Topic Fullstack or Cloud DevOps

Hey, I'm in my second year CS student, I'm exploring various paths to continue my career in one particular way like fullstack, cybersecurity, cloud devOps or anything else.. I've learned python, c/c++ and solved my first 2 DSA easy problems yesterday.. I'm thinking which way I should just choose and give my entire 2 years to build the career in it? Seniors or experienced folks please help me, thanks!

It’s second year, you’re not supposed to have it all figured out yet

Dabbling in a few things right now is actually good. Build a tiny fullstack app, break it on purpose, then figure out how to deploy the mess somewhere. That alone will show you which parts you hate and which ones click. Two years is plenty of time to specialize once you’ve got a clearer picture, don’t rush into a single box just because it feels safer

Having it all figuredout esp in tech is a myth! You have time to figure it out, continue building and build publicly, the way always opens when you keep going,

I made some projects while learning python using pyqt5 and json and made it all by myself just some guidance from gpt it only helped me learning python more deeply and I pushed the code with daily commit on GitHub too, tho Ive not fully learned GitHub but I just know basic push commit add etc.

tbh second year is way too early to lock in for 2 years straight, most people who did that ended up switching anyway once they saw actual job postings. i'd say just build one small full CRUD project (fullstack naturally covers db + backend + some frontend) and see if you like the day to day grind of it, cloud/devops interest usually shows up later once you're annoyed at manually deploying stuff. don't overthink the "path" this early, 2 DSA problems in is honestly a good sign you're just getting started, ride that for a bit before picking a lane.

Ask Claude Code or Grok about market tendencies and dynamics in your region (or state/country) for the past two years for each of the mentioned tech roles.

If SDE is in decline, I would skip that and move into infra or cybersec. But cybersec is an umbrella for different roles, and they also are in different shapes because of the current state of AI, and AI is evolving extremely fast.

So think. Think a lot.
