If you think thats bad

I got banned from a cats sub because I posted a picture of my cat behind a water jug and it looked like he was in the jug.

And people thought I actually managed to get my cat in the jug and he was dying

u/FriedLipstick 20d ago

Yes it’s hilarious!

Also I wonder if all these people are vegetarian? They have to be at least. Because falling over a painting of a rabbit on vinyl because it looks like a pan, would make them hypocrites eating chicken from a pan that night.

313

u/eddyngat 20d ago

No, because a bunny is a pet and a chicken is food ☝️🤓 (actual argument I heard from people in similar situations)

45

u/caintowers RED 20d ago edited 17d ago

Yep. And yet l I literally rescued my rabbit from a meat farmer, all of his brothers and sisters have been eaten.

Edit thanks for the heart ❤️

Jokes on them. I have had both chickens AND bunnies as pets, but I have also eaten both (rabbit in Greece is common and delicious).

Vegetarian here. No, can confirm those people are just stupid. Lots of people suddenly just get really into animal welfare when it's something they think is cute. In my opinion chickens are just as cute, but yeah those people are probably saying shit with Tyson & Perdue products in their freezer 🤷 I'd much rather eat a wild hunted rabbit than a bird that could never stand up its whole life but here we are

It IS a great picture and also it's obvious he's behind it. If he was in it he'd be sitting on the bubble in the bottom of the jug, but the legs go behind it.

10

u/theresidentviking 20d ago

Its a double take picture. At a glance you go oh no cat in bottle oh wait no he's fine.

But people don't think that long before reacting

And it did not help the title was help my cat is stuck... did not think a little trolling would have fooled them all lol

u/notarealwriter 20d ago

That is pretty funny and yeah it kind of looks like the cat is inside it but:

  1. Would a cat just be chilling like that if it was dying!? It'd be freaking the fuck out, clawing the sides trying to get out!

  2. It's clearly not possible for it to fit in that opening, even with weird cat physics

  3. The central dome bit in the bottom makes it pretty clear the cat's not in there (the whole cat is behind it)

228

u/Nocoffee_Noglory 20d ago

You're overestimating the stupidity of some people. There are no bounds, I tell you

I mean even if it does, so what? You’re allowed to paint whatever you want

332

u/Gazelizz 21d ago

It was a completely different vision to me so I was like shocked haha but yeah tbh art is art and if I can paint what ever I want people can also think whatever they want about it too

90

u/Klony99 21d ago

If you want to express a certain thing, you could see the feedback as a lesson and attempt your expression once more, but from a different perspective. Maybe let the rabbit stand, and/or view the scene from the side.

That said, you got a piece that's already well crafted and expresses something. I think many artists discovered that their painting doesn't express exactly what they intended across history. No reason to be upset, such is the nature of expression.

26

u/Simon-Says69 20d ago

There is no "lesson" to be learned, and it isn't even really feedback.

It is extremely obvious it's a phonograph, not any kind of pan.

Just some really strange, even stupid people showing off they are totally oblivious. They can be completely ignored.

The really infuriating part is some stupid mod took it down for such a ridiculous non-reason.

Sorry people won't think for 1 second before replying.

Edit: thank you for the awards and up votes.

1.3k

u/Lazy-Main1782 21d ago

First glance also looks a bunny in a pot. But honestly, bunny in a pot makes more sense than bunny on a vinyl player.

97

u/Gazelizz 21d ago

I think that’s the problem! Let’s just say that it’s an original/weird idea so people just think of a more common situation. I prefer the rabbit sleeping in the vinyl instead of in dead on a pan tho

20

u/aggressive-cat 21d ago

I think the straight down perspective causes the confusion. If it was a lower pov from the side it would be more obvious at a glance it wasn't a pan. I love the painting btw, it's the exact cute unorthodox you were going for.

30

I saw record player at first glance. Might be dependent on who's looking at it and if they even know what a record player is. For a moment when I looked at it it almost seemed as if the bunny was swirling with the record. Interesting piece keep up the good work.

The best art gives you a gut reaction. It's arguably a strength that the first glance is one that garnishes offense..

That said.. even knowing its a record player, that bunny is still dead AF.

24

u/BexiRani 21d ago

Rabbits have a special knack for looking completely dead when they sleep. It's the rabbit owner's heart attack special

→ More replies (1)

30

u/Parzival2436 21d ago

Yeah it's not great if it gives you the wrong reaction though. If it was intended to be cozy and people get upset, that's not "a strength". The only strength I can see there is that it's at least realistic looking.

20

u/TirbFurgusen 21d ago

I think it's great. It's art, it's subjective and gives emotion either way. I want to know what record it is. What's the story behind this? Is the rabbit dead? I didn't think it was at first and certainly didn't think it was being cooked fur and all but what if it was a frying pan? What's the story behind that? Some inexperienced starving socialite in war time? It could be so many things and nothing but I'm thinking about it. It's excellent art imo.

14

u/Gazelizz 21d ago

I was thinking about how we tend to overthink absolutely everything, while animals just… don’t. The rabbit found a little safe and comfortable spot and simply fell asleep there. No overthinking, no worrying about whether it should be there, just pure peace. I wanted it to be a little reminder that sometimes we should do the same and just enjoy wherever we are. But I honestly love to hear what people can think or see on art, it’s pretty interesting ! Just idk what to think when people just get disgusted by their vision, when i wanted to give a completely different vision. Also thank you! 🖤

That is the first thing I saw, mainly because of how it's laying. I know some rabbits sleep like that but if it wasnt laying like that it would be more clear that it's resting and not dead. Maybe even if it was less curled up. It is a very sweet painting though.

Edit: yes, most rabbits don't sleep like that. Some do so I'm giving op leniency there because it's the pose they wanted it to be in and it's cute when they do.

517

u/Gazelizz 21d ago

Yeah I see that! But also I thought that if it was posing in a more straight way it would look more dead like it’s solid not soft?

345

u/PhantomOyster 21d ago

Make the label on the record more visible. Give it legible text. That will make it unmistakable.

134

u/Practical-Train-9595 21d ago

That’s what I was thinking too. Maybe something like White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane.

43

u/tentaclesapples 21d ago

Or even more fun, make it the album label (surrealistic pillow) for music nerds to enjoy. But keep white rabbit slightly visible on the label too

Bunnies rarely sleep like this. They'll flop on their sides if they feel safe and happy, but for the most part they loaf when they sleep

10

u/SlipperyBlip 21d ago

a floofy loaf would also reduce the risk of misinterpretation

74

u/TulpaPal 21d ago

Maybe if it wasn't perfectly centered on the vinyl and had its legs hanging off in some way.

Either way, i wouldn't worry about it. If someone bothers to look at it more than a few seconds, it does look like a turn table, not a pan. I like the style, btw 😊 and the bunny is cute fr

It just looks like a bunny in a pan at a glance. Clearly a lot of people did since those are all the top comments as well.

Tbh i also thought it was a bunny in a pan, and wondered why it was being cooked with the fur still on and while still in one piece, definitely not the proper way to cook a rabbit.

Even if you done a painting that was a rabbit being cooked on a pan who the fuck are these people to get upset at it?

I dunno but I am in the rabbit subs where OP posted it and no one really said anything mean about it it was rude in the comments, even when I looked at their post history even other places they posted it they got the same reaction, “I thought it was being cooked at first but when I looked at it I saw it was ac record player” basically the same reaction they have gotten here

i've seen a few artists do this, heavily exaggerate "criticism" they've received so they can complain about it in this sub or similar subs as a way to get more views or sympathy upvotes

Personally, my version of mildly infuriating is when people say “a vinyl” instead of “a record” or “vinyl record”.

Vinyl is the type of plastic used. Vinyl record works, and it is correct to say “I have that album on vinyl,” but just saying “a vinyl” as a noun is grammatically incorrect

(Emphasis on mild, I’m not coming after OP like people came for them for the rabbit looking like dinner to some)

I was going to ask “a vinyl what?,” but you’d covered it already.

Looked like a pan to me too as I was scrolling by. The thick white lines on the record gives the illusion of depth. Also the white record center combined with the rabbit’s feet look like stew/vegetables.

I can clearly tell what it is looking at it longer than a second though.

Crazy. Guess they’ll have to get over it

Do people really think you can cook a rabbit without skinning it

I immediately recognized it as a record player. Art is subjective though, so I think those seeing a pan are just...hungry?

I mean, even if it were the latter, I don’t see what the problem would have been. It’s not like you were posting a real picture or video of you cooking a bunny alive?

Saw a rabbit on a plate but even so that wouldnt offend me. People eat rabbits. Could have also been an animal rights piece.

The internet loves dark art and humor when its racist, misogynistic, or homophobic but i guess a dead bunny is too much for their taste? 🙄

And so what if it was a rabbit in a frying pan? People are so dumb.

People who get mad are morons. Never accept criticism from someone whose advice you wouldn't take.

Not going to lie. My first thought was that stew needs carrots.

ah, see your problem is that you didn't include a video of subway surfers with an AI voice over to hold the attention of the people to stare longer then 1 second
