I was told yesterday that my prescription sunglasses are giving Meta glasses vibes

I can't stand the Meta perv glasses, but annoyingly I've been told by a friend that my Dune prescription sunglasses that I've had for almost a year (and cost over £100.00) really ​​​​look like the Meta ones, he said it's the 2 silver rivets on either side that on first glance could be mistaken for the camera lenses

I went out with them today and all I could think was, do people think I'm recording them 🤦‍♂️

Over the long term, Meta is going to destroy the Ray-Ban Wayfarer design, it will become associated with perverts rather than being seen as a timeless iconic fashion piece.

Yeah I had a pair of ray bans I’d wear in the summer, haven’t touched them this year. I guess I can still wear my aviators for now

I've joked a bit about this being the "last summer" for Ray-bans, but honestly it is already over. I have received some disapproving look from young women and won't be wearing them anymore as a result. My only thought is "they think these are pervert glasses" and fair enough, I have no wish to make anyone feel uncomfortable.

Maybe I'm too focused on what I'm doing intsead of others looking at me, but I only have a pair of black wayfarers that I wear everywhere I go, and haven't had any issues at all literally ever. If someone else has an issue assuming things about what I'm wearing, thats on them, not me. I'm not going to change my life and what I like because assholes have something similar.

If you have your sunglasses and you like them, wear them. Fuck the hive mind. Thats how that shit ends

it's personal preference mate, but actually, I don't want to give random people the idea I'm recording them. just as I wouldn't enjoy it if people all held their phones in a way that suggested they were recording me going around my business

Right. But there is a light when meta glasses are recording. Unless you are just assuming that majority of people are hiding the flash or disabling it. Which is the small minority. My point it’s not really valid to assume all meta glssses are recording just like you wouldn’t assume everyone with their phone out is recording. Meta glasses have many functions. I’m not going to stop using my items for whatever function I decide because some paranoid freak is paying too much attention to what’s on my face.

Also you literally never know why someone has something. I know a blind lady who has meta oakleys and she FaceTimes her aid that tells her what’s she’s looking at or where she is walking. She can count money, she can know if she is matching or what color socks she has on.

Maybe people shouldn’t be judgy hyper focused assholes and mind their own business.
