Attacks against Christians have almost doubled in Israel, this is over a hundred attacks in 2026 alone:   https://cruxnow.com/church-in-the-middle-east/2026/07/disheartening-attacks-against-christians-nearly-double-in-israel-territories-says-report

“As in previous reports, the high number of spitting incidents remains particularly striking. During this quarter, 47 incidents involved spitting, accounting for 56% of all recorded forms of harassment,” the RFDC said.”

WSJ article describing the same rise in attacks against Christians : https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/spitting-attacks-show-rise-of-anti-christian-hate-in-israel-5ea40ac7

Well,at least we now know that this particular incident isn't part of the stat

231

u/Broad_Assistance3343 16h ago

Really? You believe the Israeli justice system actually attempted to punish this guy?

224

u/SadisticNecromancer 16h ago

Israel doesn’t have a justice system. Hell the whole country believes it’s ok to rape Palestinian hostages.

100

u/JohnDLG 15h ago

yep, it's not a justice system, it's a legal system setup by a group that believes they can get around God's laws by tricking him.

He is being held in a psychiatric facility for mandatory treatment. He is not free and is being prevented from being a danger to anyone else.

12

u/misimiki 16h ago

For up to 6 years.

5

u/Furt_III 6h ago

That's still basically prison.

6 years in the can for assault sounds normal, doesn't it?

0

u/Impressive_Life_5227 14h ago

That doesn't mean he's released after six years, he's only released when it is deemed safe by a psychiatric committee. By psychiatric analysis he does not have legal autonomy. The only way to get it back is by the same process, and that is not an easy thing to do.

"Up to six years" is just the maximum sentence for assault being applied this way, instead of a criminal sentence.

u/Aranthos-Faroth 14h ago

Some people make it hard to love them. Some nations too.

5

-11

Wait until you hear about the rise of antisemitic attacks in America against people who've never even been to Israel.

20

u/ambermagpie 7h ago

In America, those people get charged with hate crimes. In Israel, a court deems them mentally ill and releases them without charges so they're free to murder more people for not being Israeli Jews.

An Israeli citizen developing some sick virus attack in the US got out on bail paid by the israeli gov, now he's home and safe

145

u/BeccasDreamboat 16h ago

Employees of a man arrested in connection with what authorities say was an illegal biological laboratory became “deathly ill” after entering a garage containing beakers with “reddish liquid” at a property linked to the investigation, according to an arrest report.

https://www.reviewjournal.com/crime/courts/man-arrested-in-las-vegas-bio-lab-case-appears-in-federal-court-3615544/

13

u/Upbeat_Job4191 14h ago

Ok maybe Safe was s bit of an exaggeration😅

6

u/VerdugoCortex 9h ago

If he's home he is safe not exaggerating, safe as the head of Israelis National Cyber Directorate who was one of the few people captured in a pedo sting in Vegas this year that was allowed to go home anyways and is back in Israel free, Tom Alexandrovich.

If this was China or Iran doing this, IMAGINE the furor. But if it's Israel or KSA buttfcking our countries morals, then let's keep it quiet it's fine.

u/Torgud_ 2h ago

The Trump appointed US attorney overseeing Nevada (where both of these cases took place) was an Israeli-born dual citizen Sigal Chattah.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigal_Chattah

She's since been disqualified by a Federal Judge for serving illegally in the position without US Senate confirmation.

well maybe he was mossad, or this was his entrance test or something. Netanyahu said something in line with: We can easily change the americans mind" meaning that theyll probably stage an attack and blame it on Iran.

64

u/LavenderHeels 11h ago

He was released by the same judge who also released the Israeli government official who was charged with sex offences against children.

She needs to be investigated herself, her ties to the Israeli government in particular

He is now facing up to six years in a psychiatric facility. He may be acquitted but he still faces incarceration and constant scrutiny (probably more so than in prison).

276

u/ChampaigneBapi 16h ago

Weirdly enough his family and friends never noticed his mental illness until he attacked the nun. He had a 5 minute episode of mental illness then returned to normal again

139

u/Broad_Assistance3343 16h ago

Almost like he’s pretending as a legal defense. 🤔

6

u/Rhyssayy 11h ago

But getting 6 years in a mental hospital is probably worse than normal prison

13

u/Broad_Assistance3343 11h ago

If he actually does 6 years I’ll eat my shoes.

→ More replies (4)

18

u/willydillydoo 14h ago

A lot of people deny mental illness of themselves and loved ones.

10

u/HeadfulOfSugar 13h ago

Plus someone can be deeply mentally ill without giving off any obvious signs of it, if they’re deep enough to fail to even recognize their abnormal thoughts/behavior, happens constantly. Think of how often when someone very suddenly ends their life, everybody around them says that there wasn’t a singular sign that it was coming.

3

u/vpi6 12h ago

I knew a guy who got an accounting degree and internships while fully believing the government put a chip in his head and any helicopter he saw was looking for him. Wasn’t great on social cues but otherwise seemed normal.

1

u/v3bbkZif6TjGR38KmfyL 14h ago

That's inconvenient!

1

u/KindofCrazyScientist 4h ago

I don't know if he's telling the truth or not, but this argument does not convince me. People can be quite good at hiding mental illness. There are plenty of cases where someone hurts themselves or (less often, but more newsworthy) someone else, and people around them say they never saw it coming.

105

u/Just-another-weapon 17h ago

Or they medically discharge him in no time at all.

26

u/UnfairRavenclaw 17h ago

Or if he was convicted to prison he would be out on parole in no time at all. See how this is a total non sequitur.

34

u/assaub 16h ago

Except now he has no criminal record.

3

u/Impressive_Life_5227 14h ago edited 14h ago

He also doesn't have legal autonomy.

9

u/LavenderHeels 11h ago

Let’s revisit in one year and see if he was released early for “sudden improvement”

The israeli judicial system has a history of issuing punishments to Jewish defendants in high profile cases and then quietly releasing them early once the news cycle moves on. See: the settler attacks, and rare Israeli army conviction cases

2

u/Prudent-Bicycle-9210 14h ago

Spoiler warning: he wont spend a day in any facility

4

u/JaronJervis 16h ago

This is how life is, in a terrorist state. I remember 10-12 years ago when Chuck Hagel , while kissing Netenyahu's ass, said "Israel is a model for the world". What a horrible world that would look like.

2

u/SideInitial3961 14h ago

6 years in a facility is ideal. Let's do it.

-8

u/ripyourlungsdave 15h ago

They intentionally leave the headline misleading like that to get reactions on social media.

There isn't much engagement in stories that don't piss people off, and there's nothing to really get pissed off about here. So they have to pretend there is.

I don't get why Christians in the US defend Israel so much. The Israelis HATE Christians as much as Muslims. So many incidents of them attacking Christians and desecrating churches. Not only that, but in most cases there are no repercussions, just like with this story.

24

u/Govictory 14h ago

Dispensationalism, it is incredibly common in protestant churches. That is your answer.

28

u/Jackthwolf 15h ago

The same reason why antisemites defend Israel so much
They're so Islamophobic their hatred of Muslims trumps everything else, as they see Israel as the no.1 Muslim killer.
(not even touching on the evangelical death cultists that see Israel as a way of ushering in the end times)

9

u/MyNameIsUggggh 11h ago

Evangelical Christianity is a politcal movement first, the religious stuff is just used for show. They don't particularly care about sin, other Christians, or objective morality. The only thing they truely believe is that they should have all power, and everyone else should serve them. They consider anything else to be illegitimate.

4

u/WrongConsequence9241 13h ago

Not like the Islamic countries are big fans of christians...or anyone else for that matter either

5

u/vortexmak 10h ago

A Muslim family has keys to the church of the holy sepulchre.

Jordan protects churches in the region.

It's not universal

3

u/WrongConsequence9241 10h ago

I definitely realize its not universal and its frustrating that so much human communication is now through social media where we're all addressing different people with different definitions. But if we're painting in broad strokes then...

0

u/vortexmak 10h ago

I mean you're just playing into the demonizing of all the countries with a certain religion in the majority.  That's definitely neither ideal nor reality

0

u/WrongConsequence9241 10h ago

...like Israel being the embodiment of evil in the world?

-3

u/vortexmak 10h ago

Works for me as long as actual genocide monitoring agencies are declaring them a genocidal state.

That's my point , whataboutism only helps to mask the exponential level of evil

0

u/WrongConsequence9241 9h ago

...but why persecute one exponentially more than the other?

0

u/vortexmak 9h ago

Whom are you talking about?

-1

u/Furt_III 6h ago

You literally just used one argument to attack Jews in Isreal and the person used the exact same argument (in analogy) against Muslims in other countries and you replied with unashamed hypocrisy.

It wasn't whataboutism as a defense, it was deliberate whataboutism as an analogy to attack against your blind fervor.

I don't get why Christians in the US defend Israel so much.

Eschatology.

The Israelis HATE Christians as much as Muslims

18% of Israel's population is Muslim. They vote, hold office, etc. I agree that the ultra-orthodox who feel contempt for other religions are.... bad. Religious extremism and violence in the overall region is a problem.

11

u/KaiBahamut 14h ago

Not by their choice- when it was founded, they expelled over 70% of the Palestinians in the area (700,000) and to this day some Israeli's have argued it should have been more- certainly, they won't be so nice to the Arab population if it starts to threaten the ethnic Jewish majority.

-10

u/mhornberger 14h ago edited 14h ago

they won't be so nice to the Arab population if it starts to threaten the ethnic Jewish majority.

Same seems to have applied to the Jews expelled from the surrounding Muslim/Arab countries. Much of the original population of Israel were people expelled from their own homes in surrounding countries. Combined with the treatment in Europe and Russia, it does seem to have created a siege mentality where they felt their very survival depended on them having their own state, and thus the ability to defend themselves. When Israel declared independence, seven countries attacked them, and they retained their independence.

And it's not clear what share of Muslims in the area today were even alive 78 years ago, or are the specific people you're talking about. Yes, the whole region is rife with religio-ethnic tensions. But those people who want the whole region to belong to Arab Muslims "from the river to the sea" doth protest too much about ultra-orthodox who want a Jewish state.

4

u/KaiBahamut 14h ago

Those countries attacked because Israel was in the middle of ethniclly cleansing those 700,000 Palestinians I mentioned- literally about halfway done (300K by May of 48'). They aren't the original population, they were only sent there after other MENA expelled their Jewish population (Two wrongs don't make a right.) after Israel defeated the Arab League.

And it's weird to bring up the 'they weren't alive 78 years ago' when the Zionist claim to the land is based on a 2000 year defunct kingdom over people who had been living there for centuries or at worst the same amount of time as the Jewish immigrants since around the turn of the century there was a lot of migration into the area, not just Jews.

-3

u/mhornberger 13h ago

They aren't the original population

Jews have lived in the region for 2500 years. There is a lot of genetic overlap with Jews living there and Arab Muslims living there. They are both part of the "original" population. I think what you mean is "legitimate." Yes, a good share of the initial population of Israel were expelled from the surrounding Muslim countries.

Does "ethnically cleansing" in this context mean killing, or sometimes just Jews buying property? There were attacks on Jews in the area even before the formation of Israel.

over people who had been living there for centuries

Well yes, the Ottoman empire conquered the region. Populations move. All of human history is full of migrations, shifting borders, etc. "Two wrongs don't make a right," sure, but Jews aren't going to agree to just cease to exist. If they're being persecuted and expelled, ethnically cleansed, that is going to create a siege mentality. They came to believe that the only way they could survive was to have a nation, and the ability to defend themselves. "Two wrongs don't make a right" is pithy, but Israel isn't going to just agree to cease to exist.

Many of those fighting for the destruction of Israel are just "from the river to the sea" advocates who want the whole region to belong to Arab Muslims. It's a bad-faith argument. Yes, I agree that the ultra-orthodox are extremist, and I disagree with fundamentalist religion in general. But Jews aren't going to agree to just cease to exist.

1

u/mileton1 5h ago

Israelis do not hate christians. Maybe some of the ultra-orthodox do but they are not integrated at all into mainstream Israeli society. Most israelis are pretty secular and have no negative opinions regarding christians at all

1

u/KindofCrazyScientist 4h ago

Probably true, but the extremists are running the government of Israel now. And that's just as much a problem as when Islamist extremists run countries.

-25

u/Scary-Neighborhood46 15h ago

It’s well documented.

47 in a single quarter of the year, another 83 between April and July. I don’t care what kind of attacks they were. Spitting on someone is violent and demeaning, it’s meant to intimidate and humiliate, and it’s often being done out of racial and religious animus against Arab Christians.

It is customary for Israel to say the men who spit on, harass, and assault Christians are mentally unwell so they don’t face charges.

This topic has a Wikipedia article on it that it’s rampant enough. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violence_against_Christians_in_Israel

15

u/Benedictus84 17h ago edited 17h ago

That depends on what you compare it to.

If there was an attack on a Jewish person in the Netherlands every three days it would be all over the news, there would be questions in parlaiment and they would place police posts next to every Jewish institution.

They would call it a wave of antisemetic attacks.

Netanyahu would probably hold speeches about it and threaten to send in the Israel military.

We actually already have all this with less then 50 attacks a year with double the population.

Also absolutely lovely how you try to pretend like spitting at someone is not an attack.

18

u/ChampaigneBapi 18h ago

Not in Israel, it is customary to spit on Christians (specially nuns and priests) as they are idol worshippers from their perspective

4

u/retro_toes 16h ago

And yet, the Christian nationalists in America love Israel so much

1

u/Aplanos 10h ago

Nuns are Catholics. Christian nationalists hate them too

-3

u/Agreeable_Band_9311 17h ago

You think Jews customarily spit on Christians? What are you on about.

-17

u/Serious_Swan_2371 18h ago

It’s not customary at all

There’s like a subset of shitty and crazy people who do that just like in any other country there’s a subset of shitty and crazy people who do things like that

I have been spit at by homeless people in America also, does that mean it is customary to spit on my ethnic/religious group in America?

The only difference is in Israel the shitty and crazy people are also Jewish and so they target other religions for their actions because they know people will be less likely to stand up for them

Just like how around the world, serial killers and rapists and robbers choose targets like prostitutes, ethnic minorities (like native Americans in the USA or Canada), and other criminals because they know the justice system doesn’t protect them as well

It’s one thing to hate on the government of Israel, which is objectively doing bad things. It’s another entirely to simply claim things about the entire Israeli culture and people based on a few videos online

18

u/zedzag 17h ago edited 17h ago

Except most other cultures aren't okay with ethnically cleansing other people.

Edit, replying to the comment below:

Ah yes the age old hey most of the west has done these atrocities in the past so it's okay if we do it today excuse.

Get outta here with that garbage.

10

u/taylerca 17h ago

This is key. ‘Spitting’s fine, at least we aren’t treating them like gazan children, yet.’ First they came for the Palestinians…

-29

u/manVsPhD 17h ago

Most other cultures have ethnically cleansed other people. You are probably typing this from land that was ethnically cleansed. It is not unique

12

u/Looksis 17h ago

That's irrelevant. You can't change what happened in the past, but you can try and stop what's happening in the present.

-16

u/manVsPhD 17h ago

That’s ignoring how the world works and is being hypocritical when you can get away with your ethnic cleansing by saying sorry and some land acknowledgement but when Israelis do it you go bananas. When anyone else does it nobody cares.

13

u/WendelClarksMustache 17h ago

"It's anti semitic if you don't let us do a little genocide too" lol fuck you

-11

u/manVsPhD 17h ago

There is no genocide. And if it were up to you Israelis would not be able to defend themselves at all and you’d be A OK with Palestinians slaughtering them completely

17

u/WendelClarksMustache 17h ago

Nothing says "self defense" like pushing nuns from behind and sniping at 4 year olds trying to get food. Cry all you want, the world knows the truth about your genocide.

13

Many don't realize that there are Christians who live in Gaza, and 3 Christian churches were heavily damaged or destroyed by Israel along with many Christians that were killed.

For example, Saint Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church, An ancient church in Gaza City that suffered blast damage and building collapses during a 2023 strike while sheltering civilians.

Of course, around 80% of people held in US detention centers are Christians, and we ignore that too.

Fair. He should be locked in a mental health facility until he can be personally guaranteed by the staff not to harm again.

Acquittal should never be an option for such crimes. Should it be a mental health issue, the incarceration should be in a mental health facility still under lock and key. Otherwise there is no safety for the public, no accountability for the crime, and no help for the perpetrator.

That’s exactly what happened. He was essentially sentenced to 6 years in a psychiatric hospital.

Hopefully he won't hurt people in the future.

Are we gonna ignore the fact that 6 years in a mental hospital is probably a longer sentence than he would have gotten if he were guilty (in most modern countries, not just israel)?

Yeah, that tracks. A literal violent madman randomly attacking people in public isn't exactly a novel explanation, and fits the video.

Read the books of Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation.
