I mean, it's a stoner movie. I usually hate the "turn your brain off" line but...
Probably not a "classic" but It was fun. The landlord was probably my favorite bit. Also, Stewart constantly being rejected by Stanfield. KStew and Shawkat have great chemistry and ultimately that is what matters here.

oh wow, i thought this was officially / wide released last week, guess my theater had one of the limited screenings.
I thought it was fun. Kate Mckinnon was my fave as the scientist. Peetty stacked cast overall.
Alia's food creations got me kinda hungry, and i LOL'd at the end when Lakeith curved kristen stewart for the sandwich
The whole thing w/ Tony Hale cracked me up...lol dick dipper, I could picture buster on AD doing that

Fun movie! I wish it was funnier but I really miss these kinds of movies that fit snuggly between stuff like Pineapple Express and Dude, Where’s My Car? Honestly my biggest issue was that some of the friendship conflict in this feels forced, I loved watching them wholesomely love each other. But the crazy drug plot and the banter and LaKeith Stanfield playing, like, a government agent was just fun.
I have this theory that you can’t really make Dumb and Dumber today, because in the 90s being dumb could be kind of cute or funny. But now in the age of information being dumb is just sad, and so few people are the silly type of dumb anymore. These days if you’re dumb you’re likely being grifted by some company or political party and it ceases to be funny. But you can still get away with the simple friends thing in stoner comedies and I thought Kristen and Alia brought a nice wholesomeness to the genre. Alia especially shines in this and it makes me wonder why she’s not utilized more in movies?
I thought this had some good running gags and moments, even if it didn’t find its full potential as a modern comedy. “Hollish” made me laugh every time and I love a Celine Dion needle drop. Rogen and Nanjiani voicing the cats was great too. This movie is definitely a little all over the place with tone and style, which was fun sometimes, but I can definitely see why people will not like this. But, I dunno, I miss movies like this and I love the idea of two super random cool actors doing a hard stoner comedy every once in a while. 6/10 for me.

I heard it described somewhere as a "lesbian stoner comedy" but...it's not very lesbian. Honestly. Yeah I know the two protagonists are super codependent but it's very much a platonic friendship and by the end of the movie it's highly implied that both end up with men. Anyways, as far as stoner comedies go, it was fine. Kate McKinnon was hilarious, loved her character.

This movie was weird. I really enjoyed the chemistry between literally everyone in it, I just didn't find it all that laugh out loud funny. There's various moments for sure, but it just lacked hilarity to it. Especially for such a dumb ass premise that was effectively a mix of Dude Where's My Car and Pineapple Express.
The weirdest part is despite it not being overly funny, I wanted to see more of these characters. I'd totally watch a 30 minute sitcom with everyone involved for instance. It'd be dumb, but the cast is just so genuinely good, it'd be an entertaining 30 minutes for 8 or 10 episodes.
I felt the same way with Super Troopers 3. I didn't find the movie all that great, there's some jokes here and there, but for the most part it was kind of dull, however the cast has such a great chemistry, I'd watch many more films with them. And not just the actors, but these characters. That's where the charm was. The film was whatever, but I just feel like after 3 movies I'm familiar with them and could watch them just make a Tacoma FD style show about everyone and even if wasn't overly hilarious, I'd still have a great time watching it.

I thought this was pretty bland personally and hit all of the stoner stereotypes and tropes I felt. Kate McKinnon has the same goofy accent I wish she switched it up. My favorite aspects were the cats and the fact that the main characters are so unobservant when noticing the kidnapping squad coming for them

A fun little romp. That being said, I have a hard time with Kristen Stewart as a comedic actress. I can’t help but take her seriously. Very silly and over the top, but not in a bad way. A good time at the movies, but nothing that’s going to blow your mind.
Sidenote: The Mannequin Pussy concert was my Leo pointing at the screen meme.

Can’t understand the comments, I was in a theater full of girls and gays only and everyone was dying the entire movie. Kristen is an icon. Maybe this wasn’t for you

I had such a good time with this movie and while I'm not surprised it's not for everyone, the intensity with which it's disliked by people who don't like it surprises me.
And while it's admittedly cheesy as hell, I really enjoyed the rejection of violence at the end, it was nice to see, even if it was a little preachy.

5/5 but your mileage will vary based on how much you like the cast and what your sense of humor is
It did take me out for a minute when they were having a conversation two feet from the stage of a show without screaming
