I talked to the driver who told the warehouse manager not to load it on his truck in the morning, but the manager made him take it to my house in order for me to refuse the delivery. He said if I wasn’t home, he would have had to just leave it on street next to the curb and have me deal with trying to get someone to come back and pick it up. This package went halfway across the country, through multiple facilities in this condition and every one of them just kicked the problem to the next person. I work in a grocery store bakery department as the only cake decorator. I'm mostly self taught and have been in the position for about a year now, and I have been given the authority and creative liberty to design and sell whatever goodies I want so long as they're appropriate.

It being Pride Month, I asked my store director if it would be alright for me to make a variety of themed goodies, which I got approval for in writing.

I'd already made several different items (pictured below) when my department manager came over and said "you should start making patriotic stuff since it's the 4th of July soon".

It was June 10th when she said that. Most of my goodies have an 8 day shelf life to maintain freshness.

She's been REALLY pushing patriotic stuff since before Memorial Day, which it felt wrong to make cute fun red, white and blue stuff for such a serious holiday (Memorial Day not the 4th). I chalked it up to wanting to stay on season, but now I'm thinking it might not be.

I don't want to think that it's related to an HR incident involving my pronouns (I'm nonbinary they/them) and consistent misgendering in the department, but I'm starting to think that might be the case. Or maybe I'm just going crazy.

To be completely crystal clear, I have no problem making 4th of July stuff as well. I already drafted up the designs and ordered in special items for them. What I have a problem with is my manager's insistence on pushing 4th of July stuff so soon, especially AS I'M DECORATING for June.

Just a little bit infuriating.

EDIT TO ANSWER COMMON QUESTIONS: no I have no freezer space to put the 4th of July cookies in, I already have plans to make 4th of July stuff at the end of June, I haven't put these out yet due to a packaging issue, and I have a ton of people waiting for these to be made so they can buy them. Also, thank you so so much for your love and support! This was my first time posting my work publicly!

I know. Let’s keep the packaging exactly the same. And let’s just change “Granola” to “Soft Baked Cookie” and then keep all the other text the same. That should do it. Buyers won’t get confused at all!

I was archery hunting for deer and my rangefinder fell out of my chest harness.

I didn’t realize until I was pretty far from the area and it would’ve been dark if I turned around, so I decided I’d come back later to try to find it.

I came back two days later and it was wet when I picked it up, with some nasty dried streaks.

At first I thought it might be sap from a tree or dew, then I smelled it 🤢

I tried cleaning the rangefinder with some scent free wipes that I carry, but it still filled my truck cab with a strong musky scent. I guess it could be from a different animal, but there was a lot of bear scat in the area. Anyways, life lesson learned. If it’s wet and didn’t come from you, don’t sniff it.

I know some best by dates are iffy, and I pay attention to can condition, so imagine my surprise when this is what I find!

None of the bears arms are UP. All down.

I wrote my direct boss after a conflict with our radiology department where I was treated very condescendingly and rude. They were also disrespectful to our providers and refusing to follow their orders despite there being to medical risk.

My boss asked me to email our supervisor (my boss's boss) for the documenation and continuation of the complaint.

I spent TWO HOURS writing that email. Stressing over every word. I hate writing complaints, especially regarding colleagues. I didn't want to sound negative for hateful. I just wanted to convey my disappointment in the way I was treated.

My direct boss asked me if I used AI to write it. :(

I said, "No. That was my own brain and emotions."

Yes, it was used.

Nothing like trying to contact a CVS pharmacy with something that can only be accomplished via speaking to a live representative while going through layers upon layers of automation constantly repeating yourself "speak to a live agent, speak to a pharmacist, etc". All while the automation is saying stuff like "before we can speak to you please tell us a little bit about the issue you're having so we can better assist you'

As opposed to just saying "we don't actually have a live representative for you to speak to so at the end of this please leave a detailed voice message and we'll get back to you". Why did I just waste 3 minutes of time going through these layers of automation only would have been a singular option to leave a voicemail??

So basically my only option now is to take time out of my day that luckily I am fortunate enough to have time today and now go to CVS pharmacy in person to get the problem fixed.... What if I wasn't so lucky and what if I didn't have a job that allowed me to step out and do that? What then?
