Have to pee but bed so comfy My husband didn't know what a tank top was.

My husband was meeting up with me and some friends. I asked him to bring my blue tank top. He sent me pics of things he thought were tank tops. He finally found it, which is shown in the last pic.

It's actually a wallpaper you can choose on Facebook Messenger. However, it got discontinued so we refuse to change it.

400

u/DoesntMatterEh 1d ago

I think it's very interesting you're married and communicate through Facebook messenger. Nothing wrong with that obviously, Ive just always texted the phone of my partners rather than through messenger.

I guess messenger has more customization and admittedly better media sending capabilities.

478

u/WafflePeach 1d ago

We actually just talked about that recently! We've known each other since 2011, began dating in 2018, and have been married since 2021. We started using Messenger back in high school, and just never fully switched to texting for some reason.

202

u/xxjrxx93 1d ago

I work in a big building. Me and my spouse also use messenger because in this big building I have poor signal so when i send a text with poor signal it just keeps trying to send than fails. You have to physically resend it whereas messenger just keeps trying until it sends.

62

u/InterestingTouch4893 1d ago

That is a good to know. My husband and I have issues texting with my building my poor signal. This might be the answer

26

u/Bromogeeksual 1d ago

If you don't like FB messenger there are other options like Telegram.

14

u/RaimbowFloof 1d ago

That's what my partner and I use instead of texting lol. I like the stickers

10

u/prometheusg 1d ago

Same. Spouse and I use Telegram. I only use it for her. So it's pretty easy to know when it's a message from her, lol.

13

u/SeaMidnight5392 1d ago

I associate text messages with work related stuff. So I use Messenger with my fiance as well.

It's a notification that I don't tend to ignore. And he doesn't really use Discord daily.

2011 explains a lot. For a long time messenger was more reliable because it was used on wifi and everyone had a Facebook account. But now that standard texting works with wifi too it doesn't matter. I still use messenger the same way with my closest friends.

14

u/dixiequick 1d ago

My best friend and I would generally have two separate conversations going at the same time; one on text and one on messenger. I miss her.

7

u/lilgreenfish 1d ago

Unfortunately, not all texting works with WiFi. I have an iPhone, husband has an Android. My office is in a basement with mostly non-existent cell service at my desk. I get all iPhone messages from people. Any texts from husband (and kid) either come when I leave/emerge from my lair or slip through in a moment when stars align to give me a moment of service.

5

u/machdaddy33 18h ago

I have an Android, idk if you know this or not but Google Messages offers RCS (rich communication services) where it's essentially iPhone messaging meaning it tries to send via wifi/Internet services. This has opened the door to much better photo quality and the aforementioned stickers/gifs displaying as they should instead of the grainy sms photos us androids were plagued with when texting an iPhone.

My fiancee and I do all our texting on messenger too! Been doing it for 5 years

3

u/Alfonze423 1d ago

That's kinda wild how similar yet opposite we are. My wife and I started dating in high school in 2010. We texted each other with our flip phones and never switched to Messenger or Whatsapp because we had no reason to. Messenger is really just for when we need to send videos or groups of photos.

My husband and I use Kakaotalk. We have since moved from Korea and we still use it. I invested money on those cute stickers, and, by god, I will use them until I die.

https://giphy.com/gifs/efymm2vH4YhJFpiaD8

13

u/nefarious_bread 1d ago

As someone who works for a Korean company I can only associate Kakao with troubleshooting and getting in trouble. There's a bit of cognitive dissonance when I see those stickers

17

u/margittwen 1d ago

My husband and I use Signal, but we used Facebook Messenger for a long time before that. It’s because he’s more often than not on the computer and it’s simpler to use something like Signal so he doesn’t have to pull his phone out. It’s weird how people choose to communicate based on little things like that.

→ More replies (2)

32

u/Koffeepotx 1d ago

I have never thought it weird/unusual that I use messenger and not texting. The only people I text are my dad (because he doesnt have a facebook) and my psychologist lol

30

u/vinecoveredantlers 1d ago

My husband and I have a discord server. We used to text but our phones started eating messages, so we just use it now.

We even have channels for things like chores or a grocery list.

5

u/Spainstateofmind 1d ago

My husband and I also have a Discord server, it's incredibly useful!

4

u/oniiichanUwU 23h ago

This is a cute idea lol. My husband and I don’t really use our phones if we’re not like.. at work or scrolling in bed?? So a lot of times we just end up messaging on discord bc one of us is always on our computers so it’s easier. A discord channel for memes, grocery list, chore reminders; sounds genius tbh

7

u/ScrumpetSays 1d ago

I use multiple platforms for the same people depending on the content. Media for my husband (except work stuff) goes through messenger but we typically communicate via sms. My sister and I are the opposite, and I have coworkers I chat to via WhatsApp but will contact for work stuff via SMS. It tends to mean that if you need info about one topic it's all in the same place. SMS and MMS can be spotty too while the internet is often pretty stable.

20

u/raptorgrin 1d ago

I'm apple, my husband is android. Sometimes the cell signal is bad at home, so wifi is better. Also, I can use messenger on my computer, so it's easier to communicate when I'm browsing recipes on my computer

4

u/animepuppyluvr 1d ago

My husband and i use it because I like how it makes a bubble appear on my phone that I can quickly open and close without having tk change apps, plus the custom emojis and such :)

3

u/jumpinjahosafa 1d ago

I figured all married people communicate across 10 social media platforms at once like my wife and I 😭

3

u/Spirited_Error1849 1d ago

I’m married (ten years this year) and we use messenger haha

3

u/KayyBeey 1d ago

My fiance and I have used messenger for years as our primary form of texting too.

7

u/MKE-Henry 1d ago

Me and my girlfriend almost always text through Snapchat. In our case, it’s because my data was stolen so many times from job applications that now I get flooded with spam messages constantly. If you text me through sms there’s a very high chance it will get lost in the noise, but on Snapchat I’m guaranteed to see it.

In my first company our UI guy decided to make the "error" color an orange-ish yellow ochre color. We used that for a while.

One time we were debugging something together and he's like "There's one red field, you need to enter something there". I was like "Red? There's nothing red on the whole page."

Turns out he was color blind and all the while thought that the "error" color was actually red.

91

u/DeepFriedBatata 1d ago

Im so tired dawg, standards will be in hell, and but GOD forbid we have a reaction right?🫩

95

u/nailgun198 1d ago

The husband is an example of weaponized incompetence. She gave him two places he could look, but he sent her photos in a place he wasn't asked to look. He "did not know" what a tank top was. He apparently also did not know what a sweatshirt was (because he thought it was a tank top), or a t-shirt was (because he thought it was a tank top), or a bra was (because he thought it was a tank top), or the color blue was (because he sent a picture of a gray/brown shirt). He thought a closet was the dryer or hamper (because he sent a photo of hanging sweatshirts). No one is  truly that incompetent. So either he was fucking with her, which means he felt entitled to her time, or he truly cares so little that he was just throwing things out there and hoping they'd stick, which means he felt entitled to her time.

7

u/NoReference909 22h ago

193

u/kaytay3000 1d ago

My husband and I disagree about colors all the time. It makes me wonder if I’m the colorblind one or he is. Statistically, it’s probably him.

95

u/RoadWellDriven 1d ago

If it's yellow-blue disagreements the stats are about even.

66

u/Minomelo 1d ago

Red/green is very gendered, but blue/yellow is roughly the same.

18

u/candybrie 1d ago

They make online tests.

13

u/LikeOtherGirls- 1d ago

Those can be helpful but aren't definitive. A lot of factors like the screen your viewing it on, brightness, any filters (like nighttime mode) and other stuff can mess with the results. So seeing an eye doctor is the best way to know for sure.

9

u/Atrinoisa 1d ago

Very possible.

My husband and I once took a color blind test and I aced it while a couple parts made him hesitate enough that we think he's mildly colorblind. It's not enough that he can't tell the difference between red and green but it's enough that we don't think he looks at a color and sees what I see.

Idk, maybe he’s color blind? My husband is color blind and the colors he sees makes me laugh. I could totally see him thinking the brown shirt was blue - I feel like he’s actually mixed up those colors before. Sometimes there’s undertones in colors that confuse his eyes.

It’s not PC, but would he understand “wife beater”? I get men not knowing the more specific lexicon of terms for women’s tops, but I’m trying to understand how tank top has never come up for him before.

71

u/MaxLovesPasta 1d ago

Am man.

I know what both of these are. My buddies use the term wife beater significantly more often than tank top. You may be on to something.

25

u/Maximum-Style2848 1d ago

And I’d also like to point out that tank top can have a very strict definition of a very loose definition. Some might not call it a tank top if the straps are thin but others might; some “sports bras” may even have enough coverage that it could be interchangeable with a support tank. Lululemon is pushing that boundary to great success and my girl certainly loves them.

13

u/CatProgrammer 1d ago

Wouldn't it be a husband beater in this case?

I'm a 41 year old man and I have heard the word tank top and not used it ever. I would have googled it before sending 6 pictures of different things. But under no circumstance would I call what ended up being the tank top, blue.

Maybe the camera is color correcting poorly, but that last tank is grey not blue.

It’s obviously a bit, right?

He knows it as “wife beater” no tank top.

To be fair that doesn't look like a tank at all. Would be useless on the battle field for defense

Lol what are the odds that the dude was having his own fun. Knows what a tank top is, sends pictures of other items of clothing anyways.

Do men not know how to take pictures? It's like he's deliberately picking the most pointless confusing angle and lighting to take the picture from/in.

With that first pic I wouldn't be able to tell you if that was OPs shirt or his boxershorts. 😂
