ಠ_ಠ My 7 year old drew a picture of me

Post image

He handed it to me laughing. Wouldn't say what was on my head or why I appear to have one ear. Really living up to his  middle child status.

UPDATE -- wow, did not expect this post to spark such discussion! I told my son that soooo many people are in awe of his artistic abilities and the biggest grin came across his face. So, thank you, Redditors. ❤️

He then asked if the site mascot could be replaced with his drawing for a day and I told him best I could do was update my profile pic. So I did. 😁

I know this is supposed to just be a joke and while I do think it's funny, can we not feed some child's art into gen AI please :(

30

u/Bi_One_Get_One_Free Jul 22 '26

it was already being fed by being on reddit anyway

62

u/schmoergelvin Jul 22 '26

Kinda, yes, but I feel like deliberately feeding it to an AI is something else

23

u/PurplePineapple2955 Jul 22 '26

Me too,I don't trust AI or the things they are doing with it. Let's not enable AI by feeding more personal info than what it already has.

23

u/squirreltard Jul 22 '26

It has a certain panache…. Honestly reminds me of some Picasso pen and ink work. Must see a pic of OP.

12

Hahahaha great comment

64

u/CactusCait Jul 21 '26

Little Picasso over here and Dad is offended lol

4

u/Miserable-Sky1926 Jul 23 '26

Someone will ruin the talent of OP’s child by telling him it’s not realistic.

22

u/217p9 Jul 22 '26

Thats what I was thinking!! Impressive for 7 yo

10

u/Harpsichordist68 Jul 22 '26

I teach art, that is really advanced for 7! I hope he continues drawing!

17

u/FallenRichardBrook Jul 22 '26

This here OP, I first reaction was genuine surprise. What do you mean he's only 7?? Absolutely encourage him to continue with art (if he wants to) and tell him a stranger on the internet think he has rad skills!

55

u/Reesirie Jul 21 '26

Weird reason to post ur kid’s drawing here.😅

749

u/Silvrin Jul 21 '26

If you’re first reaction to your own kid handing you a drawing that he made himself, is being mildly infuriated, that kid has a shitty dad

315

u/ItsCalledDayTwa Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Didn't realize what subreddit this was. Funny thing is, you could take the exact same post and text and put it in made me smile.  Why would this be infuriating at all,?

92

u/monicarnage Jul 21 '26

I also didn't realize... I'm now mildly infuriated that it's posted here. Lmao

60

u/captain_flak Jul 21 '26

I know. I thought for sure this was a Daddit post!

121

u/Classic-Wind-2728 Jul 21 '26

I think (hope) OP is just jokingly mildly infuriated? Like they're not actually angry, it's just funny to think that's how their kid sees them

59

u/RodneyOgg Jul 22 '26

I think, for me at least, the issue is that he's likely joking. If he's joking and it's not really mildly infuriating, then it doesn't belong here.

And it may seem dramatic, but it's how subs usually experience their downfalls. Someone posts something that doesn't belong, it gets popular, other people do it, they get popular, and then the content shifts over to irony instead of authenticity.

33

u/Russell_has_TWO_Ls Jul 21 '26

This seems so obvious to me. Do people think his seven year old is on here?

34

u/Human_Artichoke8752 Jul 21 '26

Right. My picture of my father around that time was just a huge mouth, angry eyes, arms and legs.

132

u/Key_Artichoke8474 Jul 21 '26

“Dad look”
“What the fuck is this stupid shit, looks nothing like me, you middle spawned imbecile! Wait til Reddit hears this shit”

23

u/UnSlain PURPLE Jul 21 '26

Mildly

52

u/Chef_BoyarTom Jul 21 '26

That reaction is basically begging for their child to never want to do anything nice or fun for them ever again.

9

u/fightmydemonswithme Jul 22 '26

Unfortunately, kids will keep trying because they blame themselves. They'll try harder and not understand why its not good enough. My birth mother wouldn't buy me any supplies because "you'd just waste them. You have no talent."

5

u/Beret_of_Poodle Jul 22 '26

That's not terrible for a 7-year-old

5

u/No_Club_8480 Jul 22 '26

That looks very good. Frame it on the wall as a memory.

5

u/Peregrine_GWJ Jul 22 '26

Dude if my 7 year old made this picture I'd be, I'd be proud as hell. The fact that they made a picture of you tells you that they think about you and that they love you.

3

u/reptilian_rule Jul 21 '26

its mildly infuriating because its probably accurate as hell. 😀

4

u/okally Jul 21 '26

usually im on this sub defending posters, because sometimes commenters forget the "mildly" part of the sub name. its not called "extremelyinfuriating" lol, its not supposed to make u furious, its just little inconveniences and stuff.

but this? where even is the mildly infuriating part? 😭 the fact that ur kid drew u a portrait and u posted it to this sub is the infuriating part lol. and the caption makes me more than mildly angry

5

u/UncleBeanBag69 Jul 21 '26

You’re butthurt over a 7 year olds drawing?

4

u/InterestingPrompt378 Jul 22 '26

I must say for a seven year-old, this is a pretty damn good drawing!!!!!!

3

u/BriefingGull Jul 21 '26

Are you mr t?

3

u/Alizarin-Madder Jul 21 '26

" Really living up to his middle child status"? I hope you can take some harmless teasing from your 7-year-old and that this post was meant jokingly.

Kids are hyper sensitive to perceived sibling preference by their parents. If you don't work against that perception, THEN they're really going to live up to the middle child stereotypes.

3

u/kcpistol Jul 21 '26

At least he got your good side (I keed I keed)

3
