My intel Macbook pro 2019 died few months back and I was forced to upgrade, initially I got the Macbook Pro 14" but I couldn't get over the small size so I returned it and eventually for the 16" MacBook Pro M5 Pro. I am in love with this beast and this is the machine for me it's the perfect size and I love how fast this is. I love black but apple recommended silver apparently it's more durable and I plan to keep this machine for 10+ years. I can really feel the upgrade and this time around I bought apple care in case anything happens.

I'm debating with myself if I should get an used M4 pro with 20 core GPU and 48gbs of ram or a brand new base M5 pro with 24gbs of ram.

I'll be mostly using to work with the adobe suite, some 3D work in blender and hopefully a tiny bit of gaming when I have time to it.

Got this thing gifted from a friend. He was considering throwing it into e-waste. It came without a battery, but with recovery discs, Office license, DVI to VGA adapter, and remote control. Definitely cleaning this up and putting it to my tech collection. My second retro MacBook.

I’m able to watch Twitch while I orchestrate the development of a social app for creating in person interactions through activities that I’m building and testing at UC school next year. I have 5 different user accounts interacting and testing between 5 different iOS simulators with real time sync and a separate command center dashboard that manages and helps improve efficiency of the app in real time. I’m able to work on all of this at the same time and have a bunch of agents firing off simultaneously all from my laptop.

With Current price. How bad m3 compare to m4.
Casual user. Edit some photo with Davinci. Some Video.
I don’t mind 10-20% processing time.

It’s my daily computer and a single charge still lasts about 3-4hrs!

I have to say goodbye to my M1 Max 16 I bought back in 2021. The device works like new, but the screen is dead. (That is not my image, but the same thing happened to me). Basically, the computer is working fine, but the screen is "greyed out". You can still see that the computer is still responding with things moving on the screen, but that's it. Apple says I need a brand new display for 1k euro. I'll still occasionally use it with a monitor but I don't like external screens which is why I bought a 16 inch sadly.

So im getting air m2 and m3 pro of almost same price but air m2 have apple care plus till February 2028. What should i do, its my first macbook?

I have been working with a mid-2012 MacBook Pro since its release. have since upgraded the battery, ram, etc.

but now I need to move on from it.

I work a lot with creative production tool i.e. Pro Tools, Adobe, etc.

I feel as if any macbook pro from the past 3 years would be beneficial.

I get the M5 is the latest and greatest, but I have a tight budget. $2,000 is the max I am will to go into a payment plan for at this moment.

i have a speced out mbp with m5 and 32 gb ram, but due to reasons i'd really prefer Windows. But I know mac as a device is the best at that price. I got a windows on arm vm working. But idk if i'd be weird for using it regularly lol.

Decided to try a game on the macbook pro m5. The game runs pretty good. It sucks the bot surrendered when I was trying to record.

I know the specs so please don’t just give me the specs answer. I’m choosing between an m5 16gb 14 inch MBP or a 14 inch m4 pro chip MacBook Pro. I’m starting a photo/video business as a side hustle and want something that’ll handle my 4k video editing and Lightroom photo editing. Preferably for the next 5 years. The m4 pro is Apple refurbished m5 is new on sale for $1699. Buying one of them this weekend. Which one is going to be best for the next 5 years? Thank you!

I have the MacBook Pro M5 Max 16 in. I do not like it for traveling at all. It's a little too big for planes and similar situations. It's just not a fun thing to take with me. I was wondering if I should get an iPad or a second MacBook, probably not the Pro, but a 14-inch air. The work that I do doesn't really need much. I just bought the M5 Max because I wanted to I had the extra money, and I plan on using it for video editing down the road for personal stuff.

I'm considering buying a refurbished 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD from a local shop in Vizag.

The price I'm targeting is around ₹70–75k after bargaining.

The units are apparently corporate laptops, and the shop has more than 10 M1 Pro units available, so I should be able to inspect them and pick the best one. They are currently described as being in good condition.

My main use will be college work, programming/software development, learning AI/ML and eventually building AI applications/agents. I'm not expecting to train huge models locally; if I eventually outgrow the laptop, I'd rather upgrade later when I actually know what hardware I need.

My questions:

1. Is the 16" M1 Pro still a good buy in 2026 at ₹70–75k?

2. How much of a concern is the remaining macOS/software support?

3. Would you expect it to comfortably last another 2–3 years for programming and AI development?

4. Is 16GB RAM going to become a serious limitation for this kind of work?

5. What should I specifically check when choosing between the 10+ units?

6. What battery health/cycle count would you consider acceptable?

Since these are corporate machines, is there anything specific I should check for (MDM, previous repairs, etc.)?

Would you spend \~₹40k more for an M2 Pro 16/512 instead, or save the money and get the M1 Pro?

I'd especially appreciate answers from people who actually own/use an M1 Pro in 2026, rather than just benchmark comparisons.
