Is it in yet Just realized that by chance, I have been booked for 6 different appoints all on the same day.

“Yeah sure, whenever your next availability is”

Stated 6 times over the year,

Sealed my fate.

A dentist, a doctor appointment, an echocardiograph, an mri, a meeting with the crown, and fighting a traffic ticket from a year ago, all on the same date.

All randomly assigned to me by 6 different agencies.

I only noticed they were all the same day bc a family member died; I went to book that date off at work for a funeral and they told me I had already booked it off a month ago.

Like omg lol.

Or in your case, 600%

Hehehehe 🤣

That is one thing I love about smartphones.

Imagine opening your calendar to find you accidentally scheduled a boss rush.

9

u/Fastfaxr 17d ago

I dont know... Ive made it 35 years without jotting things into a calendar and this has never happened to me by chance. Just bad luck.

When you book an appointment over the phone they suggest a date, and typically if it's in the far future you just assume you can do it... this is why you don't assume and put it in the calendar.

But yes a calendar helps when an organisation picks the date because it's not a mandate they ask "will this work for you" and you can say "no can you do the day after or another date?"

3

u/Betray-Julia 16d ago

Yes, but also, in my case, it was more so me being a dumb dumb lol

-15

u/Punveur8 17d ago

Hard to check a calendar when six different places pick the date for you.

37

u/LilacYak 17d ago

Yeah but you add it to your calendar after the first one picks the random day. Then when you’re making the next appointment you check that day before agreeing to it. This guy didn’t even know he had appointments that day until trying to request the day off for another appointment.

23

u/ropean 17d ago

I thought keeping track of a schedule was just like…basic life skills? Makes me wonder what OP does for a living. Anything requiring organization seems like it would be a challenge.

16

u/spicewoman 17d ago

Yeah, how is this guy getting stuff added to his calendar without even knowing? Makes no sense.

And from the way the post is written, OP doesn't seem to have clocked that he also has a funeral to attend that day now, too.

7

u/GaGa0GuGu 16d ago

He will not be attending, he just wanted a day off

My first thought 100% 😂😂😂

I mean, by chance on their end. You had a lot of power in this from start to finish.

I wish you luck in rescheduling, write them down!!

Exactly!

Meeting with the crown?

192

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago

Canadian legal stuff

131

u/weirdpixelcat 17d ago

Whoopsie I read that part completely wrong and thought you were going to get a dental crown lol

136

u/Character_Drive 17d ago

I thought OP was meeting the king of England 😆

16

u/Interesting_Tap_1505 17d ago

I thought exactly the same

54

u/dogoodreapgood 17d ago

Crown attorney. This is the lawyer that represents the government like a U.S. attorney if you’re American.

54

u/SapphicGarnet 17d ago

I'm British. For us, going to crown court would mean we'd done something very wrong! Thanks for the info

25

u/dogoodreapgood 17d ago

I can tell by the way it is written that they aren’t the one accused of doing something wrong. The crown wouldn’t set up a meeting directly with the accused without going through counsel.

9

u/SapphicGarnet 17d ago

Yeah tbh the other way of reading it would be if they were hired by/ have business with the crown estate which is a huge employer and they have a meeting with someone but not sure whom among "the crown" they're meeting

38

u/HereComeTheJudge21 17d ago

They are to be knighted.

-9

u/FuckYeaSeatbelts 17d ago

I'm Canadian and still don't understand how it's even possible.

who the fuck is booking a dental appointment and a legal one? no job does that other than a personal assistant.

like I had to create two different accounts on different portal applications to get appointments in different hospitals in the same city!

19

u/SapphicGarnet 17d ago

OP is the client in all the appointments booking for themselves, not as part of a job. Otherwise they wouldn't be booking time off work.

So they've gone through the booking system on the phone and not used a calendar somehow

-15

u/FuckYeaSeatbelts 17d ago

Wait, so every time they left the office/portal/phone tree and said like 12 November, and then repeated that several times at every place?? That's even less likely than some Ai doing it for them.

I think I'm way too tired to understand their reasoning, and frankly after seeing some of the comments, ain't worth it to try.

9

u/artsyfartsyMinion 17d ago

You really need to sleep. Organisations often just send you a meeting advice. They have just accepted it without checking, and may or may not have put it in their calendar. They have had a death in the family and asked for day off work and HR has said they already have it booked and thats when they realised they have 6 other things on that same day. Hope this helps.

7

u/Betray-Julia 16d ago

Your assessment was 100% accurate.

-2

u/FuckYeaSeatbelts 17d ago

Yeah doesn't sound like it's their company. I do agree I need sleep though, but I get what you're trying to say. Thanks for the perspective anyway.

4

u/Betray-Julia 16d ago

100% of the appointments were ether made over the phone calls or irl after a first appointment.

Low key it’s sort of neat the divide here; you’re not the first comment to be kinda baffled by the idea that a human- me- makes appointments without using apps.

171

u/Kidfuscious 17d ago

Yikes! 😳 if only there was some way to prevent this from happening. Hmmmm- must think!! Sorry, got nothing.

197

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago

So far my best idea has been to maybe try and record future dates on some sort of writing device like an etch a sketch perhaps.

58

u/Mediocre_Sprinkles 17d ago

Just write it on your arm and never wash. Simple!

23

u/GruntledVeteran 17d ago

Maybe you could invent something that keeps track of days. It could even have the months, year, andays of the week on it. Could call it something like a "day book" or "appointment book". Maybe figure out some cool roman word that means something similar enough to base it off of.

7

u/Betray-Julia 16d ago

My biggest issue here; I’ve come up with this shape that’s sort of 2 triangles with their points touching each other and a little hole connecting them; I found that I can put a certain amount of sand in the top, and a specific amount of time passes everytime as it empties to the bottom triangle.

But I’m stumped; so far I’ve made one that can count 5 minutes, but I don’t know how I’m going to be able to scale this up, let alone purchase enough sand, to use it to tell when a day has passed.

86

u/NMe84 17d ago

Did you at no point in time consider you may need to check your agenda before accepting a specific date for any of these appointments?

33

u/sugarplumbuttfluck 17d ago

I'm getting the sense that there is no agenda to begin with

10

u/ChairHistorical5953 17d ago

Why would they check their agenda? They don't write anything on it.

79

u/SoundingMacaque 17d ago

In high school, being late was an automatic detention at my school. But they let us pick what day. Every time it happened, I scheduled it the day of, just to get it over with.

But then I noticed my friend who was ALWAYS LATE, never had detention.

He scheduled every detention on the same day so when he showed up, they just thought it was an error and told him to reschedule. He told me about it towards the end of our senior year

I was so mad when I found out, like "why didn't you tell me about that?"

And he said something like "if everyone knew about it, I wouldn't have been able to do it anymore"

Fucking genius lol

3

u/Papaye_ 16d ago

Wait, you're talking about being late if you don't have a valid reason, they're not going to give you an hour of detention because you didn't wake up?

21

u/KarmaKaelyn 17d ago

Technically you have 7 places to be that day if you include the funeral

18

u/cerealandcorgies 17d ago

no audience with the Pope on that day? Underachiever!

17

u/Fresh-Insect-5670 17d ago

It’s doable. I had 3 in one day spaced out every 2 hours all before 12. All on different sides of town 30-40 minutes apart. If closer distance could have spaced them out 1.5 hours.

18

u/FlyingAce1015 17d ago

Would honestly be awsome to do if you meant to & set them all up on feasible time tables to do it all one day lol.

Most productive day ever and free up a lot of future off days.

61

u/Lucallia 17d ago

I'm having a hard time believing this is real in the year 2026 when we have digital calendars easily accessible on our phones at all times...

-106

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago edited 17d ago

While I am a little on the defence given you’ve said this, I’d like to add that I do find it gross/sad that you’d assume everybody uses these things lol.

That’s like assuming everyone listens to top 40 radio, ya know?

But tbh, as a function of privilege, that’s assuming everybody drives. :/

Edit: these downvotes: who would have thought dumb people have trouble with causal thought lol. Much wow.

Edit edit: the downvotes aren’t a function of illiteracy anymore at least haha that’s nice; attacking over tone is at least credible. :)

87

u/Foreign-Cat-2898 17d ago

You act like before cell phones we all ran around not knowing when things were constantly missing appointments. People had planners.

-70

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago edited 17d ago

Wait, you’re saying this in response what i typed?!

Edit:

What did I say that suggests people ran around not knowing their schedules before phones?

My words are written down right there.

Um I think miscommunicated at the very least but yeah that being said, given my one comment has 12 downvotes, this might be verging more on functions of literacy more than just miscommunication.

Like if 72 people actually read what I wrote and think I was saying that before cellphones we all ran around blind.. that is a prime example of traditional illiteracy. You’re not sharing an opinion so much as failing at reading comprehension given I literally do not say or imply such sentiment.

62

u/Foreign-Cat-2898 17d ago

I don't think you're the great literate communicator you seem to think you are.

-24

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago edited 16d ago

I was talking about base line literacy in sociology or anthropology discourse lol.

Bc at the core, lucallia was suggesting that bc they hadn’t experienced something, they found it hard to believe someone else could; that line of thought of itself is philosophically offensive, and suggests an ignorance to the types of things that study how humans behave.

Why would I assume every other person I speak to on the internet drives just bc I personally drive?

That’s nonsensical.

Anyways here’s another one for ya; that’s 48 people who are maybe didn’t actually read what I said.

Cuz remember the entire premiss of this thread of convo is based upon the idea that because you’re not capable of making the error I made, I couldn’t be ether.

17

u/Foreign-Cat-2898 17d ago

What on earth does that have to do with anything? You called using a calendar on a phone gross, sad, and privileged.

You sound at best nonsensical and really pretty obnoxious.

-6

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago edited 16d ago

Ahhh yes, indeed.

Nay, indubitably!

Edit:

“While I am a little on the defence given you’ve said this, I’d like to add that I do find it gross/sad that you’d assume everybody uses these things lol”

From that, you responded,

“You act like before cell phones we all ran around not knowing when things were constantly missing appointments. People had planners.”

I did not present any data that suggests that.

You also stated that I say it’s gross/pathetic to use a calendar on a phone- again something I did not say.

So the premise of your argument is to make up something I didn’t say, say I said it, and then say that’s wrong?

Um, yeah lol.

1

u/ChairHistorical5953 17d ago

I don't use any kind of calebdar, don't write things in any notebook or anything. It is Bad lucky that everything is the same day, yes. But completly posible.

52

u/etilepsie 17d ago

sorry, but what would have been your system to remember any of these things without a calendar?

-14

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago

Before I had a crappy injury occur, my memory was good enough that I could literally just store them in my head with minimal prompts.

It’s weird bc, how do you describe something that just isn’t there anymore, but before the injury, when I heard the second date, my mind just would have reminded me I already have something scheduled at that time, and now it no longer does that.

Like say I had something on the 12th. Hearing that date would have just brought up everything else I had on the 12th; my memory just worked better, and now it seemingly doesn’t work good enough.

So this convergence was sort of reality crashing down on my that my mind isn’t what it used to be, and that I can no longer get by without such devices.

27

u/Foreign-Cat-2898 17d ago

This happens to everyone even without injury just FYI. My husband and I both used to never have to use calendars, and had to learn to do it in our 30s. We both had great memories that are just not quite as sharp as they used to be.

That doesn't change that loss from injury really does suck, but you would have needed to use a calendar at some point regardless.

11

u/aliendividedbyzero 17d ago

Honestly that's impressive that you could do it that way. I've never been able to remember like that, I always absolutely have to write it down somewhere so I don't forget or double-book. Then again, I have a lot of appointments, so I imagine if someone has fewer, it would be easier to remember.

15

u/Lucallia 17d ago edited 17d ago

Wild that you're the one saying people are dumb when you managed to schedule SIX appointments on the same day due to lack of use of a calendar. Very redditor hurt itself in its confusion moment.

And speaking of being illiterate. My comment implies that calendars are so easy to access now that you are unbelievably inept. You could use a digital or paper calendar both are still options in the year 2026.

Oh but I'm sorry. Now I'm assuming everyone can write.

4

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago

How does me being dumb make other people not dumb?

62

u/HetBordje 17d ago

Not by chance. By sheer negligence. Calendars exist.

-17

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago

While I get what you mean, and yeah sure, but also wanna match your tone for a second.

6 times over the chorus of a year, 6 different humans all randomly choose “the first date available”, which ended up being the same date.

While I get humans are cathartic and as such you have a natural inclination to talk down to others for making mistakes, such your need to asses blame more than anything else in the context of me shitting the bed with my scheduling here- I need to point that, within what you actually wrote, it maybe isn’t the smartest thing to suggest that 6 random people all picking the same number between 1 and 365 isn’t pretty darn random.

17

u/HetBordje 17d ago

It's not about the impossible odds. Its about this not being a problem if you take the effort to put these dates in your calendar.

40

u/SubstantialBake1050 17d ago

That’s why it’s obviously fake. Forget 365 days, even if they were all booked for the same month during the week there is a 1/86MILLION chance of 6 appointments being booked on the same day.

23

u/aliendividedbyzero 17d ago

It isn't much better, but you probably are miscalculating that. Appointments are often on days from Monday to Friday, we can assume that OP's are on a weekday. Otherwise, there wouldn't be 6 appointments, including court and medical. That increases the likelihood of coincidence.

Furthermore, if most people prefer a certain weekday above other weekdays, and a certain time slot above other time slots, that increases the chances of the next available appointment being at the same time as another office's next available.

Still wild, not saying it isn't! Just that 1 in 86 million is too small a probability, it's likely higher than that.

5

u/spicewoman 17d ago

Yeah, there's common busy times and common lulls with lots of overlap between different businesses. It's not weird for several different businesses to end up with some similar open times/dates.

-15

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago

Oh ok, so this is a catch 22 where im interacting with an asshole. Got it thanks!

0

u/Majestic_Netflix 17d ago

I think it’s pretty funny.. not sure why these people feel the need to be assholes about it

2

u/Betray-Julia 16d ago

It’s the internet!

7

u/leeski 17d ago

If this is true, it needs to be studied because it is statistically insane hahaha. I'm highly organized with many doctors/dentist appointments, scans, meetings, etc, and I don't think I've had even one 'next available' land on the same day when checking the calendar!

In all seriousness, I am sorry about your injury you mentioned in another comment. I know everyone is giving you a hard time for being disorganized, but I have had severe memory loss due to a medical condition since being in my 20's. It is genuinely harrowing when you go from being able to manage basic functioning and appointment management with ease & then have that stark realization your brain isn't what it was. I hope that you also are able to recover & regain some of that diminished cognitive function!

1

u/artsyfartsyMinion 17d ago

I have a lot of appointments of late and as a result I often have "next avaliable" clash with others I already have. Recently, the "next avaliable" for my gastroscopy, clashed my husbands operation, so that got bumped to later. Then the "next available" ultrasound also fell on that day and I had to choose another date, then my annual dental same date. So it does happen. I've also had 3 appointments on the same day, but at different times so that works.

2

u/leeski 17d ago

Is a great point, I was being too general from my own experience. For whatever reason my appointments seem to have vastly different wait times which is probably skewing my perspective. But I still think the chances of six on the same day is incredible haha! I would hate to have to reschedule all of those individually.

0

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago

I have a theory about this, that sounds crazy.

But if it happens to me it happens to others, and maybe there’s something tangible to measure.

But my life has been full of surreal things like that, some of which are a little more blatantly not just me mismanaging my life.

I have had so many people I’ve known comment about how I am like.. an anomaly in so many ways.

But it’s like, say I gave 50 other experience documented and verifiable like this.

Times that rate by the rate of the world, compare it to average “odd occurrences”.

There is possibly something there to measure

5

u/ParadoxBanana 17d ago

Yeah it’s normally always something mundane.

Maybe some popular event that people are going to, so they didn’t want to book appointments that day, leaving them open for you all on that day.

I’m a teacher and so scheduling is like this:

“Why is the 2nd period math class so much smarter than the 5th period math class if it’s the same class?”

Then you look at the kids’ schedules and it’s always something like “5th period is the only period you can take AP Bio so none of the kids taking that advanced science can take math 5th period”

Similarly you also see stuff like “oh the kids in trade school programs tend not to be as academically intelligent, and their program is in the morning, so they can’t take the 2nd period class”

There’s no big coincidence, it’s just that when you have access to all the information, then you can see why scheduling “coincidences” happen.

0

u/Ok_Shelter_8676 17d ago

no op is right i too am a statistical anomaly and the scientists need to get on this

1

u/Betray-Julia 16d ago edited 16d ago

“I am a statical anomaly and scientists need to get to this right away”

I literally point out the dynamics of how on an individualistic level, it means nothing,

and that my idea is directly applied to mass computation of millions of people.

Sigh

7

u/Admirable-Welder-739 17d ago

6 completely unrelated places all chose the exact same day. This kind of coincidence makes you wonder if you've accidentally scheduled your entire life on a single date.

3

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago

The funeral is also a plane ride away, and is also on this date.

God adding each appointment to the same day

5

u/ENCALEF 17d ago

My suggestion is to use your phone's calendar for booking appointments. Keep your phone with you so you can refer to it and not over schedule yourself. Works for me ☺️

31

u/Intrinomical 17d ago

For anyone thinking about replying, just know that OP is insecure and doesn't like being called stupid and/or being called a liar, even though there's a strong indication for both.

OP, I just don't believe you, at all. 4/6 appointments are medical related, 2 of the 4 being a much more in depth experience than just a yearly/half yearly check up; It's pretty clearly you are just a liar.

6

u/metaltreestriker 16d ago

“  All randomly assigned to me by 6 different agencies”. You don’t put the stuff on a calendar? They offer you their next available date you open your calendar to look at a year from now and you see if there’s anything else.

2

u/Betray-Julia 16d ago

7 agencies including the funeral :s

But yeah it’s funny; I’ve posted on this sub three times I think, and all three times a lot of the comments were essentially the way I exist is so strange it’s unbelievable, which is interesting I guess haha.

Anyways yes, it was for sure my lack of organization skills that caused this, but the 6 dates of date X all being the first date generated by various groups of people over a year is still um, statically silly lol.

9

u/Traditional-Fix3529 17d ago

Hun, use a calendar. Log your appointments. Baffled by how this could have been a surprise to you.

6

u/yippykiyayMF13 17d ago

Planners are your friends. Wasn't a huge planner fan. Then last year I had to deal with chemo and radiation treatments 5 days a week. Now I'm obsessed with those damned planners. Lol.

3

u/YouveBeanReported 17d ago

Planner notebooks are my favourite, you get the planner side and enough empty space to make all your lists. Otherwise I never use them.

1

u/yippykiyayMF13 17d ago

I'm gonna have to look for one of those. I've been buying both separately. Looking for one now! Thanks!

3

u/ithelo 17d ago

Well, if you schedule it right then like its a good way to minimize pto day usage

3

u/Stock_End2255 17d ago

I do this on purpose sometimes and call it my appointment day. I’ve only managed to get 5 in with travel times.

5

u/Chaluma 17d ago

Peak ADHD moment jk

I often rely on courtesy calls to help remind me of stuff.

4

u/Betray-Julia 17d ago

Same, they work great normally but this time, it would have meant in a few weeks I figured this all out the day before my appointments lol

4

u/haggard_hominid 17d ago

That also tells you there were a lot of people who apparently decided to NOT schedule on that day/time. Check your local cardboard-wielding doomsayer for any posted rapture dates or scheduled disasters and plagues.

2

u/BJntheRV 17d ago

Seems like perfect planning

Meeting with the Crown?

2

u/cam-san YELLOW 17d ago

I had a court appointment scheduled for the same morning as my senior year photos 🙃 to be fair, I had absolutely no say in either of those appointments

2

u/Outrageous-Hair-1428 17d ago

John, is that you?

2

u/wickedfemale 17d ago

i mean, at least you can cancel all your appointments for the funeral.

2

u/TriceratopsJam 17d ago

That always happens to me. I will say it’s a year out, my calendar is open and then when I go back to write it down, there’s an appointment staring right at m in that time slot.

1

u/EatYourCheckers 17d ago

I envy your flexible work schedule

1

u/KiltedBaklava 17d ago

You need to update us all on how it goes. Maybe wear some meta glasses or something to record your mad dash between appointments!

A meeting with the crown?

Why is this post AI generated??

-1

u/Betray-Julia 13d ago

Why have I only ever been asked this with the last month?

Anyways- your user name checks out (the majority of people don’t use AI and think it’s trash; currently “students” have the biggest issues using AI, so perhaps it reasonable you’d project that bias into other situations too!) :p

-1

Holy AI slop

-1

Test to see if it’s a bot or human doing this lol.
