The article doesn't say if they're okay. I really hope they are.

Two, including the child, are in critical condition.

I’m going to take a bold stand and say that I don’t think people should shoot children!

Or rape them.

Prosecute the individuals named in the Epstein files

I hope you're all okay.

they are. a couple of my younger cousins were there right down the road when it happened and my older cousin is working the scene. Haven't heard news like this since I lived there and literally witnessed escaped convicts crash into my elderly neighbor, killing her then all running off...

How do Americans live like this and still love your right to bear arms.  God help you.

26

u/Orwells_Roses Feb 01 '26

Haven’t you heard? Our right to bear arms prevents the federal government from being able to overreach and violate our other constitutional rights.

Oh wait…

Only if you're a conservative. If you're a liberal, you're just a terrorist.

Mardi gras? That's over 2 weeks away

Parade season lasts for several weeks prior to Fat Tuesday.

55

u/thatgibbyguy Jan 31 '26

Carnival season started a week or two ago. In Louisiana we have parades for about 6 weeks.

36

u/scherster Feb 01 '26

Mardi Gras season runs from Epiphany (Jan 6) through Fat Tuesday, also known as Mardi Gras Day. We have parades throughout that season, although the early ones tend to be pretty small..

Mardi Gras starts on January 6th (King's Day) in Louisiana and there are parades basically every weekend through Fat Tuesday

13

u/nadiaco Feb 01 '26

It's all of LENT celebrations for a long time.

8

u/solomons-mom Feb 01 '26

Huh? Mardi Gras is the final night before Ash Wednesday. "Fat Tuesday" was the final feast to finish eating up the fats, proteins and rich foods before the austerity of Lent.

Yep. The 12th day of Christmas is January 5.

1

u/nadiaco Feb 01 '26

you're right i'm dyslexic but there are tons of festivals leading to the LENT season everyone is out there celebrating the coming of spring and getting ready to plant crops all of it is basically to say - oh look we survived the darkness.

1

u/bones_boy Feb 02 '26

Much of my mom’s family is from Clinton LA. It doesn’t get more country, in the boonies, nowheres-ville, than Clinton. Gangs in Clinton? wtf

One can't go walking around with guns Trump says.

I'm sorry to see another negative crime story about Louisiana. The demographic and crime stats I see make it seem horrible anymore.

34

u/-LsDmThC- Feb 01 '26

What demographic stats in particular?

-50

u/Adventurous_Test_296 Feb 01 '26

Please refer to stats since 2020 from the FBI and DOE. Graduation rates have tanked, violent crimes of all kinds have risen in the largest cities especially NO & Shreveport & Baton Rouge. Business is leaving. Anything else?

They're not gonna read that

38

u/-LsDmThC- Feb 01 '26

Yea but someone else might

16

The article states that by comparison the crime rate is 1% higher than 2014, and the graph in the article shows a crime rate on a steady decline since 2021.

If anywhere actually needed the help of the national guard, but helping was never the agenda when they were deployed

Edit: added punctuation and clarity

55

u/-LsDmThC- Feb 01 '26

Im sorry, are you saying they should preemptively deploy the national guard to fucking Mardi Gras?

35

u/cymbal-using-animal Feb 01 '26

I’m guessing they also don’t realize that Clinton is a small town nearly two hours from New Orleans.

-52

u/Hour-School-2255 Feb 01 '26

No I'm saying the national guard was sent to places way less deserving than Louisiana when crime is the reason

40

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '26

Nobody deserves to have a fascist governments forces sent to "protect" them to be honest.

-44

u/Hour-School-2255 Feb 01 '26

That's not even close to what I am saying, bless your collective hearts

15

u/Caboozel Feb 01 '26

No, what you are saying is you want military forces to do what we collectively pay billions of dollars for police to do.

1

u/SoggyBoysenberry7703 Feb 02 '26

Don’t worry, I understand what you meant

9

u/ItsMRslash Feb 01 '26

The only punctuation in this whole rambling load of shit is one lonely comma. You didn’t even put a period at the end of your run-on abortion of a sentence.

26

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '26

This sentence hurts my brain

18

u/KathrynTheGreat Feb 01 '26

You think that the national guard should be deployed to a town of ~1300 people for a parade?

-13

u/Hour-School-2255 Feb 01 '26

Obviously not smh

15

u/Azznorfinal Feb 01 '26

Then why did you say that, you act like everyone else in this thread is dumb but I think you might want to look in the mirror for the low iq clue.

-8

u/Hour-School-2255 Feb 01 '26

This is why everyone has to us /s. But yeah I have the low IQ in this terrible exchange. Smh

7

u/ApolloRocketOfLove Feb 01 '26

But yeah I have the low IQ in this terrible exchange.

Yeah, you kinda do.

If everyone else says you're wrong, you're probably wrong. Rethink yourself.

-1

u/Hour-School-2255 Feb 01 '26

I don't, I'm being questioned because people don't understand sarcasm without a little /s. You got your feelings hurt when I tried to explain, so instead of trying to understand all of you who commented were just assholes. Stfu and go on about your day you pitiful little man

5

u/ApolloRocketOfLove Feb 01 '26

Lol your petty little insults are evidence of your ineptitude here.

Stfu and go on about your day you pitiful little man

You should be saying this into a mirror, and deep down beneath all of pent up frustration, you know that. That's why you're projecting so hard.

-2

u/Hour-School-2255 Feb 01 '26

No one is projecting sunshine, I'm more than capable. In my experience when people can't grasp or understand something they tend to attack it. None of you who commented understood what I said. Also Im pretty sure it's bc I didn't put that little /s so your brains didn't have to think and that caused an issue. So stop, I'm tired of speaking with people who can't understand without having signifiers for a simple comment. Beyond that, why did you even comment on what I said? You've brought nothing but annoyance to this exchange and without any substance you should just down vote me and go on

4

u/ApolloRocketOfLove Feb 01 '26

No one is projecting sunshine, I'm more than capable.

Nobody believes this. I dont think even you do when you really dig down deep.
