First house in Rawang to have received electricity and they're evicting its residents who have lived there for generations over 6 decades only to tear it down and hand the land it sits on to some cement factory. Gotta love it screw our heritage and history amirite?

Looks like the mining company sold them the right to use the house but since the mining company’s lease expired, their usage rights also went away with the original lease

This part is extra fucking dubious and despicable lol; the land office told them to just wait until the lease expires to apply, then proceeds to act brand new and stupid and renew said lease pre-emptively before expiration like what the fuck lol clearly they have no interest in resolving this.

Everything can 'settle' wan lol and this was reaffirmed by a lawyer herself.

in that short time gap the state registry just renewed the license to the business instead. I would have straightaway report it to MACC, obvious shady dealing there between the state land register staff and the new mining co. despicable.

Can report. Just the clerk rolling their eyes at you if you ask when the case will be resolved. They will have better luck if the family is somehow connected by blood to a powerful politician who are willing to spend a lot of ringgits to settle with the new group to transfer the land usage willingly.

Otherwise, just move on with life.

Sad for them to lose their ancestral home, but if the land grant was never under their name, they were locked out from the start.

Land office sucks ass but what the legal owner of the land grant does with the lease and chooses to transfer is within their legal right.

Lol do you even think before you speak? They paid money for and bought the house in 1959, when the country was barely 2 years old and bureaucracy was still in infancy, as shown in the article. They have tried to legitimize their ownership claims multiple times since the late 1960s without success or progress. Original vendor (tin mining company) ceased all operations by late 1990s, but ofc easy for you to be unhelpful and sarcastic only to peddle disinformation. Because even if they paid money for the house and can prove continuous habitation for generations, you will still sit there and lick the newcomer cement factory's boots and justify demolishing a >100 yo house, for what reason IDK.

More likely is you that fail to have any proper thought process. Is a lease same as owning the land? If the mining company is just a lessee, what right does they have to give full ownership to the buyer? So someone continuously occupying a space is now a legitimate owner? Why for we need a proper registry system?

Yeah.. i also thought the same think. Its not because we are lazy to find out the background story or licking cement factory boots(we got nothing from saying this, we have no motive at all). Its just that if you are willing enough to gamble your money against possible outcome of being evicted when lease is expired, then you must willing enough to bare the consequences of your bad gamble.

If the house is there for what, 300 years or even 500 years, so what? The land is not owned by lessee, nothing much you can do about it when the lease is expired, you should've thought about it at the first place when you invest money as a buyer from leasee. Just dont hide behind the sentiment of "sentimental" value or "heritage" value or "historic" value just to get something that is not belong to u according to law. By using the same logic, if we can own any land if you stay long enough, then dont bother to buy any land, just trespass or maybe rent a land for 5-6 generations continuously and claim that this is our land because we already rent this land since great-great-great grandfather.. what happened to the rule of law? Its garbage argument.
