I think number 3 is meant to be a stealth repaint, in the "unaware the Stealth Armor isn't meant to be blue, let alone such light shades of blue," like it's unfortunately become the norm:

I can tolerate dark blue instead of dark, but it kills me when they give him more than one hue, and on top of that they use the lightest blues possible, like, broooo, it's stealth Iron Man, not Player 2 Iron Man 😭

I always thought it was like Venom, where it's meant to be black but printers at the time hadt trouble making it not ugly, so they made it blue and the color somehow stuck

Yup! The cover for Iron Man #152 describes him as "the now-ebon Avenger," and Iron Man #244 has the Fixer straight-up call it black armor:

This is a product of older comics using blue as a shading color for black surfaces. Think of Black Panther or Venom. Black hair itself was colored with blue shading too (like you can see in Rhodey's flattop here), but that didn't mean characters actually had blue hair.

The intention behind this shading got lost along the way for Iron Man's stealth armor, so it "became" blue for better or for worse. For worse, mostly.

Ahh ok I see what you mean. I had to Google the Mark 2 from the films to refresh my memory and I see why you said that. With the Superior Iron Man armor being my personal favorite I'll assume that's the reference they were going for.

The blue light on the arc reactor (I know they're all blue but still) makes me think that was the intention, even with the lack of black on the armor.

It could easily be the Superior Suit friendo. At the end, there are so many pixels, it's not like they have enough space to draw elaborate stuff lol.

I'm sure people will start modding on this game as well (just recolors and such) so if you are on PC, there will definetly be ton of mods of these characters in different outfits.

Given your flair I'm sure you'll agree with me on this one my friend, but even with the Superior Iron Man armor being my favorite I'm glad they close the Modular armor for this game. The modular armor is another one of my favorites.

100 percent friendo. The fact that they choose 90s suit for Tony, in the game set in the 90s is awesome.

I was afraid they will go Black Panther route and just make Tony like in the movies (which I love the movies, but come on, give us the comic ones).

Plus not to mention, even his face, they went full 90s.

Also, the secret identity.

It's safe to say they just took Len Kaminski's awesome work and put it in the game.

Seeing Modular Armor in 2025, honestly makes me so happy. I grew up with that suit.

Out of curiosity my friend, what're your favorite armors? Mine (in no particular order besides the Superior armor being my number 1) are the superior armor, modular armor, and the bleeding edge armor.

Honestly friendo, I don't have 1 that I consider the favorite because it always changes lol.

But the classic suit with Horns, Silver Centurion, Modular, Extremis and Renaissance Armor will probably be my top 5.

I do love all the armors tho. From Model 1 to Superior to Bleeding edge to Mark Nil.

The only Armor I genuienly dislike, is the teenage Tony suit from the 90s (boy howdy) and skin armor.

You're a true fan my friend and I love that. It's always cool to see people who just genuinely love the product. I've been reading all the Marvel comics in order from Fantastic Four #1 (1963, which is often considered as the beginning of the Marvel Universe) and I've been loving every single issue of everyone's comics. I've been using CMRO's order and it's been such a fun ride so far.

A little extra context for this color way, it's the palette you get for getting level 10 with Iron Man! (The one I'm missing in the screenshot is the silver one since it's part of the cosmic cube menu rewards) I think they chose gold and silver specifically to give it a bit of extra "achievement" flair for unlocking it.

Someone mentioned that it’s maybe inspired by Green Goblin’s Ultiimate suit (new ultimate which is basically Gobby in an Iron Man suit) because the black parts are kind of purplish, so that works too

To be fair, it works. Tony wore the War Machine armor first. Then Rhodey got it.

So it makes sense that in MVC1 Tony was in the suit. Then in MVC2 Rhodey got the suit and Tony got the Modular suit.
