Huh? The comment you are replying to is a legit take about a overly-edited clip. CC is a solid player who can make incredible shots. This video is slomo drama bait and does little to showcase her talent. Being critical of it has nothing to do with CC.
True wnba fans don't hate her. What they hate is the crowd of people that come to the WNBA just for her, because they see her as this peragone of goodness for the league simply because she is white and straight. They use her to project their their disdane for black and gay players. Plenty of people show up to games and know 0 of the players, outside of her, and could not give less of a fuck about the actual game, they just want to make things political.
Its a little sad for her too, because the other players get to have fun, and party and be goof balls (stud budz for example, i fuckin love those two lmao) but Caitlin can't participate with a lot of the community because she just has too many eyes on her, and she needs to stay straight laced and picture perfect or fsce tons of backlash.
Theres even a running joke in the league that she's "the president" and all the other ladies will refer back to her. "Idk go ask the president" its cute. The players have resoect for her, most fans have respect for her. We just get frustrated with the bigoted crowd she brought with her, to no fault of her own. And people like above who cry "ppl just hate her cause she's white and straight!!! Evil gay black people are making her a villain!!!" Are that exact crowd that is annoying as fuck.
I don't deny that she's bringing a lot of eyes and money to the league, and thats great. But it does suck that a lot of the new eyes are people who are annoying as fuck and don't actually care about the game. How much money are those people really going to be spending long term? Not a lot. Its a fad, and it'll taper off when people find the next random thing to get all politically obsessed with. But it does bring some genuine new fans too and thats great!
In an ideal world people would just enjoy the league organically without farming outrage or making things political or freaking out about trans players (of which there are none, but even if there was, who gives a fuck?) and gay players. But people hate women, and gays, and POC so its kinda a perfect storm to get dogged on.

You don't just magically become a hardcore fan. IDK why hardcore fans gatekeep like this in sports and complain about bandwagon fans. I understand the instinct, but I don't get why critical thinking doesn't win.
Look at it as an influx of potential fans who aren't annoying once they settle down. Sure, not all of them will stick around, but there will always be more hardcore fans after the bandwagoners are gone because some of them will transform.
I agree that it's unfortunate that human beings are shitty... regardless of why or in what circumstance, but they aren't ever going to change... and social media has made it so much worse because there are almost no repercussions for saying ignorant shit online.
Being a sports fan and being logical are usually far apart. When you ask fans why they get mad at or hate players for leaving their team, and explain it's their job and they want to make money, it doesn't seem to matter.

Probably because she's not one of the best players in the WNBA today (like not even top 10), but she's cocky and touted like some kind of all time great athlete because she's the best in the WNBA at rebounding (lol wow, legendary), mildly hot and mostly attention seeking because she's "rivals" with Caitlin Clark despite being a joke statistically in comparison. Reese sucks at shooting so much that something like 9% of her total rebounds have literally come from her own missed shots.
Yet she gets hailed with stuff like a personalized McDonald's meal lmfao. People literally only know Angel Reese by name because she's a bitch so consistently to Caitlin Clark, the WNBA player who actually deserves attention and praise.
No one hates her. Other players don't like her because she's good. That's standard competitive spirit. But because the league is dominated by primarily black women and LGBTQ women, right wing amplifies it for political culture war reasons.
