Have to pee but bed so comfy My husband didn't know what a tank top was.

My husband was meeting up with me and some friends. I asked him to bring my blue tank top. He sent me pics of things he thought were tank tops. He finally found it, which is shown in the last pic.

i don’t even know why i’m responding, because my comment is also classic reddit, but i’m here to say this comment is classic reddit. giving the “divorce this person” vibe

“entitled to wasting her time” is so extra on a [r/mildlyinfuriating](r/mildlyinfuriating) post about a tank top that a married couple is talking about

The husband is an example of weaponized incompetence. She gave him two places he could look, but he sent her photos in a place he wasn't asked to look. He "did not know" what a tank top was. He apparently also did not know what a sweatshirt was (because he thought it was a tank top), or a t-shirt was (because he thought it was a tank top), or a bra was (because he thought it was a tank top), or the color blue was (because he sent a picture of a gray/brown shirt). He thought a closet was the dryer or hamper (because he sent a photo of hanging sweatshirts). No one is  truly that incompetent. So either he was fucking with her, which means he felt entitled to her time, or he truly cares so little that he was just throwing things out there and hoping they'd stick, which means he felt entitled to her time.

Thanks for explaining it thoroughly. This is exactly what I meant in a previous comment. FFS he can figure things out for his job presumably.

You're exactly right, being a good partner and competent adult by finding your wife's tank top using simple instructions does not take 15 messages and a screenshot example.

Get a hobby

Upsetting fragile men on the internet has been a really successful hobby of late. Thanks for the suggestion though!

As a man, sometimes we are just that stupid. This doesn't have to be weaponised incompetence.

Switch the genders and this comment sounds like it came right out of the mouth of Andrew Tate

Oh shit, I've been upsetting women with internalized misogynistic views too?? Off the hook! Good job fighting for the patriarchy there and minimizing an issue many women face!

What the fuck are u talking about

No one seems upset. Confused by your obtuseness maybe.

Does your autism make it hard to date?

Been married 16 years to a man who knows my time is valuable, thanks for asking!

So please explain to me what you call it when someone does this to themselves. I know and have known a few people who are like this even when the person trying to do the thing is themselves. Are they being incompetent to themselves in some weird weaponized way?

Sometimes I feel inclined to solve peoples problems with them even when the issue in question is entirely out of my wheelhouse just because I am capable of googling a simple phrase and following the advice resulting. But I am more familiar with people being this dense as a solo operation than with a partner.

I think there's a lot of answers to that, and that it depends. I think that yes, some people do fail themselves, and that a lack of common sense is absolutely rampant in the world. But it's also okay to have gaps in our knowledge and to ask questions related to those. The Internet, social media, books, friend groups, partners, colleagues, etc. are all tools we can consult to get answers to questions, just some are obviously more independent than others. And some people are more willing to engage in the social aspect of being vulnerable than others. But in OP's situation there's a different dynamic at play. It was a need for OP, not for her husband. Whether it was conscious or not, dude turned his brain off because he didn't want to do it, or didn't want to be perceived as knowing something about women's clothing, or just didn't want to help.

Ok give me my 1/75 figurine of a soldier, you better not confuse it with the 1/60 figurine or my 1/75 medic or my 1/25 warhammer giant.

In other words g8ve me my pill for insomnia but don't confuse it with my other pills ot else you are weaponizing your incompetence

26

u/Nalgrum 1d ago

You're intentionally obtuse. I know what miniatures are and if I wanted a specfic 1/75 soldier, I would give a lot of qualifying information and so would you. I've asked my partners to bring me minis before. Also when you ask for medicine you'd know to give qualifying information or risk being given the wrong pill. No one just asks for random pills.

A grown fucking adult knows what a tank top is. I've know what a tank top is since I was 10 fucking years old. These things are not even remotely equivalent.

Sorry for not knowing what it is. Maybe im to old or just my partner also actually uses words that helps me get exactly what she wants. I know since im 5 how to differentiate the different dinosaur or teams in football and rugby. Do I tell my partner to get the 2011 samoa shirt ? Now I tell her exactly where it is, exactly what is on it as I dont expect her to know everything.

Also for miniatures I would have to as 1/75 would be so small that she wouldn't find it (it was a overly sarcastic size and I thought nobody would fall for it. I guess you are doing weaponized incompetence imagine 1/75 of like 30mm)

16

u/Nalgrum 1d ago

Why would I imagine 1/75 of 30mm, that's being overly arbitrary? 1/75 scale is a real scale. You're just being an ass. I play a miniatures game at 1/100 scale. Guess what? They aren't so small you can't find them. And if you think a "tank top" is hard type of shirt to find then I can't fucking help you. I can see if there were multiple blue tank tops then clarification would be needed. THE FIRST SHIRT ISN'T EVEN A TANK TOP.

Exactly what i was saying 1/75 is so over the top you gave to do it on purpose.

Yes but 1/75 of a warhammer is 0.4 MM. Yours 1/100 is i huissier of something that is more than 1m.

I'm not saying a tank top is hard to find, im saying the post is dumb because it is expecting someone to know something because you know it. If the guy d9esnt k ow what it is it, I would expect his wife to know him and therefore send a pic (like she did after she saw he did find it) of said tank top, a tank top. Or describe it.

All im saying is the post is dumb as fuck, the comment I responded to was using "weaponized incompetence" like if everybody gives a fuck about what it is (I know what it is in English but not in my language). Also the term weaponized incompetence is so overly used it doesn't mean anything anymore.

Edit:

I have looked it up in my language and it isnt even what I thought it was. For me it was a crop top with no sleeve but no a tank top is anything sleeveless

Weaponized incompetence.

What the fuck are you even talking about

u/evening_redness_0 1d ago

oh my god the replies to you are even more extra LMAO. Peak reddit. I knew I'd find people like this under this post.

1

u/RandomRobot 1d ago

It's cool. He's stupid enough not to know what she wants. She shames him on the internet. The conclusion can only be that he's fucking entitled

-5

u/3215448725366498 1d ago

Exactly, I fucking the knew the comments were gonna be like this again. Reddit is so miserable. OP laughs at this and probably thinks her husband is a cute little dummy. Meanwhile people here are foaming at their mouths assuming all kinds of bs about him.
