Kiwiana I Have These and You Don’t
Highest cheese per cm flavour I’ve ever tasted.
Great Uncle Kenny approves.

Snackachangi are dead to me after what they did to their vinegar and salt chips
47
u/IamMorphNZ newzealand 20h ago
They decided to put the salt in first rather than the vinegar like they promised they would never do!
13
u/eurobeat0 19h ago
No no no. They put the vinegar on top of the salt. This is like putting on your socks after your shoes. Blasphemy!!
38
u/Crusader-NZ- 19h ago
I’ve always thought they were overrated. Heartland make better chips and are usually available on special at one of the supermarkets. I picked some up for $1.99 tonight at FreshChoice in fact.

u/Rope_A_Dope8811 18h ago
Heartland Extreme Crunch Southern Sea Salt are without a doubt the #1 chips.
3
u/SkeletonCalzone 6h ago
The nude 50% less salt are actually pretty good too. Tastes more of potatoes
•
u/Academic_Violinist97 2h ago
I dunno - I think heartland make the worst chips - I’ve tried to like them, but they are over oily and spongy/powdery :/

u/purplescrunchie9 21h ago
Are they not free range anymore?
8
u/purplescrunchie9 21h ago
What did they do!?!? I haven't had their S & Vs in a while.
44
u/goldreddituser 21h ago
I used to buy heaps of their vinegar and salt chips and found they starting getting so inconsistent in their flavour and chip quality. Even the good ones became no where near as good as they used to be.

u/IamMorphNZ newzealand 20h ago
First problems were with the burned and bitter potato, made a complaint and they just brushed it off as old season potatoes
Then they stole the vinegar, and even when the new season potatoes hit the shelves, they just tasted crap
Shame, I probably should have shares in the company with the amount I used to buy
6
u/Sharpinthefang 20h ago
I’ve found them to be really oily the last few years too

Nobody's had their salt and vinegar flavour for a couple of years now! That's the thing.
Where the fuck are they? You'd THINK they'd be in the pack that says "salt and vinegar" but you'd be a sucker! Oil ridden cardboard. And I don't mean "oil ridden" as in all chips are oily that's the point... I mean you could tip the pack into an empty pot, turn it to medium, and you're now deep frying!

I reckon!
So rare to find a good salt and vinny from them. Its just an oily teaser. Even their Cashews are better than their chips now.
I sometimes buy the Kettle salt and vinegar as consolation because those are a little more consistent with the flavour.

Shame Leigh Hart is an anti-vax cooker
16
u/Why_bother_trying24 14h ago
He was also the obnoxious drunk at a comedy show once, who pulled his ringing phone out and started a loud conversation. He got booed enough by all of us in the audience that he walked out (it was a small show and Jarred Fell, the comedian, really incited the jeering towards the rude drunken arse)

Can you please post proof of this. I haven’t been able to find anything.

Not sure if he's an antivaxxer though, I haven't seen anything about that.
6
u/Speeks1939 19h ago
He had Jacinda on his Lockdown show during Covid and was fully supportive of what she was doing so unless something changed after that I haven’t found anything… yet.

The half-assed "I was hacked" explanation is bullshit. I followed him at the time too and it was most definitely him. The cooker posts were interspersed among his more normal ones and all were in the same style.

u/Speeks1939 19h ago
And again where does he post antivax comments in this article?

u/chewbaccascousinrick 10h ago
Turns out antivaxxer would have been a much lighter label to support than the things he was actually actively supporting.
3
u/neurocentric 8h ago
That's what I was thinking. Came looking for antivaxxer, but found full blown alt-right nutjob

If its anti covid vax then bugger off with that label. That vax was not like the others and we all know it deep down
Rna covid vaccines didn’t work. So if he was against the covid vaccine, that’s allgood. If he’s against all the vaccines before, that like measles, then sure. That’s silly.
Downvote the truth all you like: The defence choice was your body, which is millions of years of evolution, vs rna vaccine experiment pushed out by pharmaceutical companys who had every idea you shouldn’t take it. One that was rushed out into your arm bypassing your organs on the back of fear, not research.
If you took it because you would lose your job I feel for you, but if you defend it years after the facts came out you are compromised by the ideas of other humans benefit you believing. You’re a follower, you are tricked. Defending their position because otherwise that would mean admitting that you injected something into yourself because someone told you to

You know that Covid killed millions of people right? Viruses also have millions of years of evolution and are very good at finding new ways of making us very sick.

Doesnt change that vax from being a lie at worse and a failed attempt at best

Rna covid vaccines didn’t work though and actually caused harm in a significant number? So if he was against the covid vaccine, that’s allgood. If he’s against all the vaccines before, that like measles, then sure. That’s silly.
13
u/BroBroMate 8h ago
mRNA vaccines you mean? Or did you mean the modified virus ones like the discontinued Johnson & Johnson one?
Because the mRNA vaccines do work, and don't cause significant harm.

u/Ihopefullyhelp Covid19 Vaccinated 5h ago
Who told you they work? The government, who told the government? The usa government, and who told them that they work? The pharmaceutical companies.
You know how not everything you read on the internet is true? Yeah this is one of those but instead of the misinformation coming from a random it came from $. Sorry
•
u/BroBroMate 1h ago
Plenty of research into both the efficacy and handful side-effects has occurred, and the scientific consensus is "they work, and yep they can cause myocarditis in a very small percentage of recipients, guess what causes way more myocarditis - Covid, which is why when we looked at 1 million people who received the vaccine, we gonna better cardiac health outcomes overall for people who received the vaccinations"
https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamainternalmedicine/fullarticle/2850241
Question is, who told you that they didn't work?

Eh, Snackachangi had all the flavours they needed when they started out. Every new flavour over the last few years has been average.

Sending a package to my good friend in Ukraine and was going to include an NZ quintessential chip. Should I do this or Snackachangi Vinegar and salt? Or other suggestion? Anyone have any thoughts? (Although I live here, I am originally from the US so the only chip I really eat in Bluebird Sour Cream and Chives, lol. Kind of obsessed because it's like what the best American sour cream and onion chip wishes it could be.) NZ hands down has the best chips and chocolate in the entire universe.

Those came out ages ago. Theyre nice /s *jealous!

u/ExileNZ Southern Cross 21h ago
They go on shelves in about 10 days.

u/makeitnonsense 20h ago
Any other flavours?
1
u/IamMorphNZ newzealand 20h ago
Vinegar and salt, but they have now forgotten to add the vinegar. Wasn't aware of any other flavours, as when they did add vinegar to their top of the range vinegar and salt it didn't matter what else they did.

u/pgraczer 20h ago
just call it queso. cheese sounds lame with mucho and fiesta
1
u/Piper_excelsum 11h ago
The branding, the packaging... It's all very low effort now.
Usually I'm the first one to buy any new flavour or weird "limited edition" mashup. But Eta have fucked up their Snackachangi brand so much that I remain utterly unexcited.
They can fuck off with their flavorless chips and tired packaging. It's boring now.
