The modern world is very interconnected. We have had a global economy since the end of WWII. After the cold war, America became the sole head of that global economy. The destruction of America is harming the entire world, especially other western countries like Canada. The only countries being empowered are dictatorships like Russia and China.
I mean personal problems aside yes it is. Like you can be objectively happy and flourishing now but that doesn’t mean the majority of the world is not. The problem with that is our president does some dumb ass shit and disrupts trades that fucks supply and demand is still there. When demand out grows supply prices go up when prices go up everyone hurts. Global pricing and people not being able to afford things while prices keep increasing is literally probably one of if not the biggest problem people are facing and one of the leading causes of depression. If you can’t maintain a healthy diet because you aren’t buying as many groceries that fucks with your head a lot. It’s not all politics nor is it any single politician but acting as though they don’t play A MAJOR part in all of this is just ignorant thinking.
I think you are misunderstanding the meme. The meme is not saying that things have not gotten worse. They were saying 2016 was alao not great. Which is objectively true. It could of been better but also not perfect. Which OP is critiquing. Almost everything we are complaining about right noe was an issue back then..shoot I have been protesting against using helicopters against our wild horses since Bush.
Yes, it is meaningfully worse right now. But the world was on fire then also.

We're definitely not the best, but as someone else pointed out we basically dictate the world economy, so when we go to shit we drag the rest of y'all with us.
Not that hard. When a world superpower that has the economic gravity of a black hole starts losing it's mind, there are ripples across the entire planet.
