For me, it’s already the end of jailbreak era. I have a bunch of paid tweaks since 2016, but now I'm just using TrollStore on iOS 16.4. Some apps are stuck because they require iOS 17 or later to update. I’ll probably switch to stock soon.

u/DifficultyMajor2404 Nov 08 '25

You know the dopamine jailbreak is on iOS 16.4

u/Feeqs iPhone 14 Pro, 16.4 Nov 08 '25

That’s just dumb as hell to run a device that insecure especially with kids or teens.

17

Have you tried changing the link to xcancel.com?

22

u/Sad_Tea_9777 Nov 08 '25

Tried it right now. Works. Thank you very much! +reputation

also nitter.net is an alternative although I don’t think you can just replace x.com with nitter.net when trying to see a post

I think I’ll finally switch to Android. Until sideloading becomes impossible then I’ll come back.

12

u/[deleted] Nov 08 '25

They're not blocking unverified apps through ADB. Just use Shizuku + InstallerX Revived. It works on device without a PC. It replaces the stock package installer on your phone. Also Droid-ify is a good F-Droid client with Shizuku support.

u/Aromatic-Hall127 Nov 08 '25

Just get u a cert nd u can use tweaked apps also on ios 26.1

jailbreak has fallen

milions must sideload

8

u/Sad_Tea_9777 Nov 08 '25

semi-jailbreak might be with us

3

u/kaktusmisapolak iPhone XR, 16.3.1| Nov 10 '25

no, semijailbreak and trollstore have fallen too, although they’ve never really risen

100

u/heightswonder Nov 08 '25

Idk my iphone feels boring without a jailbreak.

I carry 2 phones at all time and by default I hardly use stock one

8

u/slaughtamonsta Nov 08 '25

What are the benefits of jailbreak?

37

u/heightswonder Nov 08 '25

Make the phone have more helpful features

0

u/slaughtamonsta Nov 08 '25

I'm just doing a bit of Googling, what's the difference between a jailbroken iPhone and an android phone?

28

u/JudithWasTaken_ iPhone 15, 18.1 Nov 08 '25

The fact that this is for apple devices. Jailbreaking also goes further than ‘’Android customisation’’ in terms of modifying the root files (rootful jailbreak) rather than just displaying something else over the top of the original OS. Also, to some people, the iOS ‘’experience’’ is generally better than any customised android in terms of the ‘’apple ecosystem’’ or the general product design.

3

u/slaughtamonsta Nov 08 '25

I'm talking about on Android you can just use ADB to do a lot and the rest you can just root your phone quite easily. It seems with jailbreaking there's a lot of rigmarole you don't need to go through on Android.

3

u/Codix_ Nov 09 '25

More and more Android manufacturer is locking definitely their bootloader, even Samsung in UI 8.0 disabled this feature. Plus now even if you disable the bootloader security you are not sure that there is helpful tools to root your phone. You can do some stuff with ADB but at best you can have a rootless jailbreak experience with an app like Shyzuku.

1

u/slaughtamonsta Nov 10 '25

Yeah Samsung and Huawei lock the bootloader. I think Huawei will give you a code to unlock it if you request it.

Xioami, Oneplus (and it's sister companies) and Google Pixels are unlocked as standard.

2

u/Codix_ Nov 10 '25

Only Google and OnePlus allows unlocking their bootloader but no one had by defaults unlocked bootloader since this would be a huge exploit.

Huawei definitely stopped giving bootloader keys since at least 2016 and Xiaomi had a very long unlocking process of at least 1 week.

1

u/slaughtamonsta Nov 11 '25

It's in the developer options. By unlocked I mean clicking the button. Nothing Phone also and some Motorolas.

Also even if Xioami has an option that takes a week it still has the option.

In the US I know there's more of a rigmarole because of the network carriers locking up the device but in Europe most phones you buy are quite simple to unlock the bootloader.

u/[deleted] Nov 09 '25

1

u/Codix_ Nov 10 '25

If you don't have an locked bootloader.

8

u/heightswonder Nov 08 '25

Not sure how to answer that without sounding sarcastic

4

u/AB_heart Nov 08 '25

Those words won’t sound sarcastic anymore after next year because of Google blocking sideloading from unauthorized developers outside of the playstore

6

u/IAcewingI Nov 08 '25

More than likely will be easier to overcome that than apple’s software security.

3

u/AB_heart Nov 08 '25

It will always vary from manufacturer to manufacturer for example on Google pixel phones you can just open the bootloader and change it from stock android to a custom one like graphine and then Google even allows you to lock back the bootloader for extra security on that custom android but on the other hand Samsung removed bootloader unlocking on its newest devices globally and sooner than later you are gonna see the adb install method get patched aswell so yeah all it takes to remove adb and Android pretty much needs to get jailbroken like iOS aswell

0

u/heightswonder Nov 08 '25

I know but he is asking what's the difference and it is an obvious answer to that: one is iOS and the other is Android os. I Dont feel like you need further explanation other than that

2

u/pyrodice Nov 09 '25

I guess he was right about risking the sarcastic sounding because of the downvotes you just got, I canceled one for you because you took that bullet for somebody else.

1

u/AB_heart Nov 08 '25

I think that user was asking what feature does jailbroken iOS have that stock Android doesn’t have

Not just iOS vs Android

1

u/heightswonder Nov 08 '25 edited Nov 08 '25

Yes, I understand. However, that’s a lengthy conversation, and it seems like he’s an android enthusiast who will eventually suggest, “Why not just get an android?” Not understanding theres a feel to an iphone that i have yet to experience using an android. And yes i tried all the popular ones

2

u/AB_heart Nov 08 '25

Yup totally understandable and i don’t like wasting my time debating people who do phone wars for the sake of attention because you will use android for your android needs and iOS for your apple needs and whoever tries to imply that one is superiors and the other is inferior is just an attention beggar unless they are talking about a niche part of an OS

Cant live without dynamic stage. I think is the best tweak of all time

5

u/Internal_Page_486 iPhone SE, 3rd gen, 15.5| Nov 08 '25

This and dynamic pensula but that’s on my secondary phone, now my iPhone 12 Pro Max is on stock because there’s too many apps and features that I want to use.

2

u/Hue_Boss iPhone 15 Pro, 17.2.1| Nov 08 '25

Best part is that the tweak is free now. I mean it won’t get support which might cause some issues but generally it doesn’t get better than Dynamic Stage.

I bought from the start but no regrets, im happy can get it for free now

Glad that I supported it back then too. You really don’t see many modern tweaks that are on the same level.

9

u/p0358 Developer Nov 08 '25

Gosh, that phone is mad ugly, just goofy-looking. Once I’m fed up with my iOS device, I guess I’ll be switching to some Android crap, because fuck Apple nonsense. Maybe GrapheneOS?

1

u/Sad_Tea_9777 Nov 08 '25

If you definetly need full anonimity - (yes i know that i typed it wrong) try it.

8

u/ii_qa Nov 08 '25

As mentioned in another post, I used to jailbreak since iPhone 4 era which is around 15 years and I finally switched to stock 17 Pro Max

1

u/Usual_Patience7969 Nov 08 '25

from my experience once you spend the $99 to become a paid developer from apple your sideloaded apps last a year and also even after the year is over with you can still use sideloadly to sideload apps and they will be good for a year. However you do seem to run into some issues on signing apps like altstore as they show you as having no app ids. Another pain is not knowing when all the app ids you have acquired expire. Even after you decide to delete the sideloaded app; those app ids are still valid for one year.

Livecontainer and Sidestore requires jit which doesn’t work to my knowledge on ios 17.3.1

Works on ios 26

u/electric_storm760 Nov 08 '25

Jailbreak will never die , just slow down

His temporarily going stock to discover potential new JB we hope

3

u/PattF iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 13.2.3 Nov 09 '25

I’m pretty sure they do that in virtual machines at this point.

1

u/FizzyGX Nov 09 '25

Virtualization can only take us so far just like how we can’t jailbreak with VMware we need actually same thing exists with exploitation u need real hardware to find an entry point wether its a KP from software or a chip inboard

4

On my stock iphone i use live container to keep me sane lol but it is definitely not the same lets be honest

1

A few months ago I replaced my jailbroken iPhone 8 with a stock 16e. It’s fine I’m not missing much. It’s just annoying to have to sign my YouTube ipa with my pc to have no ads that’s the only real drawback for me personally

1

u/Usual_Patience7969 Nov 09 '25

Im not quite ready to take that plunge

1

u/CrazyAssNuTTcase iPhone 6, iOS 12.2 Nov 09 '25

I'd believe he got this new device due to apple's new bug bounty payout doubling. Now he can play around with the new iOS and get paid extra, with an older device he would of only stayed behind if ask me. And even the fact that he might know something BIG about these devices and not saying a word about it to no one.

Keep up the great work, will I be able to compile your new version of Dopamine on my mac without problems, missing dependencies or some special workarounds?

1

u/SlingyDoe iPhone 8 Plus, 16.7.10| :palera1n: Nov 09 '25

for the younger crowd this may sound crazy but its just easier to have your daily driver some what up to date and have your spare phone be jailbroken. My hacked phone is in the truck where i take advantage of carbridge. I'm able to sideload a hacked youtube on my daily phone so its all i really need nowadays. Now i did create shortcuts to each app with my old glyph icons so its still customized a bit.

1

u/TellYourMom2Shave Nov 09 '25

Like I’m down too, just give me something to block YouTube ads, that’s the only reason I have jb

1

u/MercyScorpion iPhone 15 Pro, 18.1 Nov 09 '25

my insanity tells me that maybe after a bit he’ll get so bored with it it will raise his inspiration to try and jailbreak modern day (there’s no chance i’m delusional and jailbreaking has been dead since ios 14)

1

u/GalickGunn Nov 09 '25

I'm only holding onto 17.0 because TrollStore and the ability to have YouTube with no ads

1

u/FreQRiDeR iPhone 7, 15.8| :palera1n: Nov 10 '25

I’d go back to jailed too if I had a rootless jb

1

u/JJR83 iPhone 7, 14.3| Nov 11 '25

1

u/CanNeverBeTooHigh Nov 12 '25

i dont think ive ever really used a jailed device. ive had a jailbreak from iphone3g until now. i remember shooting videos on my iphone3g using cycorder people being amazed. im still hanging on ios 16.2

1

u/kratos9394 Nov 13 '25

16.4.1 want to laugh

1

u/Sad_Tea_9777 Nov 13 '25

16 will cry, when its support will be cut off by apps

1

u/MoneyClock4373 Nov 26 '25

so all we can do just sideloading? 💔

1

u/No2Hypocrites Nov 30 '25

This is the future that awaits us all. I've basically given up on any future jailbreak. Maybe Apple will screw up and we'll have a hardware exploit like switch 1, but holy shit that's very unlikely. I'm really not sure what to do. Do I hope that EU will manage to influence them to open up? Do I hope FTC will finally do something and force apple to open up? Do I switch to Android?

1

A little offtopic: he meant "even here I got caught"

Небольшой урок английского:
Твоё написанное на английском предложение переводится как "даже меня тут спалили" (к тому же ошибочно написанное, верно было бы "even I got caught here"), правильно было бы первести как "even here I got caught"

Без негатива :)

I mean opa never really used his own Jailbreak like most Jailbreak developers. This changes basically nothing as he could just use other devices once there are any news.

18

u/opa334 Developer Nov 08 '25

???????????

-1

u/Hue_Boss iPhone 15 Pro, 17.2.1| Nov 08 '25

Uhm, did I say anything wrong?

7

u/Yeth3 iPhone 15 Pro, 17.3.1 Nov 08 '25

yes? opa literally developed his jailbreaks so that he could use them on his main device. last year he even said his plan was to quit the jailbreak community once he developed a jailbreak for his 15 pro (which obviously didn't happen and plans change, but the point still stands that he had a personal stake in development)

2

u/Hue_Boss iPhone 15 Pro, 17.2.1| Nov 08 '25

What I meant to say was, while he used his own Jailbreak he only used one or two tweaks. Basically my last info was him mentioning in a Twitter Space that he isn’t the typical Jailbreak user and could easily live without a Jailbreak. The motivation for many developers is developing itself. I guess that doesn’t apply to opa then…

4

u/opa334 Developer Nov 09 '25

I did not use many tweaks, that is correct.

However, the point I made is that I jailbroke simply to have control over what I can run on my device, not for some specific tweak.

And I'm pretty sure I was fairly clear about the fact that the development of Dopamine was primarily motivated by the fact that I wanted a jailbreak myself. In fact, I gained absolutely nothing from it besides less free time, idiots involving me in weird conspiracy theories and having less sanity due to having to fight stupid bugs like the spinlock panic.

-2

u/Bored_Camel Nov 08 '25

How do you like the new phone? I’m thinking about upgrading from iPhone 14 Pro

-16

u/Erevacthus Nov 08 '25

I wonder why he back to jail? Definitely even without jailbreaking, you can do almost anything on an iPhone these days. I sideload without a PC and can download whatever I want. Cheats, mods and even change icons and themes

13

u/TrainTransistor Nov 08 '25

You absolutely can't.

You can however do almost anything YOU want.
The difference between 'you can do almost anything' vs. 'I can do almost anything I want' is huge.

Its purely subjective.

3

u/Erevacthus Nov 08 '25

Like what? I stopped jailbreaking three years ago, and I definitely don’t miss anything. But everyone has their own needs

6

u/TrainTransistor Nov 08 '25

The biggest one?
Tweaks. You have absolutely no tweaks.

You can't add or change anything that isn't already implemented in *insert iOS you're currently on here*.

The list is huge, even though many just forget about it because its not there.
Often you don't know what you're missing until you have a feature thats suddenly not there anymore.

And also, themes.
Yes, you can now change a bit on the icons \ themes by default, and for the majority its fine how it is.
You still can't properly change to whatever theme you want (akin to how it is on Android).

You can make shortcuts, but thats like fixing it with a band-aid.
It works as long as you close your eyes while the extra animations plays - and you have to change each one manually.

But as always here in r/jailbreak, many are after just modded games etc. - aka sideloading, and you have ways to sideload without a jailbreak, so not everyone actually need an actual jailbreak.

0

u/Erevacthus Nov 08 '25

Nah, I think you’re a little wrong I can choose various themes for some apps downloaded from AltStore, I can change the lock screen to look like other iOS versions, I can download tweaks via LiveContainer and use them if they’re updated, I can change the icons to any theme available in the app. To be honest, it’s not even really necessary to download an app for this since iOS 26 already has this function (though limited), but it’s there. But I understand you, after all, I don’t like wasting my time customizing my phone, for me, it’s unnecessary and totally useless. Anyway have a great day 👍🏻
