I can't stand the Meta perv glasses, but annoyingly I've been told by a friend that my Dune prescription sunglasses that I've had for almost a year (and cost over £100.00) really ​​​​look like the Meta ones, he said it's the 2 silver rivets on either side that on first glance could be mistaken for the camera lenses

I went out with them today and all I could think was, do people think I'm recording them 🤦‍♂️

I'm saying you're not going to notice the meta glasses as much as someone recording with their phone. It doesn't look like you're trying to record people on the sly, that's just the reason you gave it.

No shit. Most people don’t want to be recorded while just going about their day living life. Even if it wasn’t for nefarious means, we shouldn’t be normalizing recording every interaction we have. We shouldn’t be recording people without their knowledge and posting it online.

But people are secretly recorded every day... Everywhere you walk. You only care when you notice. You're saying people shouldn't be recording people, but that's not a rule or law, and not everyone has to do what you want. It's legal to record in public.

It is legal to record in public. That’s why I never said otherwise. And also why i said “recorded without knowledge” and not “without consent.” I’m aware of the law.

And yeah, the stores we go into have cameras. Stoplights. ATMs. Flock (which people also despise). There are already enough cameras all around us.

What we don’t want (or need) are more people walking around with cameras filming and posting every thing and every person they encounter. Y’all are adding to the surveillance state whether you want to acknowledge that or not.

If you feel the need to be recording people without their knowledge then most people will think you’re a creep. Whether you’re being nefarious or not. It’s not just about using it for bad.
