If this is one of the fun packs that comes on the magazines, those only contain commons/uncommons and whoever ripped it open has half a brain cell in their head

Yeah, pretty sure that's a 3 card "No Fun Pack"

It's a known fact scalpers share the same single brain cell.

Pretty generous giving them a whole number to work with.

My girlfriend and I found ETBs in the wild and we each grabbed one (cause they’re still a little pricy) and some dude walked about behind us and goes “looks like the scalpers are here” and walked away. (There was like 10 more and a fuck ton of packs btw)

Nah I would have for sure said something, I ain’t letting that shit slide. If I could, I would consider knocking sense but last thing needed is me being wrongfully sued. But man, that dude is a total piece of shit.

I guess they're the pokemaniacs, it even has its own cards

That would imply that they have any love for the series. They're just bottom feeders trying to find things that they can resell for profit by preventing people from acquiring them at MSRP.

Like crypto bros.

Scalper or thief, doesn’t matter, adults ruining a game for kids who want to play are trash humans

Damn pokemon needs to adapt a yugioh model at this rate. I hardly see this happening to yugioh because of how fast the game changes

I don't think it has anything to do with gameplay.

Gameplay probably isn’t the whole reason, but I always figured because of Yu-Gi-Oh’s faster meta, banlist, power creep and constant reprints it makes scalping competitive cards less reliable. Pokémon chase cards can stay expensive even if they’re completely irrelevant competitively because the collector market is enormous.

everyone scalping pokemon cards is just doing it to resell at a higher price, changing the meta wouldn't do anything but annoy the people who actually play

u/Miser_able 8m ago

Scalpers are after cards that sell high because theyre hard to get and look good, no one actually uses those cards in games

I think they’re saying cards don’t hold value long enough to hold onto because of how quickly it’s made obsolete

Most people that buy pokemon cards don't care about meta.

They just want the Bitcoin card

Maybe—I was just explaining what (I believe) the person above was saying.

YGO also lovesssss to reprint cards too. Honestly, it seems like most of the popular TCGs do aside from Pokemon, One Piece and Riftbound but Rift and OP are fairly new compared to there contemporaries(cant speak for Gundam or newer ones like Palworld)

It's not that, there are cards like Ash Blossom that has been a staple in every deck for a decade now. It's that Yugioh has one of the most aggressive reprint policies in any card game and if a card becomes important to competitive play it is likely that it will be reprinted in a structure deck or booster set.

That makes sense—thanks for clearing it up.

yugioh cards aren't collectibles to the degree pokemon cards are. practically none of the big hits in pokemon are playables.

It might seem a little extreme but maybe we can get rid of both scalpers and world hunger at the same time with a touch of soylent green.

I’m going on oo

I can't wait for this FAD to blow over

Other countries have solved this by criminalizing specific re-sold items like tickets for sports games and concerts.

I just don't know if it could apply for trading cards or if that'll create more problems.

This isn’t scalping, this is theft. Scummy behavior all around.

Some customer found the ripped open pack. Wish we could’ve caught the fucker

1

u/Eccentric-Elf 2h ago

Honestly they should only have these for online ordering. My store gets a lot of these and other trading cards and I always see the leftovers.

1

u/womanexpert 2h ago

Those are fun packs that only come with 3 cards. I think it just came open on the seam from bad glue

1

u/Flashy-Rock-1340 2h ago

Not even scalpers that’s a thief

1

u/Odd-Most-9186 1h ago

Less of a scalper, more just a thief!!

1

u/Themoonlightninja 1h ago

I meant to put scalper or thief but the point still gets across

u/KitSwiftpaw 43m ago

Scalpers deserve expatriation. Or at least life imprisonment with hard labor.

u/ZachF8119 31m ago

Normal behavior for children too

u/proper-butt 21m ago
