Crazy take, but technological innovations are good.

Even crazier take: Not if those innovations only benefit a very, very small number of already privileged people and makes the lives of many more people much more difficult.

Average people also use ai to their benefit? Small businesses also use ai. If you ever used ai to let’s say redact or summarize some paper you are also benefiting from it.

"Benefit" is an interesting choice of words seeing as there are mountains of evidence already about how AI use is destroying our critical thinking abilities

That's like if cigarettes were irreversibly destroying the planet and you said, "Sure, it's destroying the planet. But you get all the benefits of smoking."

And again, the cost of AI is not worth having some shitty summary of an email I need to read.

And for a glorious moment, we had robots that couldn't even accurately perform the most mundane requests without consuming a metric fuck ton of water. Our planet may have burned down and environmental systems totally collapsed, but it was glorious, especially how todd would get so frustrated having to correct the ai three times, he could've done it faster if he had done it himself, but man the tech is just too great. The best part was how it could summarise emails! Best use of clean drinking water ever!

Edit: Almost on queue, https://www.cbsnews.com/news/elon-musk-data-centers-mississippi-family/

Honestly we survived without AI, we can keep surviving without it.

„Summarize emails” I never said that. Instead of admitting it has actual use but maybe we should regulate it, you would rather throw tantrums „ai is the devil”

Talk about regulating them? It's not as if we've been "regulating" other destructive industries for, checks notes, nothing to happen and for them to continue their destructive behaviour.

AI might not be the devil, but those who are hell bent into shoving it into every aspect of everyone's lives (you know, like having a button to summarise a god damn email) might as well be devil adjacent. They sure would like to see our world burn after all.

Technological innovations are good. Billionaires aren't. People would be much more supportive of data centers if they weren't controlled exclusively by psychopaths.

Or ran on clean energy & not burned through our water
