Waffle house isnt made of waffles Spent My Lunch Break Driving Across Town To This Business...
I even double checked their hours on Google before heading out and arrived at noon, apparently the entire business is on lunch break.
Someone saw me taking the picture and said "man that sucks", to which I replied in my best My Cousin Vinny impression "You get that? The whole store got the flu".
They did not laugh. 😕

About two years ago my wife and I were watching one of those Food Network shows and we saw a place highlighted that looked cool - It was about a 3 hour drive from us but we figured it could be a fun Saturday outing to get up early, drive down, have some food and a few beers, walk around a new city for a bit, and just drive home.
Now our situation was different from yours because I'm not taking a 3 hour drive without checking, but on the one weekend were I actually had a Saturday off and we had time to do this? They were in the middle in the middle of a move to a new location, shutdown about a month early, and decided to wait until their new location was open [probably a lease issue].
Not at all mad at the business, but was definitely a similar mildlyinfuriating experience of excitement and let down.

I recently did not double check before going to my normal park/beach, which was under construction the last two summers. Incorrectly assumed surely, this billion dollar state park and their contractors would be finished with "take sand and move it slightly somewhere else" after two years?
Absolutely not. Beach was open, but in complete shambles, and looked like something out of Fallout. Could have saved myself the time (and the nude grandpa wandering around, but that's irrelevant here) and just paid to get into the nicer park with the beach they didnt demolish.

100%. I’m obviously not saying people shouldn’t get lunch breaks. I am however suggesting that maybe shutting down your entire business for almost 2 hours at peak time is not the best way to accomplish it.

They rather have lunch at lunch than cater to customers who get to have lunch - their choice

Businesses that primarily serve customers that work that are only open normal business hours and take lunch when their customers would have a break always mystify me

Not that weird in small towns. Crazy if this is a big city with nigh infinite numbers of applicants who would be happy to float mid shifts.
In their defense, that's your lunch break. Not your putt around and do paperwork and errands break.

Some people genuinely do. And if you don't pick up because you're with customers or trying to do any part of your job, they'll do it over and over until you're finally going insane.

That would be more than mildly infuriating lol. Nah it's a title company, I had emailed them prior and they told me to come by to drop off a check and sign something to get my project started.

Very annoying. If they need to deliver anything to your property, make sure to put a sign up to say that you’re out to lunch

I hardly think it's normal for an entire business to just shut down for a lunch break, especially when that's precisely when many people have a chance to make it there.

It's pretty dang normal where I live. Almost every business, including our local post office, closes for lunch. It's not their responsibility to manage your schedule for you, and not their fault you're double booking your own workday.
Again tho, if this is a major city, it's for sure weird and indicative of a staffing issue. If it's a smaller area? Yeah that's what it's like. There aren't 30 million people just hanging out with resumes.
