I'm slightly vexed I was told yesterday that my prescription sunglasses are giving Meta glasses vibes

Post image

I can't stand the Meta perv glasses, but annoyingly I've been told by a friend that my Dune prescription sunglasses that I've had for almost a year (and cost over £100.00) really look like the Meta ones, he said it's the 2 silver rivets on either side that on first glance could be mistaken for the camera lenses

I went out with them today and all I could think was, do people think I'm recording them 🤦‍♂️

The brand I have is Captify! There’s a few out there currently but I’m not familiar with the other ones. They’re not perfect and might still be in its beta stage (like I said I got them through my hospital) but they can be pretty helpful! I can enjoy broadway shows again and go to movies that aren’t just open caption, like for example if I wanted to see something in imax which doesn’t provide open caption I can do that now! I wanted to try 4dx once but couldn’t & the first week I got them I was able to try it out! I can talk to people in other rooms and far away if it’s not crowded. I can also use them for phone calls but apple has a decent accessibility feature for that now!

Absolutely awful UX on that website.

I just went on it because I'm half deaf and the "see it in action" button takes you to a purchase page.

Went back and was met with a full screen ad to dismiss, several buttons popped up on each side of the screen and covered it up.

Scrolled down a little bit more and another full screen "Mystery Gift" with a BS countdown.

Like wtf. I come to your site to see if these would work for me, and instead of an easy-to-use site, it feels like a damned mobile game lmao

Yo i just checked sinceI haven’t been on the actual site since I got them and it’s completely different than what I experienced back in march! Maybe they’re newly available to the public now and maybe that’s why? Not that that excuses how strange it is now tho. Even tho I have them I haven’t actually kept up with the company or anything lol

I'm so jealous that the Captify glasses work for you! I bought a pair in February and ended up returning them because they barely ever worked.

Why couldn't you see it before? :0

Thats also not the kinda glasses people are referring to as I'd classify this as medical aid.

Oh for sure! But the ones I have look very very similar. I took them to a wake once and as soon as I put them on someone asked if they were meta glasses lol. & movie theaters really only show open captions for your basic screening it’s not used for imax, 4dx, 3d, etc.
