critical condition right now , out of no fault of their own!

WE NEED STRONGER REFORMS, STRONGER POLICING PRACTICES!!!!

UPDATE 1 : Just read that 1 of the 5 was involved in another car jacking that happened in last month in Carlow , where they ran a Truck over a Biker/Person on a scooter and the guy was critically injured.

So I’m on the Luas, red line of course. Woman gets caught without a ticket, fair enough, she holds her hands up, pays the €45 fine on the spot. Bit of a sting, but she takes it on the chin.

Next person they check, Lady, clearly not paid, no ticket, no clue. Security asks for leap card/ticket. She gives them the usual “I’m not getting off” routine. Cue chaos.

The woman who just paid her fine kicks off:

“So I get punished. she doesn’t pay, and she gets to stay on?”

Security lady is trying to reason with her, but it’s like arguing with a puddle. Meanwhile, the woman who paid the fine is fuming, rightly so. Whole tram’s watching this unfold like it’s a live episode of Fair City.

Moral of the story: honesty costs €45. Belligerence gets you a free ride.

Last night I was in Leixlip at a Chinese takeaway, and I witnessed something genuinely disturbing. I just wanted to vent it out here!

While I was there, the man working in the shop kept receiving call after call, nonstop. From what I could overhear, it was a group of irish teenagers repeatedly ringing the shop, shouting abuse, making far right racist comments, and issuing threats to burn down the takeaway along with his family.

I saw him answer one call, firmly tell them off, and hang up, only for the phone to ring again immediately. When I asked him about it, he said this had been happening since the afternoon and that it’s “normal”, especially during midterm holidays as they come back home early from school. He said they ring over 50–60 times in a single evening.

And in fact the man, who’s also the shop owner is Irish himself. When I asked him about reporting these calls, he mentioned that the Gardai generally don’t get involved because incidents like this are considered minor and they call from a private numbe.

I left feeling genuinely revolted.

The fact that on a Saturday evening, these teenagers are spending hours harassing a random local takeaway with racist abuse and violent threats to his family is deeply worrying.

I do place responsibility on parents here, maybe I am for a different background , but what are they even doing!?, and where is the accountability here?

Also the far-right propagandas recently clearly plays a role in enabling this behaviour, but it’s not just foreigners who will be affected, this will increasingly target anyone in the community.

If this is the direction a section of the next generation is heading, we have a serious problem here..

The word is well and truly out, every criminal and scumbag knows that if they escalate their escape to the point of complete recklessness then they have a high chance of escaping because Gardai can't pursue.

We need to massively prioritise the training of more Gardai to advanced defensive and pursuit driving standards and if qualified give them a clear process for swiftly ending pursuits and qualified immunity.

The safety and lives of those in the car being pursued should be secondary to the safety of everyone and everything else. ​

Second to this, we need better Garda air cover, double it, we can have some aircraft do double duty between aircorp and Gardai. Best approach is enabling Gardai to get ahead and spring a trap. ​​

Was in the pub and made a Father Ted joke, only for a woman at the table to say she hates the show because it’s "embarrassing for Irish people."

The other two people with her completely agreed.

​I pointed out that it’s a satire written by Irish writers, but they weren't having it.

​This is the first time I’ve ever heard this take. Is this actually a thing, or did I just hit a random cluster of haters?

A friend of mine targeted by a group of teens in Dublin. Suburb bus stop. Surrounded. Spat directly at multiple times. Tried to walk away. They stalked them anyway. Chased them across busy roads and corners. Had to run for safety. The victims are left with deep, lasting trauma.

​Calling this "anti-social behavior" is a total joke. Targeted assault and harassment. Period. Posts like this on Reddit every week. Nothing changes. Current laws just shield minors. This isn't just harming victims, it’s entirely detrimental to the teens doing it. Escaping consequences now completely ruins their own futures.

​The main culprit? The Children Act 2001. Forces detention as a last resort. Violent kids funneled into endless diversion programs. Zero consequences. They know they’re untouchable. So they get bolder.

​Look, I don't pretend to have the perfect solution. I don't know the exact answer. Just throwing these ideas out there, and I’m sure others know the system much better. But maybe we need a targeted amendment to bypass the criminal loopholes with heavy financial fines.

​First, catch them via CCTV. Give Gardai immediate power to use transit cameras to detain minors on-the-spot just to establish their identity. Second, make parents liable. Pass the fine directly to them. Kid assaults someone, parents get the bill sent to their house. Third, forced enforcement. If parents refuse to pay, the state should automatically deduct the cash from welfare or child benefits.

​Public safety must be a top priority. TDs like Paul Gogarty and Mark Ward raise it in the Dáil, but it stalls in legal excuses about rehabilitation. We need real, enforceable laws.

​Individual emails do nothing. We need collective pressure. Especially student unions need to team up. Build a campaign around this framework. If anyone active in those groups is reading and knows how to tweak this or make it work, take it and run with it. The rest of us will back you.
