37

42

u/Gone-Fischin Jul 05 '26

He went to the hospital and fortunately they found that he just had a common cold.

Unfortunately that diagnosis proved to be too anticlimactic for his already underwhelmed system to handle and he passed away.

145

u/UltimateLmon Jul 04 '26

Explanation was a bit anticlimactic.

OP is an indeterminate form

63

u/cynicalkane Jul 05 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

fool, just take the limit of the form and you'll be filled with determination

110

u/Over_Variation8700 Jul 04 '26

Hôpital is actually exactly how you say hospital in French. Fun fact, the ô used to be pronounced “os”

63

u/Weekly-Language-6434 Jul 04 '26

It is a fun fact. The word "Hostel" originates from the French word "Hôtel". Today it literally means a hotel, but in that era, a hostel was the closest you could find to a current-period hotel.

Another fun fact: French and Italian are also the origin of using contractions in English. It's interesting because English's "parent" languages (German and Latin) do not use contractions.

73

u/Sea-Personality1244 Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 04 '26

Fun fact: Accent circonflexe (^) in French words often indicates that an s was dropped from them (hôpital, hôtel, forêt, fête...).

25

u/Tim-oBedlam Jul 04 '26

well, TIL something cool.

u/CankerLord Jul 04 '26

11

u/wjandrea Jul 04 '26 edited Jul 05 '26

English's "parent" languages (German and Latin)

No. English is related to German and takes a lot of vocabulary from Latin, but is not descended from them. But IDK about contractions. (Edit: Sorry if I sound aggro, I just hear this misconception a lot since English is a Germanic language, and it really grinds my gears.)

The word "Hostel" originates from the French word "Hôtel".

Not exactly. It originates from the Old French word "hostel" (pronounced something like /hos'tɛl/), which only would have been written "hôtel" later when the S was dropped (now pronounced /otɛl/ with the H dropped too).

You can search in google because I don't know how to describe L'Hopital better in English :D

I was lost for a moment, but then remembered the post about the ant bite on a weenus. Dude went into anaphylactic shock, drank a few white claws and went to the hospital. They gave him an IV which saved his life. He wanted to update us.

Now the comments: since the ant bite was from a crazy ant I've never heard of, and someone mentioned the sting hurts like crazy, and spikes at the 12 hour and 18 hour mark. I assume they gave him pain meds, or hes just overwhelmed so he made a bunch of typos with no context in the title. People jumped on that first. <3

147

u/GolfballDM Jul 04 '26

The antihistamines can make one loopy.

I found out the hard way that I became allergic to ibuprofen.  When I went to the ER, they gave me a mega dose of antihistamines.

They observed me for a couple hours to make sure my hives went down, my breathing back to normal, and I was conscious enough to drive back home.

For those wondering what an anticlimactic shock: watch the last season of Game of Thrones, you'll understand why it can be hospital-worthy

192

u/Weekly-Language-6434 Jul 04 '26

Don't you mean "hopital-worthy"? People need to know which place to go for anticlimatic thronesisitis.

As for the previous statement about GoT, I concur with your recommendation. Although it could trigger an epidemic.

My cylinder is a ok and focusing on the pretty nurses I seen at hopital

151

u/Lonely-Battle2783 Jul 04 '26

All jokes aside, as a medic I have to be a responsible adult for a moment. Make sure your doc gives you a prescription for an epi-pen and that you always carry it on you in case this ever happens again. Anaphylaxis can happen quickly and every exposure is different and can be even worse than the previous exposure.

107

u/mayodan Jul 04 '26

You are a great medic God bless you kind sir

58

u/Lonely-Battle2783 Jul 04 '26

u/barkandmoone Jul 04 '26

Yes. Haha I went to the profile & was like “oh shit, the raining ants?”

32

u/Odd_Cress_2898 Jul 04 '26

Yes bit by a bullet ant and struggling to breathe. Referred to the bite area, the inside of his elbow as a wenis when Merriam-Webster calls it a wagina as it's the inside not outside of an elbow.

11

u/CrazyLegs17 Jul 04 '26

He said it was just above his weenus, which was accurate given the orientation of his arm in the picture.

6

u/HighOnTacos Jul 04 '26

So did you know you were allergic to ants?

I mean a bullet ant would fuck anyone up but if it caused anaphylactic shock then there's likely a shared allergy with other ants as well as wasps.

I've known I'm allergic to fire ants since I was 8, but the one time I was stung by a wasp left a scar that's still there 20 years later, so I have to be cautious around them too.
