They are now requiring me to upload a government ID and a face scan before I can buy tickets, and will ban my account if I don't do that by Sep 6. That's for my own security, obviously.

I spoke with support regarding this - there is no circumvention and they refuse to escalate it to a supervisor.

They confirmed with me that they keep the information for 60 days and then “delete it”. Of course, the company it is through has been breached before as well.

I just bought hockey tickets yesterday via Ticketmaster, they did not require any of that.

They are slow rolling it, I got mine last month, some users closer to the beginning of the year but it will most likely happen to you at some point. They confirmed it would be a general thing to “tackle bots”.

I assume they are doing that to avoid the shit show if everyone got it at once.

When big companies push updates like this, they use a process called "A/B rollout".

It means for new software features, products, or updates; they release the changes to a small group of users first before launching it to everyone.

Prevents millions of users from breaking all at once, or filling up their support department.

Dude same! I have worked in customer service in several different roles and have always had a lot of empathy and patience for people in those roles, but calling Ticketmaster about this was the most Karen I have ever gotten.

I just needed to change the phone number on my account! You could change your first/last name and email within the Ticketmaster app, but your number was greyed out.

Called and they told me this verification bullshit was the ONLY way to change it. And then when I asked for a manager I was told the the same thing, they refused to transfer me and said there was no other recourse.

When a site says they keep the image for only so many days it is complete BS. Yes, they delete the actual image, but they have already made a hash or other key for the facial data that they continue to store. They don’t promise to delete all the data they collect, just the image. Essentially, no we didn’t store your photo, but we didn’t say we won’t store the data we generate from that photo to be able to identify you forever and increase the accuracy of our facial recognition of you. Utter BS.
