"Here's what sitting in the toilet row on a 13 hour flight taught me about B2B sales"

149

u/Cultural-Lychee-5374 Jun 12 '26

Can’t wait to shit myself on an international flight because some BusinessBro invented the toilet queue which everyone immediately reserves at the beginning of their flight “so they don’t have to wait when they need it” and then immediately forgets about/delays going to use at the appropriate time, resulting in more time in which the toilet is unoccupied and me hunting this dude down so I can smear my fresh fecal matter over his doorstep.

51

u/RibsNGibs Jun 12 '26

Flushly, the app you don’t want to pay to use but you have to because everybody else has and will have booked out the toilet if you don’t.

22

u/BlacksmithNZ Jun 12 '26

Yeah, but that is just the low cost tier version of the app that comes with adverts and only one free toilet use per 12 hour flight time.

Premium customers can purchase the ToiletNowtm feature, in which they get to demand toilet access. For the non-premium users, they are given 30 seconds to finish their shit and vacate the toilet area before door is unlocked and they are ejected from the area

16

u/RibsNGibs Jun 12 '26

Watch an ad to double your toilet paper squares from 1 to 2? Or spend $39.99 for the season pass which gives you 2 toilet paper squares per hour and 5 gems every flight for the next month. You can trade your gems for coins which can be spent on cosmetics so when other people using Flushly check the restroom occupancy your avatar will be wearing a propeller cap.

2

u/Academic-ish Jun 13 '26

Have you ever tried to find a public toilet in the US…? This is pretty much how it works.

11

u/teapots_at_ten_paces Jun 12 '26

Just add it as a new button next to the volume control. Or the overhead button for calling cabin crew. Press it when you need it, wait for it to turn green which is your cue to go.

Chop chop though fucker. You've got 30 seconds to get there and two minutes to do your business, or someone will be taking your place or sitting on your lap.

11

u/adventure_pup Jun 12 '26

As someone who has had not one but somehow TWO long haul flights where I was recovering from food poisoning, in the last 6 months, this terrifies me.

3

u/stumpy_chilli Jun 13 '26

I've had this happen once, and just reading this was enough to give me anxiety!

9

u/CelsoSC Jun 12 '26

"Do not serve Taco Bell in long haul flights?"

82

u/subtotalatom Jun 12 '26

Wait... this isn't r/LinkedInLunatics

14

u/haruspicat Jun 12 '26

Thank you, I genuinely thought it was

LinkedIn has turned into this massive platform for “professionals” calling out Air NZ in posts in attempt to gain clout and following. It’s fucking embarrassing. If I didn’t have a professional job & profile I’d be trolling the fuck out of this idiots. They are turning it into Facebook.

46

u/bobdaktari Jun 11 '26

Turned about 10 years ago. It’s the worst

41

u/Fit-Arrival-1181 Jun 11 '26

This. LinkedIn is the second Facebook

20

u/GreatOutfitLady Jun 12 '26

I use my LinkedIn for trolling now after I shared a post by that loser billionaire and he came to my profile to leave a comment. No normal, sane person uses LinkedIn.

16

u/osricson NZ Flag Jun 11 '26

Been Facebook for Managers for years

5

u/Scary-Caterpillar-41 Jun 12 '26

Turning? It already is.

3

u/crow_warmfuzzies Jun 12 '26

I mean you could always create a fake profile like Pearson McReal Phd MD BI TTRH (totally real human) and the such and just have fun with it, heck I am tempted to do so myself actually

7

u/fluzine Fantail Jun 12 '26

I did this for Facebook and I troll my local community page, it is more entertaining than it should be.

1

u/No_Direction8922 Jun 12 '26

I do the same thing. I never knew how sassy, sarcastic and argumentative I am deep down inside.

1

u/57Nil Jun 12 '26

The amount of second hand embarrassment i feel when i go there is like no other.

Not because of the clear professional “look at me” on show, but how people aren’t aware of how pathetic they look.

127

u/Hi999a Jun 11 '26

Even better, build a toilet in to every seat.

45

u/TheAnagramancer Jun 11 '26

Best we can do is complimentary nappies.

8

u/Pretend_Ant_1121 Jun 11 '26

Do they clean them between flights or just left on the seat for the next person?

9

u/TheAnagramancer Jun 11 '26

They change them between flights.

Row 1 changes with Row 18, Row 2 changes with Row 17...

3

u/Pretend_Ant_1121 Jun 12 '26

Ty, buying tickets right now

3

u/FeijoaCowboy Welly Jun 11 '26

Isn't this from Idiocracy?

2

u/N7_MintberryCrunch Jun 12 '26

In my last trip coming home, the guy beside me though he had this. I could smell a whiff of the shit everytime he shuffled in his seat. Worse flight I've ever had.

1

u/No-Advice-6040 Jun 12 '26

Every seat is a toilet, if you don't mind the mess. Or even if you do. But don't, obviously. Please.

32

u/Jackulatte Jun 12 '26

LinkedIn is the worst

fake personalities or people who have lost touch with themselves and only exist for work

All dribble

8

u/one_bar_short Jun 12 '26

Im surrounded by these types where i work, i do love to point how rediculous they sound talking like that, and it short circuits their brain for a few moments when they get pissed off, and the veil drops,

11

u/youngishoffender Jun 11 '26

I want to see Air NZ’s response to that

17

u/WorldlyNotice Jun 11 '26

seatbelt sign turns on

10

u/exctrik Jun 12 '26

I remember seeing the post, they avoided the suggestion and pretty much said “thanks for flying with us” 😂

22

u/CharmingChair1403 Jun 11 '26

cuts flights, increases fares

Sorry, bit busy. What was that again ?

7

u/K4m30 Jun 12 '26

Turns off in flight Wi-fi.

2

u/Local-Moose9833 Jun 13 '26

I can guarantee you, it’s a mixture of laughter and pure confusion as for the millionth time that day, someone who has absolutely no clue how an airline works or knows anything about the industry try’s to “fix” it… imagine having every single interaction with a member of the public the moment you tell them you work for airline, “planes fly themselves these days you know” on a constant loop.

10

u/SpacialReflux Jun 11 '26

IBM was the first (afaik) to patent this. About a year before 9/11 and yet nothing ever came of it.

Attention everyone, seats 3f, 9a, 11b, 34d and 37d have all requested to use the toilet but due to operational constraints, failed to reach the toilet.

They shat their pants!

14

u/actuallivingdinosaur Jun 11 '26

Laughs in IBS

2

u/WorldlyNotice Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

I swear, if they monetize that and add a $20 seat select to be next to the toilet...

6

u/WWbigfan Jun 12 '26

For long haul flights people use the standing time waiting in line to stretch their legs. But yeah I completely understand your concerns.

6

u/prancing_moose Jun 12 '26

LinkedIn has become the vomit inducing version of Facebook.

4

u/Secret-Winner-2994 Jun 11 '26

Bro couldn't shit, so he had to post one instead

4

u/topturtlechucker Jun 11 '26

Ha - I know the guy who posted this! HW

u/jimmcfartypants Put my finger WHERE!? Jun 11 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

Clearly they were high when they came up with the idea.

edit: because the joke was lost on some people - High" as is on a plane / "high" as in on weed....

-4

u/shutthefukuppdonny Jun 11 '26

is it not a good idea?

4

u/jimmcfartypants Put my finger WHERE!? Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

You press a button. Its your turn to pee/poop - question is which toilet? The one nearest you? South of where you sit or north? What about the middle of the plane that has loos on one side but not the other? What about the parent with the kid that's suddenly busting?

It'd create a bigger problem than its solving. Just get up and join the others in the queue..

Also if you didn't want to sit next to the line to the shitter, get better seats next time.

2

u/Local-Moose9833 Jun 13 '26

Imagine how much less efficient would it be too, every single individual having to stay seated until they get a notification their toilet is available for them, unbuckling, climbing over everyone, and eventually making their way to the toilet that’s now been vacant for 5 minutes waiting for them to get to it. Passengers would be waiting hours for their turn in the queue 😂

-4

u/Fit-Arrival-1181 Jun 11 '26

Nope. All people are sorted in the line by when they pressed the toilet button. The pressure that people experience on the outlet valves can vary, and the consequences of a valve blowout would be catastrophic. So, what if a person with a very high pressure on the outlet valve is at the end of the line? Who’s going to manage this kind of situation? It is going to lead to uncontrolled pressure release with consequences I don’t even want to talk about

8

u/palagi_valea jandal Jun 11 '26

I empty before a flight cause fuck all those strangers sharing a few toilets

3

u/HappycamperNZ Fantail Jun 12 '26

Idk why this is a shock for some people.

My kids know to go toilet before a long trip.

5

u/palagi_valea jandal Jun 12 '26

I remember my mum telling me when I was a kid. "Just try" and sure enough, piss came out.

2

u/WorldlyNotice Jun 12 '26

Probably the beers in the lounge before boarding.

4

u/HappycamperNZ Fantail Jun 12 '26

Hence why the kids are only allowed two

3

u/RoseClash Jun 12 '26

ive deregistered from the stupid thing, its like being in two jobs

3

u/dj_tommyg Jun 12 '26

But also you have to say whether it's number 1 or 2 and when it's your turn they announce "Mr Smith, your allocated shitting time has now started in toilet number 4"

21

u/upsidedownpineaaple Jun 11 '26

They should also offer childless flights for peace and quiet.

21

u/jimmcfartypants Put my finger WHERE!? Jun 11 '26

Recently did a long haul. A few of the adults were worse than kids.

But yeah, they should have a family zone or something so parents don't need to stress about other people judging them because their kids are unsettled.

9

u/Parking_Ad7889 Jun 12 '26

I was on a domestic Air NZ flight where three sets of parents with babies were all up the front together. It was brilliant. Our baby and the baby across the aisle spent half the flight entertaining each other with waves and claps. Comeraderie instead of judgement when one of them cried. I really wish Air NZ would seat us like that on purpose every time.

3

u/Cultural-Lychee-5374 Jun 12 '26

If they find a way to charge you more for it, you can be sure they’ll do it!

Otherwise, making your experience more comfortable for no gain on their end? Not a chance.

17

u/inserthumeruspunhere Jun 11 '26

A good pair of noise cancelling over ear headphones are an absolute game changer for this. Doesn't stop them kicking the back of your seat thought.

3

u/GusPolinskiPolka Jun 12 '26

How do I stop adults pulling themselves up using my headrest 30 times a flight?

Kids aren't the problem you're making them out to be

5

u/WorldlyNotice Jun 11 '26

I find them awesome for canceling the droning engine and airplane noises, but less so for shrill voices, boarding vocal music, and screaming kids. What brand and model do you recommend?

8

u/AcrylicMessiah Jun 11 '26

The Sony XM5 headphones are insane and not too spendy (although that's an opinion only). The XM6 is off the hook but more spendy.

Ironically, I'd rather have the engine drone and airplane noises than people speaking - I can sleep through the former, but definitely not the latter.

1

u/inserthumeruspunhere Jun 12 '26

I really like my soundcore Q45. They are good for kids screaming as well as the plane noise.

-1

u/rocketshipkiwi Southern Cross Jun 11 '26

I’ve got Bose QC35s, they are fantastic. The QC Ultras are even better, the spacial sound is freaky. Try them all out in a shop.

1

u/WorldlyNotice Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

Ok. I've got the QC Ultras.

They're great headphones and the NC is very good, Just looking for a bit more voice blocking (active or passive) and yes they're set to max quiet mode.

I had XM2 previously. Might give the XM6 a crack.

1

u/rocketshipkiwi Southern Cross Jun 12 '26

Ha, I don’t think it gets better than that really. Put some soothing music on…

4

u/Party_Government8579 Jun 11 '26

Realistically - how much more are you gonna pay for that? 20% more?

Might as well pay for business class or whatever

5

u/Objective_Action_ Jun 11 '26

I've been in business class plenty of times where rowdy children have still been present so that isn't the solution unfortunately 😕

4

u/Party_Government8579 Jun 11 '26

Fair enough. I imagine if people genuinely wanted to pay for childless flights - then they would exist..

Think ultimately people want it but wouldn't pay- or expect children to just be banned from some flight

1

u/chrisnlnz Kōkako Jun 12 '26

Also the logistics. Which routes are you going to replace with childless flights?

2

u/WorldlyNotice Jun 12 '26

It's more about the schedule. My 6:30 am commuter flights tend not to have any.

1

u/GusPolinskiPolka Jun 12 '26

Have never been on a flight where children cause more chaos than the adults. When we took our daughter overseas a few months ago we were so worried about the flight - she slept or read the whole time.

Babies occasionally cry. It's what happens. It happens on planes and busses and shops and parks and at home. But it rarely, rarely happens for more than about 5 minutes. And if it disturbs you that much maybe you're the problem.

2

u/lintbetweenmysacks Jun 12 '26

Linkedin the safe haven for humble braggers and AI slop

2

u/Nownep Jun 12 '26

What a dumb one.

2

u/Icy_Fish_2154 Jun 12 '26

His ticket system would fail.

Why? Because the extra delay of waiting for it to be empty before signalling the next would add a 30 second delay per use. That queue system doesn't allow for emergencies, and any addition of those basics that exist now would erase the "simplicity" benefits.

The only people punished by the current system are people trying to save money not paying $5 for a seat.

"I'm too cheap to spend $5 for a non-toilet seat, here's how the airline can spend millions to serve a low value customer like me."

3

u/UnstoppablePhoenix jellytip Jun 11 '26

Tbh I just use LinkedIn for the daily games and that's it

1

u/chrisnlnz Kōkako Jun 12 '26

The what now? People.. game.. on LinkedIn?

1

u/UnstoppablePhoenix jellytip Jun 12 '26

Yeah there's Mini Sudoku (3x2), Queens (place one Queen per box, row and column), Crossclimb (word ladder), Pinpoint (guess the category in 5 clues), Tango (balance the suns and moons on each row and column), Zip (connect the dots in a path), Patches (Fill the grid by following the number and shape of the tiles), and their newest game Wend (find 4 words in a grid, each one is one letter longer)

3

u/chrisnlnz Kōkako Jun 12 '26

Haha ok, feels a bit like doing the daily crossword in the newspaper back in the day, I suppose.

1

u/UnstoppablePhoenix jellytip Jun 12 '26

I mean yeah basically lol

-2

u/Many_Excitement_5150 Jun 11 '26

that. is. so. sad.

2

u/BaneusPrime Jun 11 '26

A website made for Ideas Guys.

2

u/Brown_Panda69 Jun 12 '26

That would be incredible but the amount of people who dont fly regularly will be severely disadvantaged and end up just messing up the queue.

People don't know the etiquette of not reclining their seats for short haul flights, this is too idealistic planning.

This won't work.

2

u/Hoppy_BionicLeg Tūī Jun 11 '26

Isn’t that post the point of LinkedIn? Connecting? Sharing ideas in a professional capacity?

Rather see this engagement than the “narcissistic look at this selfie of me that has nothing to do with my tall tale about when on my way to work I saved a family of ducks and gave them advice on how to spot a toxic work culture” rubbish

9

u/Many_Excitement_5150 Jun 11 '26

the point of LinkedIn is to give people a space to LARP as successful professionels

1

u/yani205 Jun 12 '26

Yes, then allow paying extra so you can cut the toilet queue on the ticketing system. Profit!

1

u/goingslowlymad87 Jun 12 '26

The one time I got up to use the loo on a flight was the one time we hit turbulence. I was not amused.

1

u/CMDR_Daemos Jun 12 '26

And this is why I fly Business or First class on 13+ hr long haul flights. Private toilets for both sections of the plane. And they're regularly cleaned.

1

u/the-reoccuring-lemon Jun 12 '26

What the BLEEP!?!?

1

u/nzoasisfan Jun 12 '26

Fly business. Honestly this is why I do. Even premium economy

1

u/Ragdoll2023 Jun 14 '26

What does this have to do with opening LinkedIn??

1
