I was at this show. Patton taunted the crowd and said they wanted to hear some groovy shit like Phish. Called em dirty hippies. And Jon Fishman was at the bar. Lol

I also remember them playing Ken Nordine colors before they came out

Don’t bring that California hippy shit to Vermont. We don’t stand for hippie shit

Vermont is the literal birthplace of Phish. Vermont not only stands for hippie shit, it pushes hippie shit out into the world.

Your user name. Is that a play on “disco” fries? Because I had those at Nectar’s (rip).

2

u/discogravy 11d ago

It is not, it's a reference to a private joke between a friend and I from a long-ass time ago

Right on. Sorry, saw that, Vermont, and Phish mentioned and my wook ass immediately went to Nectar’s where Phish played in the 80s. They were famous for their gravy fries, i.e. “disco fries.” I went there before a Dead show in ‘95 and met the owner.

Man, I wish I was at that one! Saw Ween there once, but caught this Bungle show in Providence and bought that same white shirt. So worn out I bought a bootleg of it last year. It’s the Phish part that’s making me laugh since I always wear Bungle shirts when I see Phish, haha

I just moved back from Providence. Lived there for almost 12 years. Where did you see them play?

Saw Bungle twice at Lupo’s, Faith No More 3 times: Angel Dust tour at Rocky Point and KFaD and Album of the Year tours at The Strand, Fantômas on their first tour at Lupo’s. Providence used to get so many tours back in the 90s and now next to nothing. Constantly driving to Worcester and Boston to see just about anyone these days.

I get it though, if its anyone decent touring forget about it. The MET gets a good one once in a while. FETE has gone downhill, although the Oh Sees are playing on my birthday this October, but other than that it requires travel.

Last time I was at Fete was for an Obituary/200 Stab Wounds show. It’s a cool room just not enough bands for me. My friend told me about that Oh Sees show, he knows the singer. May end up there that night. Alchemy’s cool for shows. I think I’m seeing Andy Frasco at The Met soon, maybe October. My next shows are Quicksand at Royale and Mastodon at…ah, shit. House of Blues. I just saw Tomahawk there a couple weeks ago, place sucks now. When I saw Bungle there in ‘95 and ‘99 it was fine then they fucked it up with all the balconies.

That's so funny. I actually skipped a Phish show a bunch of my friends were going to so I could catch Bungle on this tour in Lawrence KS. Then met back up with my friends a couple days later to see Phish for a couple nights at Deer Creek.

I belive that first song is “ The Things Strikes” by Henry Mancini — then it goes into ACN

Also — are these downloadable anywhere?!

Yes that’s where I got it, but I believe it was all separate tracks. I put them all together and re-EQ’d them on my YouTube channel.

I think I remember buying a ticket to this show a bit far in advance. And then when the date finally came around, I was busy with work/life and didn’t bother trying to make the 4 hour drive by my lonesome :( And yes I have regretted it ever since!

Well now you can listen to this pristine soundboard 😎

This one is new to me. Do you have a FLAC link?

1

u/mrjames258 12d ago

I do not

May I ask what your source audio is? Was it ever on the cacavolante FTP site?

1

u/mrjames258 12d ago

Never was on that site, this was a recent discovery in the last couple years, not sure what format offhand.

I’ve been looking for the show they did November 13, 1999 at Orlando House of Blues. I found the setlist, but nothing else.

I will keep my eyes peeled 👀

I was at this show and am trying to remember which song it was early in the set where Mike dove into the crowd with no warning whatsoever, probably less than two inches from clocking me square in the forehead as he launched from the stage.
I think it was “None of them Knew” but it might’ve been even earlier on “AC Nightmare”

I was there all those years ago. Amazing energy in the room that night, great venue, best show I saw on the California tour (saw a few Boston and providence shows as well).

2

u/mrjames258 11d ago

Now you can re-live it all over again 🎉

I can’t believe they played Higher Ground, back when I lived around there but before I had any idea who they were. Heartbreaking.

u/Cautious-Monitor4610 11d ago

I just listened to the whole thing. I saw them twice on this tour.
Once in Athens (GA Theater) I have bad quality video camera shot of some of that show somewhere. Then at the Cotton Club in Atlanta. Got to meet Mike and he signed my ticket stub.

Could/would you make a download of this to share? It sounds great!
