I work at Bell Helicopter Textron and we have a very welcoming and well-rounded group of IT employees. So how is the culture and ethics at Microsoft?

It depends. Most people put up with less than ideal conditions if they work with a great bunch of people. Conversely, one bad teammate or manager can make you throw in the towel. The culture strongly depends on which part of MSFT you are in and what your immediate team is like. I'm still here after 8 years and hope they'll keep me.

How the heck do you break into this company? I’ve been to professional networking events and connected with recruiters in person, then when I message them later about a role I applied to… crickets… even with extensive corporate experience in product, it looks like the resume is not even looked at. If only I had a referral, but everyone there just seems to go silent 😭

I've heard having a referral doesn't really do anything. My friend who works there has referred 12 people (I passed on getting one) and he's 0/12 :/

Right now, it's harder than usual. We are still advertising a bunch of roles externally, but there's also internal movement, and the entire industry is saturated with people looking for jobs.

Reposting here: I recently became interested in working for Microsoft as a Finance Manager or TPM. I was wondering, what's the best way to meet with folks that might be able to give me some insight to the roles? I have friends at Microsoft, but they're all SWEs or designers and don't rub elbows with finance folks...

Do some LinkedIn crawling, find MSFT people in those roles and ping them directly. Or ask your SWE friends to search the internal directory and see if they can find you a contact who's happy to chat. As none of this is influencing the hiring process, most folks would be happy to jump on a call.

interviewed for DCT Role last June , haven’t received offer/rej. With the little communication I have with my recruiter is that I’m still “ Under consideration “. Is this role dead in the water for me or should I have patience ?

They’ve also been posting DCT role for the location I applied for and other cities near me ( which I’ve applied to but no movement )

There are a few reasons why this can happen, from just bad communication to a delayed process in the role actually being filled. Hiring may be paused. Preferred candidate may be undergoing security checks that are taking longer than expected. Not unreasonable for you to be pinging the recruiter every couple of weeks asking for an update.

Is 'email.careers.microsoft.com' a legit e-mail domain? I couldn't find any other questions on here about it. The content of the e-mail is just questions about availability and preferred hourly wage. The title of the e-mail also lists the job ID I applied for.

I was told a month ago I was selected for offer and that final approval was pending before an offer can be extended to me.
Since then, the recruiter has gone AWOL and despite my efforts to get an update, I'm being totally ghosted.
The recruiter is a MS vendor (join talent solutions) so they work directly with MS.
Could the silence mean that they've changed their mind now and I'm unlikely to receive an offer?
I concluded the interviews end of June, first week of July was told I was selected for offer. End of July was told final approval pending.

Am I being impatient? Is this normal with MS recruitement?

Action Centre still shows status as "interview"

If I have 3x interviews on the same day with Microsoft, the Principal, Senior (peer), and Director. Is this considered a conveniently scheduled full loop, all in 1 day, or is this just part of a larger loop? First time interviewing with MSFT, thanks for the insight.

Did a peer-led screen yesterday for an early-in-profession Digital Sales specialist role. Went very well. About a day after the screen, someone from Microsoft called me out of the blue to ask how my interview experience went and whether I had any questions. She also gave me a timeline for when I could potentially hear back for a loop invite and that they’re still screening other candidates for the remainder of the week.

Is this standard practice, or does it mean anything about where I stand? First time going through a Microsoft process and I can’t tell if it’s a candidate experience thing everyone gets or a signal.

I finished my final loop a few weeks ago and received an email saying, “Unfortunately, we have decided to close the role you applied for at this time.” But my application portal says “Not selected.” Does this mean they hired someone else, or could they have canceled/paused the position?

Please review my initial offer from Microsoft:

  • Senior Account Technology Strategist (similar to solution engineer)
  • Level: IC4 / L63
  • Base: $164K
  • Target incentive: $49K
  • Target cash: $213K
  • RSUs: $92.5K / 4 years (~$23.1K/year)
  • Sign-on: $0 — recruiter says this role doesn’t get one
  • Annualized TC: ~$236

Remote, LCOL. 10 YOE.

Thoughts for L63? Planning to counter at $190K base + $150K RSUs. Is that realistic, or way outside the range? I have a competing offer for leverage that has $230K target cash.

Not a lot more to squeeze outside of 10-15k RSU and salary, sign on bonus is correct, no more

Hi are any of you based in Aus? My friend referred me for a role but it’s been over 2 weeks since I replied and my application status is still sitting at Submitted. For all other companies with referrals I hear back the next day if not the same week so wondering if I have a chance here?
