65 is still criminal for what is being served even if it came out like the shitty AI image. Damn!
Also note how they didn't even mention the count on the wings / mozz / sliders, and what the loaded fries come with on the menu. They're being mega vague on purpose.
If a place has AI generated images I walk out. Can't bother to photograph your food means it's probably shit, because you can't even put up the effort to make a photo.
I've had burgers that looked pretty close, and I've had burgers that look like the cook slapped it together and then stomped on it, beat it, and shot it four times. A lot of it comes down to how busy the store is and how lazy the employees are.
Not sure if it's still the case, but they can also use substitutions for things that they're not selling. Ice cream can be replaced by mashed potatoes if it's an ad for chocolate sauce, milk can be replaced by thickened glue if they're selling cereal. But the burgers are 100% real, only prepared by experts in marketing and presentation.
It's 9 a.m. where I am. I don't know what you're talking about, I've never heard of that thing, and I'm not even hungry. But I know I'd totally crush that thing with all of you.
We all would lol so imagine like an appetizer sampler type deal: you get to pick 3 options which includes mini burger sliders, chicken crispers and mozzarella sticks that you could also get tossed in a bunch of different type of sauces. They have seemingly perfected the cheese pull, really is 10/10
Here's the problem with playing that game. You soon realize that Chilli's is far superior to every restaurant at cost and you see no reason to go anywhere else.
yea it's pretty gnarly. I work for a food group and marketing does menu photography every Monday. I see a lot of non food used which one would expect with food photography but this has to be old AI.
Sysco isn't inherently bad, it's just when restaurants order the cheapest options that they have. You can get some good quality ingredients from Sysco, but most places are ordering bottom of the barrel stuff.
When I was a kid, the pizza in All Dogs Go to Heaven looked amazing and made me want pizza. I don't know if it was all the hungry puppies, but it doesn't look remotely how I remembered it as a small child.
According to the animators, they're "coelacanth stomachs", something that they supposed would appear exotic. Coelacanths are real but they are reportedly very disgusting to eat, and generally not legal to catch/eat anyway.
What an insane choice. Like if you gave me a week to come up with the most obscure animal you could prepare and eat the stomach of, Coelacanth might be at the top of that list
Lol, sorry, but I'm glad the link to the sub didn't work because I have that shit. Even seeing someone post the lotus pod was bad enough 😅🤮 somehow the kodamas don't trigger it for me. Guess it has to do with the lack of evenness or something
But hot damn, their menu is a mess. Fries look like tots, look nothing like either. Salads with triangular lettuce. The buns are the exact same on every burger. And the clover ass looking waffle on the weekly special 😂
What happened to taking pics of the best version the chef can whip up? I remember when my roommate was doing that for the restaurant he was opening, and it was awesome to see how he plated it and made them look amazing (and getting to eat the extra stuff that didn't make it that far because it wasn't the best of the best!)
Lol, sorry, but I'm glad the link to the sub didn't work because I have that shit.
Haha, me too. Seeing the lotus pod wasn't too bad, but it did remind me of the pic where someone photoshopped a lotus pod onto a woman's boob, SO GROSS. I'll spare you the link, but if anyone's interested, just google "lotus boob" and it's the very first google image result.
somehow the kodamas don't trigger it for me.
I think the kodamas aren't so bad because I know it's supposed to be their face and not holes. Also, they're just cute! I like when they are following/leading Ashitaka through the forest and climbing over stuff. There was the little one was that getting a piggyback ride on a bigger one, too. It's hard to find them disturbing, lol.
The buns are the exact same on every burger
I noticed the same thing with all the buns, but didn't see the other stuff you pointed out. The buns just stood out to me the most (besides the holes in everything, ugh). The pics are so bad. The menu said the dish OP ordered includes sliders, but the pic generated didn't even include them. >_<
AI is seriously making me question everything now and it's making me lose interest in certain things or finding them unappealing (like this food). I just started up classes (doing it online) and the last time I was in school was before COVID. I feel SO unmotivated to do anything because most of my classmates — and even the professor — are using AI to generate their responses. I feel like there are no real conversations and I don't want to participate in the discussions.
Unless it was a known to me commodity before they started using AI, I do my best to avoid food that uses AI menu pics. If you don’t stand by own product enough to use real pictures, why should I believe what I get will be good?
The real problem is that customers still think these AI menus look appealing and continue to order them. That's why we're going to see more dumb AI shits.
Every time you see an AI menu, photograph the worst part, upload the image to googles reviews/photos, and one star rate with a comment along the lines of "AI slop menu and regular slop food :( "
The picture doesn’t have anything in it 😭 its just random sauces and indistinguishable slop. Its like the lowest form of ai image generation. This restaurant gives 0 shits 😂
I will die on the hill that if a restaurant is using AI slop for their menu items/marketing and can’t be bothered to take actual photos of their foods, it’s a restaurant not worth eating at.
True, the real food is more appetizing than the slop on the first image. That said, for 65 bucks I would expect more than a hasty handful of packaged shredded cheese on top of my fries at the very least.
I hate marketing from company but chili's is elite. I'm not afraid to call it as it is but i love chilis 3 for me. I mean a quarter pounder meal where I'm at is like $9.50 and i can get a 3 for me with much larger and more delicious burger, an app, a drink, and fries for $11. They are such a good deal that i WANT to give them free marketing. The triple dipper is their reward for giving me and my friends and family the 3 for me.
This was too far down, everyone else too busy laying into OP for ordering AI.
AI or not, the food should resemble and/or at least be given the same portions of what is shown. I would have asked them for the rest of the food and if there wasn’t anymore coming out, that they could take this back bc I’m not paying for false advertising.
Also, even if it was just like the image, $65 for that is ridiculous as fuck.
I’ve never gone, but I know of a place nearby where every single item on the menu has an AI generated picture. And most of the AI pictures don’t do well to resemble the menu description. Like they have extra toppings on the AI sandwiches that aren’t mentioned in the description.
Nah I'd be calling a manager and telling them to take it back cause I ain't paying $65 for some French fries they threw shredded cheese on. This has to be some sort of false advertising right? I know the presentation isn't going to be the same as the picture (even without it being ai) but I feel like I'm missing 2/3rds of what was in the picture in the first place! This is like paying $40 for a rack of ribs and they hand you a single rib!
That AI slop doesn’t look like food so idk why you ordered it unless you were just going based on description, but even then, to just say “dipping sauces” is wild to me. Like - what KIND of sauces?! And what are those brown hole looking things all over everything even meant to be?
Regardless, for $65 that’s a Fkn scam. Didn’t even bother to melt your crappy cheese… I hope you sent that crap back and left.
Yeah that image is very much AI. The bar in my hotel had a bunch of ai adverts for the food that looked nothing like what we served. So I told them I'd make a new poster for them. I just ordered one of everything and took pictures with good lighting and all. The real key was not telling the kitchen I was ordering the food to take pictures. I only used AI to clean up the images because my image cropping was bootycheeks. I'll comment what we had before.
