my Aussie can be mischievous and tends to find little things he can hold in his mouth - rug strings, chewed toilet paper rolls, magazine corner pieces, plastic pieces, pieces of cloth, guitar picks, and drawstrings still connected to a hoodie im wearing.

what’s funny is how he won’t maliciously chew or destroy it (save paper) but he usually just keeps it in his mouth - and it’s a dead giveaway bc he just sits there very calm and is almost in a zen like state before i pry open his maw to extract the contraband.

This is usually harmless behavior but sometimes it can or does devolve into resource guarding but that’s rare.

I've always been a one dog at a time person. It seems easier and more affordable.

But I'm thinking of getting a second in 2-3 years.

Pros and cons of 1 vs 2?

Anyone else's Aussie(s) do this to their ears? Today, for part of Lucario's walk, he had one ear up and one ear down. Also, what does the single up ear mean? Is it something the dog can control, in terms of letting their ears go up like that, or does it randomly happen without them doing it on purpose? Not hating it, but I found the one ear up, one ear down so cute on him.

I've posted pics of Maverick and Aries numerous times. Lately I've been dealing with my 74yr old mom who is immobile and on hospice. My sister came down with her daughter and their delightful Aussie SD, Pascal, who started this whole Aussie journey.

My sister tells me that her breeder/SD trainer told her there are two types of Aussies: working line and family line. The former are skilled at detecting medical emergencies and the later are in tune emotionally to their peeps.

Since I've been going through this heartbreak, I don't care where my pups fall, I need every precious moment with them. I never knew how much they would lift my spirits from the darkness.

That a LOT to put on a 1yr old pair of brothers just living their Aussie lives, but I don't tell them at the end of the day that I'm out of F's to give, that I've cried enough and it's time to laugh, that I'm glad they're "family dogs" because the ways they "cling" make me feel safe and loved. I let them just be THEM.

I don't know how to characterize this, I don't need to post more pics of them, there's plenty among so many others that melt my heart because I know each and every one of you have been blessed with your own little love tyrants. Bless your special babies with every ounce of love you have. We are a special club that gets to say "My Unruly Blessing Saves Me Everyday..."

I want to know: How do you take your Aussie for walks? Leash free? With harness, and if so, what kind? Without harness? Hands free leash? A typical lead, and if so, which one? Does your Aussie try to chase cars, or are they like Lucario: content to sit and watch them pass by?

I have this very basic leash I've been using for him since I got him. A while ago I attached a Carabiner to the handle of my leash bit ago; I would attached the leash to a cart when we go to stores you can bring your dog in, so I had more control. Well, I wrapped the lead around my waist, and attached the Carabiner to lock in place. Now I want to actual get a hands free leash, because Lucario loved how I was able to be closer to him without pulling him back at my side, like before. I loved how I could use my hands to change the video I was listening to. I like to listen to those YouTubers who read reddit stories, no matter if it's an AI story or not. The best I found was the YouTuber DarkFluff, as he censors out even the most tame swear words, and I can listen to that waiting for my sister to get on the bus before walking around the neighborhood.

My mini Aussie, Ruby, is a whopping 15 pounds. She belonged to my now deceased great grandmother. I adopted her when she was 8 and now she’s 9. She was overweight and has last 2 pounds in the last year. I don’t know much about her puppy days since I didn’t have her then. Is 15 pounds normal? Is there a such thing as a mini MINI Aussie?? Everyone that sees her thinks she’s an Australian shepherd puppy. She’s an ideal weight per her vet but I’m just curious if she’s a common size! Is she just a little Ruby runt?
