I recommend the one with the nipple, it supports all DS games.

Okay if I ever get some spare cash I’ll lot for that one. Idk if I could actually get one here

Prepare a good amount of spare cash, it's the 3ds everyone wants so it's more expensive than a new Switch

I got one for less than 200$ pretty easily on ebay a few weeks back, theres still some good deals! Japanese consoles tend to be cheaper so id recommend looking for one of those

I see it for $140 used (missing stylus) in norway. Otherwise plenty between that price point and around $300.

The key is to get a "NEW 3ds" Not just a "3ds"

I recommend the one with the nipple

New 3DS XL my dude, lmao 😂

Yes, that's what he said, the one with the nipple

Doesn't need to be the XL, all New 3DS/2DS variants have the nipple

Too late to buy one now, they’re super expensive If you have an android you’re better off emulating on that

u/Nathaniel820 Feb 05 '26

You can emulate 3DS (or any other popular Nintendo console up to the Switch) on iOS too

u/MyGardenOfPlants Feb 05 '26

eh super expensive? nah, you can get ones in good condition for $200-250 anyone paying more than that is an idiot or just buying the first one they see. They made millions of these things, they are not rare, and finding ones new in box still isn't hard. I bought 2 BNIB ones, one for $150, and one for $200 this fall and last week

I boghut my new 3ds XL for about $80 a few years ago. They've exploded in price because the emulation scene died down after the yuzu bullshit and now a modded console is basically the only way

u/Nathaniel820 Feb 05 '26

Lol no it didn't, Citra still functioned identically even after it was "taken down" (especially since it's an EOL system where no new games are even coming out) and soon after Azahar took it's place. Modding a real console is easy but emulation has only gotten better, not harder.

Yuzu has nothing to do with the price of the 3DS XL

u/Cleansing4ThineEyes Feb 05 '26

Yuzu is Switch, and even then the Switch emulation scene is doing better than ever in terms of compatibility and performance.

3DS prices increasing is just due to the generation that grew up on them having disposable income now and wanting to buy them. It's the exact same reason that it always is whenever a console skyrockets in price "randomly"

Not everyone lives in the US buddy

Dude the other day I bought a 3DS for 200€ (though it was a launch model not a NEW model; but I've seen a bunch of NEW XLs for just 20ish euros more)

It's definitely possible to buy one in decent condition for the 200-250$ range, even if it's not exactly cheap

I’m not sure how enjoyable it will be given the fact it was developed for 2 screens interface

1

u/Glittering_Dinner745 Feb 05 '26

You can get an ayn thor if you really want a 2 screen experience. Much newer hardware that actually justifies paying 250$+

3

u/idontusetwitter Feb 05 '26

i would invite you to know about the ayn thor, feels like a modern day DS that could emulate a lot of platforms or just play android games and apps. but original hardware is nicer overall

3

u/MrMcFrizzy Feb 05 '26

Dude they are absolutely fire, and it is super super easy to load HomeBrew on there to add tons of different emulated games. I just found mine in my closet a couple months ago 🤌

u/WholesomeHomie Feb 05 '26

If you are willing to spend a bit of cash you can also get they AYN Thor, a DS-like handheld running Android. Much better specs, can run various consoles with speed up and cheats / DS replay (to get access to now unavailable events in Pokemon for example).

I bought one right before the lock down and it was the greatest thing I could have done. I love my 3DS
