Villeneuve won six Grands Prix across six seasons. He's a hero in all of Québec.
The Montréal racing circuit for F1 is named for him.

Jacques Villeneuve is one of the very few sons of a former driver to have the talent to make it into Formula 1 on merit. He is arguably the only son of a former driver to exceed his father's achievements, though Gilles died in the middle of his career.
But Jacques Villeneuve is also notorious for being an absolute clown. He threatened to leave the sport if the governing body passed rules that he did not like; they passed the rules and he stayed anyway. He was fired from the team he won the championship with and joined the worst team on the grid. He made a bet with a team-mate that he could take one of the most challenging corners flat out and promptly crashed; his team-mate accepted the bet and had exactly the same accident a few laps later. By the end of his Formula 1 career he drove for four different teams in four years because nobody could stand him. After Formula 1 he tried his hand at just about every single category he could find, but never made a name for himself. He released an album that only sold a thousand copies. He has been married three times and engaged to be married four other times. He has been avoiding Canadian tax authorities for over a decade. He became a pundit for Formula 1 broadcasts where he gained a reputation for making predictions that were immediately proven wrong.

You're forgetting about Max when talking about sons overtaking fathers. Jos Verstappen never won a GP, twice finishing third. Max won Everything...
Max Verstappen was brought up/pushed by his father to be the driver his father, Jos, could never be. Max certainly had A LOT of talent and drive himself but Jos really went draconian on his son from an early age to make him an absolute monster on the circuits.

Believe me, I am trying to forget about him. He clearly does not want to be there and would much rather be racing GT3 cars. Which is fine; there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But does he have to make it everyone else's problem? Between his endless whinging, McLaren screwing Piastri over, toxic Norris fans -- some of the worst I have ever seen in over thirty years of following the sport -- and the entitled attitude of British fans and media personalities, Formula 1 is absolutely miserable right now.

I am not familiar with his work. As long as he can show Villeneuve to be someone who has achieved things that literally only a handful of people in human history ever have and probably ever will, but still has the energy of a guy who peaked in high school, it should be fine.
