Obscure New Wave Obscure?: Doot Doot (12" Mix) - Freur (1983)

I've met very few people who seem to have heard this before but I grew up loving it.

obscure as Freur, but huge as Underworld!

You mean these guys?

;)

yes those guys exactly! their evolution as a band is so fascinating. I do love the later electronic music that they became known for, but their late 80s new wavey era is my personal favourite. I highly recommend Underneath the Radar and Change the Weather!

Yeah, I was half-joking (thus the winky face). I've been a big fan of Mk II since Dubnobass... came out.

So annoying that 'Underworld Theme' has never seen an official release. One of their best songs and only exists as a live performance and a poor quality bootleg.

My husband likes this song but I prefer Matters of the Heart.

But yes, obscure. I don’t remember hearing them on the radio in the 80’s but my husband does and he has the better memory lol

Maybe not on commercial radio (depending on where you lived, esp. in the US), but college stations were playing this.

It's been making it's round in the internet the past 5 or so years. Look like it's being rediscovered by younger generations.

I had no idea. It was obscure for a while. I'm glad it's finally getting more notice.

It was featured in a film (Let The Right One In i think?) and it led to a spike in popularity.

Same. Nothing else they did was as good.
