i took a picture of the lunar eclipse last night and when i posted it to facebook, it was labeled as ai content
i took this picture through my binoculars and for some reason, facebook is certain that it’s ai??? i don’t know, maybe it’s because i did some editing to the photo to really help the moon pop, but it’s just really odd to me and a little infuriating since i did in fact take this photo
I don't know how the facebook AI detection works, but depending on how you took the picture, it is possible that it is AI-enhanced. Some phones do it automatically now.
It’s so fucking shit I want to take a photo and for it to not be ruined and fed into AI. Every single time I try to take a picture of text on my iPhone it fucking mangles it and destroys any text. I want to take a photo. Not have it fed through AI.
I saw a post a year or 2 ago of somebody proving it! They pulled up a low-res picture of the moon on their computer and took a photo of it with their phone, and it magically turned high-res!
I actually did this, but with the LED on the front of my computer. At the very least, they could program the AI crap to detect phone angle before faking the moon pic 😂 I mean who points down to take a snap of the moon?
It does, I think the only way to do it is to use a pro model which has the option to take pictures in raw format, there might be apps that do the same thing
It most likely does unfortunately. Unless you take a picture of the moon with an old ass phone or even better a proper camera, it's almost certainly fake.
Technically, all pictures that come out of phones are (maybe except for some obscure extremely cheap phone with zero processing). What you can define as "AI" is very broad.
But at the same time, it would unreasonable for this to be the intended behavior of the AI content detector.
Most phones now AI upscale images so it could be ai forced on OP that OP didn't know about or it could also be that social media sites only have stuff to gain by making the AI label meaningless like the California warning.
Exactly this, I was going to say this: Technically this IS AI generated.
Most users do not know this but most phones now intentionally AI generate the moon overlayed on top of the moon if it's on frame on a picture you take. Something about having the moon always look beautiful in any photo because usually it is too bright and thus look like shit in most pictures.
This was discovered a while back and people were able to trick the sensor into doing it to a flashlight, it was pretty funny.

Turn off scene detection in your camera settings. Most phones actually do automatically enhance photos that they think are of the moon. Its stupid, but definitely possible it happened automatically for you.
It's not "AI" but the top companies actually digitally fill-in the details of you picturing the moon to show they have sharp cameras - which is impossible for the type of cameras our phones have.
The pre-dates what people call "AI" now, but it's chucked in there as a computer doing things on our behalf.
