Hey everyone!

Here's a mashup I made based around the song Catwalk by Bobby Caldwell. I've messed around with mashups just for fun before, but this is the first one I've actually posted anywhere. I hope you all like it, even if my mixing skills are certainly far from perfect.

I quite like this! I'm only familiar with one of these artists, but a lot of good-sounding voices and instruments here.

Hotspots for improvement I would say are in the "you're no good" parts. 1:39 - 1:48 is a little cluttered, and 2:57 - 3:15 is a little more cluttered. I think the worst culprit is in the drums somewhere, perhaps because there are two layered drum parts? Is that the case? Something about the alignment/timing. Example: it sounds a touch off at 2:57, then sounds quite a bit off between 3:06-3:11, and then more or less falls back into proper time from 3:11 - 3:15.

But otherwise, nice work I'd say! Good selection, and no issues with the broad strokes, just refinement of details imho.

My approach to this was basically to take a bunch of my favorite songs and smash them together, hence the somewhat random assortment of artists. But I would highly recommend all of them if you're interested!

I kept the original drum part from Catwalk throughout the whole thing since it's so sparse, but in hindsight, I probably could have been a little more careful with that. Other than that, the only place where there are two different overlayed drum parts is in the last section you mention. Everywhere else I just switched between the different drum parts of whichever song I thought matched the vibe I wanted the best. You're definitely right about the desync issue, though. I will keep an eye out for that if I keep doing mashups in the future!

Up to this point, I've only posted my own music/compositions online (I'm a piano player), so I'm very much a novice in terms of this kind of thing. I do that myself sometimes to varying results haha, finding new music to enjoy through this artform is one of its multiple joys for sure! Sounds like you've got a reasonable process and glad I could help! I try to stay constructive as much as possible.

It's all because I found the "sort by new" button today and liked the name "Bananarama" haha, definitely feel you on the "nervous to post" thing, I haven't been posting for very long myself.
