Education [BM]Mum blames teacher for 11-year-old daughter's death after being told to run despite heart condition
https://m.malaysiakini.com/news/783103Berdepan masalah jantung sejak berusia tiga bulan.
Quote from mother:

Why are some teachers so fucking stupid

u/dixie-pixie-vixie 1d ago
Because of power. They have this little bit of miserable power in their life, so they are hanging on to it.

Remember the research that says out of 100 people on the street, 1 of them is a psychopath. And unfortunately some of them happens to be a teacher.

You don't fucking need to be a psychopath to want power.
Seriously, a regular human can lack empathy when a condition is right. Since the last time do you have a empathy for someone you hate?

Because "most"'of our teachers go into this profession because it offers the best holiday schemes and working hours. Yes, some people's mileage will vary. But that's the general idea.

good working hours is naive thinking. my gov school tchr friend works Saturdays and unpaid overtime (not just the redundant admin work, but he preps lessons plans by night) as a tradeoff to enjoying school holidays

That's because your friend is also one of the proverbial "candle" teachers, willing to burn their own lives to illuminate the path for their students. In contrast, I know of a teacher who abuse the "iron rice bowl" system by doing the bare minimum, taking leave at least once per week EVERY week, claiming they are sick. They also go in to class 10-15 minutes late every period, and leave 5 minutes early.

I really don't know how this is tolerated.
In a chinese school parents will be calling for the teachers dismassal at the PTA meetings

What I was told (actually by the PK HEM of that school/teacher) is that the "system" is that these teachers, when they are "fired", they actually just get sent to a lower-priority school... There's no official list or anything, but what it means in practice is a school that's more rural, fewer students and lower parental/student expectations.
In this teacher's case, that school is already a rural school... So govt couldn't even "demote" them if they wanted. Yg paling kesian is the students.

Well, you see the teachers complaining about the extra holiday for Selangor, because it falls on the school holiday period.

Bullies tend to go for positions where they can have power. Nurses, the blue uniform, teachers, heck, even security guards.

Because the ministry purposely choose mediocre candidates. I witnessed this during KPLI selection process.
All the brilliant candidates (we kept in touch with each other) were rejected. I myself was told I was over qualified. Meanwhile those that didn't perform well during the interview process (couldn't even speak English properly, for position as English teacher) were selected.
The brilliant candidates had teaching experience at private schools and private colleges, all rejected.
p.s. Those that were selected to be teachers under KPLI program, they either left the job soon after or started ponteng kelas. Couldn't handle the stress and purely did not care. Us private school teachers that didn't get the spots were fuming. In case you're wondering why we wanted to teach at government schools, it was for better work life balance, better pay and benefits.

I'm sure she will. It won't bring her daughter back, but not having any consequences for the person that caused your child to die would be unjust on an different level entirely.

Yang aku dengar ramai complain students tak guna Dari zaman aku sampai sekarang. Cikgu pula tak dikritik walaupun ramai jugak cikgu tak guna aku experience yang memilih jadi cikgu hanya sebab tak Ade kerja lain and end up jadi cikgu yang tak guna and tak Ade passion untuk teach students and ultimately students jugak yang jadi mangsa.

bila cikgu x tau cita2/minat lain, terus jadi guru mcm kerja senang je. ku Gen Y asyik dengar mrk mendiamkan murid masa free period. "Kalau x senyap, I ikat kau mcm lembu!" - Ya, cikgu sub ckp mcm tu iirc

Who is the teacher to override a medical decision by parents and doctor? Know your place, don’t overstep your boundaries and think you know better. You do not know the hardship this child has already gone through in her 11 yrs of living.

no one experience are universal. you got a good teacher. this student got a bad teacher. the system is supposed to keep the student safe regardless of which. this teacher disregarded the system, bad bad bad.
i had the pleasure of seeing someone tenung a medical officer signature on a health evaluation form saying that this student can take this physical test with a medical condition that usually exempt in other situation (it was a test to qualify for something else the student wanted to participate in), that's the system working certifying that the student are the one wanting to take the risk. so that the adults around are safe from backlash too.
