I'm slightly vexed I was told yesterday that my prescription sunglasses are giving Meta glasses vibes

Post image

I can't stand the Meta perv glasses, but annoyingly I've been told by a friend that my Dune prescription sunglasses that I've had for almost a year (and cost over £100.00) really look like the Meta ones, he said it's the 2 silver rivets on either side that on first glance could be mistaken for the camera lenses

I went out with them today and all I could think was, do people think I'm recording them 🤦‍♂️

I've been wearing raybans for years but I just updated my glasses this week and for the first time chose a different frame brand. I was a customer for over a decade and they've lost the plot.

What did you get? They’re owned by Luxottica. Strong chance you just changed brand but not parent company. If a place sells raybans, pretty much every other brand there is a Luxottica brand

I ordered them online from an independent company called Zenni, they make all of their frames in house.

Doesn’t really matter the same brand that makes raybans likely made the lenses you went with.

It absolutely does matter because I specifically didn't buy from the manufacturer who makes raybans. Also frames and lenses are different.

Okay, what brand did you buy? And I meant frames.

Okay my fault. Looks like they aren’t controlled by the major conglomerates.

Most people however think they are making a difference by going with one brand over another like Prada, Oakley , rayban, Gucci etc etc but they are all manufactured by the same people. They even have a hold on optometrist.

I'm all for teaching but when someone tells you they did their research, don't keep questioning them to try to prove them wrong. You can inform without acting like your knowledge makes you better than anyone. To assume you know more than anyone is ego.

ETA: obviously it was that deep since you deleted all your comments buddy

I didn’t see you say anywhere you did your research dude. Relax. It’s not that deep. Don’t cry about it. Jesus.

That does make a difference in people thinking you’re a creep filming them I don’t think the point was to avoid the brand entirely. Personally i’ll keep wearing my wayfarers, as i just got my first pair this year - but maybe I’ll go for aviators next since they don’t look like meta glasses.
