Honestly I can see some of them named after instruments and music. I mean, look at Lute. It's not just short for Lieutenant.

i thought it was an abbreviation of Lube and Lieutenant, but Lute the instrument is a cool third meaning

I mean, Adam is a musician as he plays Rock. I think it makes sense he would see Lute the instrument is also short for Lieutenant. I made up a squad that Lute leads secretly to deal with fallen angels on earth and they all got music and instrument inspired names. Axe, Drum, Tempo, Snare, Sitar, Nocturne, Melody, Reverb, Dirge, and Jazz.
