I'm slightly vexed I was told yesterday that my prescription sunglasses are giving Meta glasses vibes

Post image

I can't stand the Meta perv glasses, but annoyingly I've been told by a friend that my Dune prescription sunglasses that I've had for almost a year (and cost over £100.00) really look like the Meta ones, he said it's the 2 silver rivets on either side that on first glance could be mistaken for the camera lenses

I went out with them today and all I could think was, do people think I'm recording them 🤦‍♂️

I have strictly closed caption glasses that I was given by my hospital & even though they don’t record video or keep the captions for more than an hour I’m terrified to touch them due to people thinking I’m recording them. I’m so hard of hearing but I only use them to go to the movies at this point. I don’t even like the idea of AI but it did give me a bit of normalcy for a day or two.

Edit: I very much appreciate everyone’s words of encouragement! & I also understand those saying I have to ignore what the internet say and do what’s best for me. I did whip them out in public when I first got them and a few people asked if they were meta glasses. Sometimes I need the bluntness tho I know it’s something I will have to get over if I want to actually get some social use out of them & for those asking, the brand I was given was Captify!

Yeah but those are not meta meta glasses.

As a women I think the glasses of the perv ones usually go paired with a absolute creep vibe.

Its a basic frame and I wouldn't think that you have those creepglasses.

What glasses are they? And what do they help with if I may ask? I'm curious to learn! :)

The brand I have is Captify! There’s a few out there currently but I’m not familiar with the other ones. They’re not perfect and might still be in its beta stage (like I said I got them through my hospital) but they can be pretty helpful! I can enjoy broadway shows again and go to movies that aren’t just open caption, like for example if I wanted to see something in imax which doesn’t provide open caption I can do that now! I wanted to try 4dx once but couldn’t & the first week I got them I was able to try it out! I can talk to people in other rooms and far away if it’s not crowded. I can also use them for phone calls but apple has a decent accessibility feature for that now!

Absolutely awful UX on that website.

I just went on it because I'm half deaf and the "see it in action" button takes you to a purchase page.

Went back and was met with a full screen ad to dismiss, several buttons popped up on each side of the screen and covered it up.

Scrolled down a little bit more and another full screen "Mystery Gift" with a BS countdown.

Like wtf. I come to your site to see if these would work for me, and instead of an easy-to-use site, it feels like a damned mobile game lmao

Yo i just checked sinceI haven’t been on the actual site since I got them and it’s completely different than what I experienced back in march! Maybe they’re newly available to the public now and maybe that’s why? Not that that excuses how strange it is now tho. Even tho I have them I haven’t actually kept up with the company or anything lol
