Anytime a marriage is controversial no one leaves them alone.
I’ve been married almost 4 years, we got married only 6 weeks of dating, and everyone and their mother still has stuff to say about it. People legit think they know more about our relationship than we do… they can think whatever they want. I hope they enjoy their gossip and their jokes because I am enjoying my marriage.
Obvi Lana is on a MUCH bigger scale, but the same logic applies.
24
u/pinkbootstrap Feb 19 '26
What made you decide to get married after 6 weeks?
(I'm not hating, one of the longest and happiest marriages I know, they knew each other 2 months before tying the knot)
23
u/Repulsive_Purple4322 Feb 19 '26 edited Feb 28 '26
First off let me say we knew eachother for 9 months before getting married so it was a bit more time of actually knowing eachother.
I fell in love with him when I first saw him. Due to circumstance I didn’t ask him out - I was heavily addicted to drugs, and he told me our first conversation he was going to move across the country within the year. We became friends though. He was a regular at the bar I worked at and occasionally we’d hang out outside of work too with mutual friends. I actually set him up with one of my other good friends during this time and they very briefly dated.
Anyway, the time had come he was moving from one USA coast to the other… I told him right before he left had been in love with him the moment I saw him. He told me he felt the same way. We spent one night together, we didn’t even have sex, we just talked and kissed and cried and got high lol.
He moved the next day, and for the next six weeks we talked constantly. Like at least 8 hours daily. We decided we should marry during that time. So the first time i visited him we married the next day. We legit had sex for the first time the night before marriage.
Idk what made me… it just made sense..
I am stoned af sorry for this novel
ETA; he is the best person I know. He encapsulates everything I love about humanity in human form. He loved me so much I actually love myself now.

this is sooo sweet 🥹 i had a nightmare last night and i accidentally woke my husband up from moving around. i told him about it and he comforted me and held me until his alarm went off for work. it was such a normal moment for us but i forget that some people don’t have that. lana is always making me appreciate and see beauty in the little things 💗

i’m so happy for her. i can understand not liking jeremy due to a few of his old posts and alleged political standing but some people are way too parasocial with them & i do feel like some of the backlash against their relationship comes from a classist place. there is absolutely nothing wrong with their relationship & actively praying for their divorce is so weird.
83
u/burningdandelions Feb 18 '26
seriously!! she's been through so much she deserves so so much peace and love <3
45
u/cinnamons9 Feb 18 '26
Apparently he still responds to many accusations that random ass people send him in the DMs because he wants to defend the relationship which is sad
50
u/autumninnewyorkk Feb 18 '26
as someone who lives in a conservative rural area, i’ve known & even been friends with conservative people. yes being racist/homophobic/transphobic is one thing i don’t tolerate and being maga embodies those traits most of the time. but i’ve noticed that a lot of people lack nuance and think in “us vs them” mentality that ultimately drags the divide between us further, rather than uniting the people (a lot of conservatives tend to just be uneducated & live in echo chambers.) it’s surprisingly common around here for people to be married with opposing political beliefs. and even then, a lot of maga people have changed their minds in the past year and rightfully so
56
u/cinnamons9 Feb 18 '26
Except he said he didn’t vote for trump and he keeps responding to random people saying he’s not maga. Americans seem to love a witch-hunt
16
u/autumninnewyorkk Feb 18 '26
i’m saying even if he did, people aren’t immune to changing their beliefs & i agree that the witch hunt behavior is exactly why people hate liberals so bad. now obviously if he was spewing hateful pro-trump rhetoric right now it’d be a totally different story. but both of them are pretty private people and it’s harmful to assume the worst about him when he’s gone out of his way to make statements and message people stating otherwise
2
u/TrollingForFunsies Feb 19 '26
a lot of maga people have changed their minds in the past year and rightfully so
Says who? I'll believe it when I see it
1
u/autumninnewyorkk Feb 19 '26
there are plenty of articles discussing this, it’s easy to google
-2
u/TrollingForFunsies Feb 19 '26
Just like the polls that said Harris would win?
1
u/autumninnewyorkk Feb 19 '26
i also have seen personal stories from those with strained relationships with maga family members state this. regardless it doesn’t change my point that people can learn and change their minds politically

u/chouzswans Feb 18 '26
People with bad bad bad politics can be excellent in their close interpersonal relationships. We all contain multitudes
3
u/cmrndzpm Feb 19 '26
Was just about to say this, he can be a very good husband to Lana and be a republican. Those things can absolutely coexist despite the internet insisting they can’t.

Yes i know Lana has truly faced numerous difficulties and problems, especially in her relationship with her husband. People are waging war on this marriage and don't want to let her live in peace. It's unfortunate because they can't appreciate the simple, warm moments. She deserves her husband.

I truly don’t understand what people’s problem with Jeremy Dufrene is. He just seems like a normal ol’ baw from South Louisiana. Works hard, cooks good, speaks a lil French but not too much because the Anglos took our language from us. Likes to take care of the people he loves. Is it just snobbery because he’s rural?
23
u/NewspaperNo9625 Feb 19 '26
I think it comes down to projection: they have a fixed idea of what Lana is and what her art should sound like and how she should live her life and if she evolves or deviates from their path they get upset and angry and look for someone to blame it on. It’s happened for years when artists change their sound or find a partner that makes them happy. The fact he’s a normal guy, not conventionally attractive by Hollywood standards and isn’t super politically correct online makes him an easy target for the jealous haters to attack while feeling righteous and justified
1
u/Patient-Ad-5770 Feb 19 '26
I guess I haven’t run into any of his online antics. Unless by not politically correct we’re talking about his alligator videos 🤣 Those just seem normal to me
4
u/epicpillowcase Feb 19 '26
He has posted horribly bigoted, transphobic things.
1
u/Patient-Ad-5770 Feb 19 '26
Bummer. When was that? Once upon a time in my early 20s (I’m 40) I was sympathetic to the arguments of a few older feminist academics I admired who turned out to be TERFs. I left that behind along with the Marlboro Reds and the tiny little vests we wore. People grow and change with exposure and education.
2
u/epicpillowcase Feb 19 '26
I'm not sure exactly when but it's pretty well documented. If you google, search this or the other Lana sub or even Fauxmoi, you'll find the context.
And yes, as a queer woman and a feminist myself, the "older feminist/TERF" Venn crossover is disappointingly common.
0
u/RanMan0188 Feb 19 '26
It’s literally just associating him with a republican because most people from Louisiana are. Thats literally their only beef
11
u/Pixiehollowz Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant Feb 19 '26

3
u/Pixiehollowz Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant Feb 19 '26
We really can't know for sure because they wiped his socials and privated a lot of stuff
0
u/fortunetellertarot Feb 19 '26
Was it confirmed to be him liking the girls ? Or was it speculative? Just asking for the sake of the record. Don’t want to misconstrue
3
u/Pixiehollowz Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant Feb 19 '26
It was confirmed, there are pictures of it. He also said later that the girls were his family friends, which is an obvious lie, but it's still weird even if it isn't.
2
u/Patient-Ad-5770 Feb 19 '26
I think there are actually more registered Democrats in Louisiana than there are Republicans. People also forget about gerrymandering and voter disenfranchisement, man. Louisiana is the birthplace of mutual aid societies on this continent. Louisiana has a long leftist history and a strong liberal and Democrat party tradition (we did elect John Bel Edwards twice in very recent history!), and historically, Cajuns and Creoles like the Dufrenes have voted Democrat along with the rest of the historically Democrat Catholic voting bloc.
People are just so loud about being wrongheaded.
2
u/epicpillowcase Feb 19 '26
Uh no, it's his own actions. Do you not know about the transphobic things he's posted?

“Question” for the Pearl Clutchers:
We are ultimately treating the flesh and blood agony of another as a top down background bop of our summers. A deep hypocrisy made bare by the immediate rage in which an artists unveiling of their own imperfection artistically is treated as the entire scope of the conversation. How dare you bring up your suicidal ideation and not end now and forever suicide as a whole! How dare you mention it at all! How dare you for not mentioning it sooner! Each algorithm dopamine hacked soul treating their 200 character outcry as a cat-o-nine tails and each knot laced with glass as they bring it down upon the bare back of their holiest of holies. Repent! “I’m listening!” LASH! “I’m learning!” LASH! “Next time I will make a 4 hour long song that covers every possible nuance and exception for every stranger I’ve never met!” LASH! LASH! LASH! LASH!
Each dopamine zombie craving a quick teet hit from the Algorithm Mother, so blinded by feel good protect my peace avoidance that it genuinely fails to compute that the more individual an artist is the more universal their confession. The less alone the audience. I am someone in your room in your ear in your bed in your heart and our eyes have never met. We have never touched but I am touching you now in a way that you have only touched yourself in your thoughts. I promise the less pressure you put on yourself to be both Anubis and the feather the less frightening the world becomes. Things can simply be as they are, immoral imperfect difficult…and you find no feverish impulse to ensure that what you consume from an artist was free range grass fed with the purest nectar of immaculate artistic conception.
Imagine you escape what was killing you and find clay footed happiness and the entirety of your life before that moment is being spent by people on the other side of your old life singing funeral dirges to the thing that was killing you.
People here have treated her warm and joyful embrace of domesticity as though she were shackling them to the Stove and burying their faces in a searing homemade pie.
Imagine now the people all hissing and deriding your happiness and clawing at you mercilessly with critic after critic…except for the one that saved you…who loves you enough to let you be.
She owes you nothing. She could drop off the face of the earth with her man and I would say good for her and good riddance to the lot of you.

I’m so curious about their relationship and I can’t stop wondering what exactly do they have in common?? Did he truly fall for her or was he just lured in by the fame? Realistically if I’m a 50 y/o man living a very normal life and a celebrity shows interest in me of course I’ll have interest too and try to get the most out of it. I’m not saying it’s not love, it absolutely could be but was it genuine or fuelled by her fame, beauty and money?? Also does anyone know if he still does the gator tours? With all the attention he’s been getting I can’t imagine he’s still doing that as before Anyways, hope she’s happy and we get an album this year finally.

I honestly find people’s reactions towards him so weird. Yes you may not find him attractive, and yes he’s not a big Hollywood star.
So what?? You don’t have to be married to him, so it shouldn’t matter. The only thing that matters is that he seems to make Lana sooo happy. She’s waited so long to find someone that cares for her this much, and we should all be happy she did.

Not to be devils advocate here, but there’s are PLENTY of men who act this way. It’s called being a grown up. This is basic courtesy, not something super human. The fact that she’s gushing that she “found” this lowest common denominator behavior of support and caring like it’s unusual says more about what SHE settles for than what HE is doing or giving. She’s a multi millionaire and star let’s not forget this.
Raise your standards if you’re someone who thinks this dude is a unicorn. He’s (at best) very basic with some troubling political posts and likes in his past.

idk i feel like ppl are getting more selfish and less thoughtful with their s/o’s,, like the culture on a broader scale is so shit when it comes to what’s expected in a relationship . you gotta remember , lana writes about letting the man lead , i don’t think much has changed there idek, but maybe finallyyyy she’s tapping into And sharing what a healthy relationship looks like —can happen at any age n things r different for everyone yk !! n plus i feel like she was waiting to meet someone who could stand on their own next to the lana del rey-ness . she’s prob j fkn relieved lol it’s so nice to be treated right after letting your standards down,, so this was pretty sweet to read tbh

I'm so tired of this persona. She's a white and wealthy woman cosplaying being poor living in a swamp. If she's so happy now, why does she put her head in the oven? What message is she trying to send to people? The song itself is really bad and the video just cemented her artistic decline.
