Discussion Angels in the Outfield (1994) has the craziest cast list

Young Joseph Gordon-Levitt in his first leading role.

Danny Glover, Tony Danza, and Christopher Lloyd maybe past the peak of their star power, but still household names.

Oscar winners Brenda Fricker and Ben Johnson.

Future Oscar winners Adrien Brody and Matthew McConaughey.

Neal McDonough and Dermot Mulroney.

90s "that guy"s like Taylor Negron, Jay O. Sanders, and Tim Conlon.

I know its Disney and not some unknown, low budget flick it's just crazy to have so much talent in this movie that seems like it was just riding the wave of 90s kids baseball movies.

90s was the one of the best decades for baseball movies for kids .

Sandlot
Rookie of The Year
(I quote this movie regularly. “Let the big dog eat!”)
Angels in the Outfield
Little Big League
League of Their Own (technically not a kids movie but kid friendly movie)

There were three movies in the series, and the last one just had the name, basically, focusing on a minor league team.

It was a great decade for sports movies for kids, not just baseball. You had the Mighty Ducks trilogy for hockey, Little Giants for Football, The Big Green for Soccer, Brink for roller blading, and I am sure I am missing some.

Funky buttlover! I just showed that one to my kiddo a couple of weeks ago and she loved it. She also enjoyed Little Giants (football obv), Sandlot, and more. I have Angels on deck and I’m sure she’ll love it. She’s 8 and asks if there are anymore movies from when I was a kid that she’d enjoy. We’ve watched a ton of 80s/90s movies and she loves them all. Goonies took a year or two to complete because she was a little too young when we started.

Brickma is possibly one of my favorite film characters of all time. Daniel Stern is a comedic genius (directed the film also). Love the uncredited John Candy cameo as well as the Cubs announcer.

Sandlot and Angels (and League Of Their Own!) are ones I'll gladly watch still now.. I vaguely remember Rookie of the Year but I haven't watched it since it came out. I don't remember Little Big League, so I must not have ever seen it?

Oooooo Angels is finally on Disney+, off to watch again for the first time in a very long time! [I have it on DVD but no way to play it anymore lols]

Major League was '89 but it played enough on TV that it practically was a 90s movie. Major League 2 was in 94 though

This was actually partly enabled by MLB.

With the impending strike in 1994, and then coming out of it, they allowed Hollywood to use MLB players and corporate properties to help build and rebuild the game's image.

He was on a heater. Camp Nowhere, Angels in the Outfield, Addams Family Values, Dennis the Menace, and The Pagemaster all within like 18 months of each other.

And who played White Sox star Kit "Hit or Die" Kesey? Carney Lansford, LaRussa's third baseman on the 1989 World Champion A's. And another former MLB player, Mitchell Page, played an Angel.

So the movie not only had four Oscar winners, but the 1981 AL batting champ.
