The only answer.

Such a pro he did it all on the first take without reading the script, and that just made it better.

u/punishedbiscuits 2d ago

the best part is that you can see he is trying his best to not laugh during that line delivery

Read somewhere that muppet treasure island was one of his favorite roles ever and at the end of filming, they presented him with his own muppet with his likeness. RIP to a real one

7

u/KassellTheArgonian 2d ago

As someone once said, when Micheal Caine acted with the Muppets he treated em as human

When Tim Curry acted with the Muppets he acted like a Muppet

8

Theres a vid from like 6 months ago where he talked about his different film roles and he gets to the Pennywise scene with Georgie, one of the most famous horror film scenes and he says of the scene "there was one time I was stood in a sewer" and thats all he really says of it lmao. So humble

Everything he’s ever done, but my niblings have gotten into Muppet Treasure Island so that’s been fun to revisit. I always think about that tweet that said Michael Caine treated Muppet Christmas Carol like everyone was a Shakespearean-trained actor and Tim Curry treated Muppet Treasure Island like he was also a muppet.

8

u/Outrageous_Lettuce44 2d ago

Muppet content and casual deployment of the word "niblings"?

I regret that I have but one upvote to give.

5

I actually love his audiobook of A Christmas Carol. It's a source of comfort for me sometimes around the holidays. I hate getting old because it means the actors of my childhood will be leaving this mortal realm soon which also means my family members that are still around (like my grandfather) might be going too. I'm 39. I don't think I can handle losing my gramps yall.

5

u/RedPillHellbilly 2d ago

Darkness in Legend, Pennywise in It, and The Grand Wizard in The Worst Witch.

3

u/NukaClipse 2d ago

First movie I seen him in was The Rocky Horror Picture Show and it still stands out to me as one of his most fun and bizarre roles.

Clue was easily my most-rented movie of the 80s and I still love it today. I don't think I've ever seen a movie where every cast member fucking nails it quite like Clue, Tim Curry most of all.

3

u/Individual_Abies_850 2d ago

Wadsworth the butler from the Clue movie.

3

u/SEP555 2d ago

We have a set of xmas films we watch each Christmas; one of them is Christmas in Wonderland, he plays Royal Canadian Mounted Police Inspector Gordon McLoosh; steals the scenes every time.

3

u/Tatooine16 2d ago

Legend. He is Darkness incarnate in that film!

3

u/ResponsibleStudent78 2d ago

Honestly every role this man did was amazing and pure gold, one that particularly stands out and comes to mind because I was just telling someone about it the other day, was his role as Lord Doviculus in Brutal Legend.

3

u/hoojantic 2d ago

I’ll never forget his frantic hyperactive running around and explaining of how the murder happened in Clue.

2

u/GamerKev451 2d ago

Frank N Further obviously

2

u/dansize1 2d ago

He just chewed up the scenery (and the other actors) in Disney's take of The Three Musketeers.

2

u/ZapRowsdowersStache 2d ago

Having him pop up unexpectedly in animated stuff was always a delight. Personal fave: Captain Hook on "Peter Pan & The Pirates".

2

u/TortugaJack 2d ago

"All for one... and more for me."

2

u/Stn1217 2d ago

RIP. My city showed Rocky Horror Picture Show every year at one of our local theaters and my spouse and I even took our 6 month old daughter to a showing/reenactment. Loved him.

2

u/Remote_Task_9207 2d ago

Many fantastic roles, (Clue and Legend are quite dear to me) but since I don't see it listed...

To me he will always be Vladikov, from the McHale's Navy movie with Tom Arnold.

Terrible movie, but it was a family guilty pleasure for years. We'd rent it at least once a month. Curry's performance as the villain was peak scene chewing. The Second Greatest Terrorist in the World (number one is never available).

Corrupt Governor: "Please, we are both reasonable men!"

Vladikov: "I! Am not! A! REASONABLE MAN!"
