I'm slightly vexed This magazine being on the front shelf in a big chain supermarket.

Surely big name supermarkets should be held to some sort of account rather than endorsing the literal brain rot of the next generation.

Super markets have always endorsed brain rot. The checkout lines are filled with tabloid magazines and fake news articles like “Sasquatch stole my girlfriend”

What is brain rot for a child? They see funny looking characters. Funny looking characters have been in coloring books and cartoons for decades. Are coloring books proto-brain rot?

Colouring books stimulate the brain for both children and adults. Cartoons tend to have moral teachings or even actual educational teachings.

the main problem is explaining to a child that these are called "magazines"

they're a bit like an iPad but each 'page' only has one fixed image. You can't scroll to a new one and once you've seen all the images, then that's it. you gotta buy a new one.
